We loved the location as it was quiet and near the water. It would have been nice if there had been screens on more of the windows so we didn't have to use the AC as much. Host was responsive when we had issues. We made the mistake of using the microwave and toaster oven at the same time which tripped the fuse. Overall we had a great stay.
The property is a ways out of town and down a dirt road. Unfortunately we got hit with a Nor'Easter on the days we were on Martha's Vineyard, so we wound up spending a lot more time in the house than we had planned to. The house was well equipped; however the electrical was a bit wonky. A lot of switches didn't seem to turn on any lights. Some wall plates are labeled and others are not. The kitchen light did not shut off and it was quite bright in that room. I told the owner not to send a repairman out due to the storm, so we just lived with it. It would go a long way to have a welcome guide in a binder that had instructions on how to turn up the heat and/or AC, use the "fireplace", TV, etc. Everything apparently is "on-line", but I didn't bring a laptop and hate looking for documentation on my phone when I am on vacation. This is honestly the first rental I've ever had that didn't have some type of "how to" binder in the house. Usually owners like to recommend places to eat or rent bikes as well. There is a firing range close by so you will hear gunshots. (Yes, even during a Nor'Easter!!)

Thank you for your feedback, Gloria. We are sorry that the Nor'Easter kept you indoors for much of your Martha’s Vineyard getaway!
Our cottage sits in a quiet, classic Island neighborhood down a dirt road near the pond—which many guests love for its privacy and peaceful retreat feel.
We provide comprehensive check-in instructions and appliance guides directly through the reservation portal so guests have them instantly accessible on their phones. We also keep local maintenance on standby to assist immediately with lighting or switches, though we respected your preference not to have anyone stop by during the storm.
As for the nearby Rod & Gun Club, it is an established local institution in the area; activity is typically limited to daytime hours and is rarely noticed indoors under normal circumstances.
We appreciate your suggestion regarding a printed counter binder alongside our digital guide, and we hope the rest of your travels across New England were enjoyable.
It’s a bit out of hand, so home drop off and pick up of rental bikes helps close the gap with the nearby towns of Edgartown, Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs. It’s located in between tall trees, so shaded and cool. The garden is well kept. The basement would be ideal for a couple of extra games to entertain the younger guests. The neighborhood is made of big houses (definitely not the biggest on the island) and aome neighbor enjoys practicing with his handguns, not too far away.
