Welcome to Cabot Plains Farm!
Perched high up above town (home of the world famous Cabot Cheese) at the headwaters of the Winooski River, you’ll be treated to stunning wide-open views of both sunrise over the White Mountains and ever-changing sunsets over the Green Mountains. The views are what makes this place so special. In addition to the main farmhouse and covered bridge, the property also includes a four-story barn, a renovated one bedroom historic schoolhouse that once served the area, a hen house, and a sugarhouse for making maple syrup from our multi-generational forest.
You’ll stay in an updated and expanded historic farmhouse which sleeps 10 comfortably, with multiple gathering spaces for family and friends! The farmhouse has 4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, and multiple gathering spaces on both floors. A spacious, fully equipped open kitchen with twin sinks and central island stovetop opens up to the light filled two-story main living and dining space. From the main living space, step out through the glass doors to soak in the views from the wooden back deck.
The first floor primary bedroom includes a full size jacuzzi tub, opens onto its own private porch, and has views of the covered bridge from the attached bathroom. Upstairs bedrooms all have spectacular views with a tiger maple four poster full-sized bed in one, a queen sized bed with morning views in another, and two twin beds in a fun kids room. There is an additional queen sized bed in the crow’s nest room upstairs.
Well equipped for remote workers with desks and working spaces throughout the house and wifi with plenty of speed for video conferencing and streaming. For those not working, relax on the couches in one of the two downstairs living rooms, or nestle in to enjoy reading or playing games in the upstairs lounge. The heated mudroom has plenty of space for gear after outdoor activities - and outside is where you’ll want to be.
This is truly a four-seasons property with activities for all ages! The land abuts the Cabot Trails Network and is just 3 miles from the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail for miles of hiking, biking, or cross-country skiing. Kids can sled through the fields right out the back door. Ice skating is available at the Cabot Town Common during the winter.
LOCAL FOOD + DRINK You’ll be just minutes outside of Cabot village and yet worlds away. Walk down to our neighbors at Burtt’s Apple Orchard or drop into town for gourmet dining at Headwaters or a pint at The Den @ Harry’s Hardware (yes, it is a bar in a hardware store, and yes it is as awesome as you think). Don’t miss a maple creemee at Butch’s Harvest’ore (7 mins), where you can also find farm-fresh eggs, local meats, and homemade breads and baked goods from local farm families! Foodies will also enjoy a visit to Hill Farmstead Brewery and the cheese cellars at Jasper Hill Farm, both in Greensboro (28 mins).

This property is everything you want from a Northeast Kingdom getaway! The home is well appointed, clean and comfortable. Location is within 20 minutes of good Vermont dining but honestly, you want to stay on property forever! The views, hiking and just peacefulness of it all makes you want to curl up with a blanket, book and enjoy the crisp fall weather. We would definitely come back again and are grateful to our amazing hosts! Michael and Lillian were very accommodating and responsive our whole trip. Highly recommend!!
We recently had the pleasure of staying at this gorgeous, historic farmhouse in Cabot. The description in the listing is beyond accurate. There were just 2 of us this trip. The house is so spacious and lovely. We never even used the 2nd foor at all. But had we brought our children or friends, the home would definitely absorb a crowd, with the option of several cozy gathering spots. The grounds, landscape are so peaceful, relaxing. There's an old barn, covered bridge, old schoolhouse as well...lots of history. The vast views of the mountains and amazing sunsets can't be beat. A short drive from downtown Cabot. Plenty to do around and near the property - hiking, fishing, antiquing. Or, relax and choose to do nothing but decompress by soaking in the sights and sounds of nature's beauty. The owners are super responsive. It was a wonderful get-away. We hope to visit again!
