This is most certainly a hidden gem! We were visiting a family member that lives very close and we like to get our kids together and partake in Halloween festivities. We had a perfect amount of space and it was wonderful to be able to enjoy a family dinner together in the spacious kitchen/dining room room. I can’t tell you enough about the property, if you love this type of home, it is a must stay. Even if you don’t, you need to stay there, it is fabulous! Period correct decor, everything you need to have an enjoyable weekend and we even caught some beautiful sunrises on the back patio. We hope to rent this every October and I plan to rent it with my spouse in the future as well as my mother-in-law. The owners and the property manager were friendly and always there if needed. They shared great information about things to do in the area. 100% recommend this property.

Nice piece of architectural history

This house is well maintained and persevered. Most things are obviously original and if you are someone who appreciates design details from this period you will like this property. Hosts were easy to communicate with and check in/check out was super easy.

Homecoming 2024

What a wonderful stay. The property was amazing. Clean, well stocked and perfect for our needs. We were busy with Homecoming activities, but I would love to come back and just hang out in the lovely spaces of this home. Patricia, the property manager, made everything easy and she was easily available via text if needed.

Great central location for a Driftless region weekend outdoors!

Very clean, and very unique. The house is very true to its original late 1950’s design. We stayed 2 two nights and did long bike ride to Lone Rock, Oakwood Fruit Farm Apple Orchard and back, nice dinner in Viroqua, and then an excellent kayak tour down the Pine River. Great fun!!

Mid Century Escape

We stayed for our 25th anniversary to unplug and see the fall colors. It’s a short drive to the places in the Driftless Area that we love. Clean and comfortable, with a well-appointed kitchen. Owners did a great job restoring its mid century charm. We will stay again!

25th Wedding Anniversary Trip - Frank Lloyd Wright Trail and American Players Theatre

Our overall experience with the home was lovely, and the house was in a good location for everthing we did during our stay. The property manager checked in with us just the right amount by text, and we had everything we needed. We thought the style of the house was really cool, and it appeared to be in above average condition for its age. We appreciated the period furnishings and minimalistic decor. We also appreciated the good supply of coffee, tea, sweeteners, etc.. We enjoyed sitting on the back deck with our coffee in the mornings and watching a bit of TV on the comfortable sofa in the evenings. The towels and bed linens were clean and fresh. All of these thoughtful touches were not lost on us and made our experience a comfortable one.

Frank Lloyd Wright inspired home

Property was a great experience. Comfortable beds and a wonderful living room with great seating and an electric fireplace to complete the ambiance. Kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, utensils, and basic condiments. Lovey views from the living room! Communication with the host and property manager were smooth and easy! Quiet getaway

Cozy little house with a beautiful great room. My wife and I were looking for a quick getaway for a weekend and this was the perfect retreat to reset our batteries. Super friendly and accommodating hosts. This house is in a quiet neighborhood, just minutes from so many activities. Next time we're in the area, we will without a doubt stay here again. 10 out of 10. 😁

Wonderful getaway for a 3-day weekend

My wife and I were joined by another couple for a three night stay. We canoed the Pine River Saturday. Hiked and biked on Sunday and Monday. We also visited Spurgeon Winery, the Big Spring nearby it, and the Oakwood Fruit Farm. The house was a delight to come back to after a day of doing these activities. The kitchen was large and easy to work in. The living room was comfortable and the gas fireplace provided a nice warmth. The house has been updated, but still retains the character of the original.

Owners and property management were all very thoughtful and friendly. The house was like being in a work of art and was a wonderful experience to encapsulate our tour of the FLW estate. Good rating for cleanliness because everything you want to be clean like bedding and towels were. Other areas of the home felt like they were missed over. Neighborhood was great, expect felt really uncomfortable with neighbor's camera pointed towards this house and feels like they could easily see in the bedrooms, which understandably not the owners fault. Some of the furniture was not to our comfort liking. The bed was on the firmer side and for a tall person not ideal being a queen with a low base. The couch was also laking comfort due to style for a tall person. The dining room and patio furniture were the most comfortable for us. It's hard to rate because it is all very aesthetically appealing.We had a fairly good stay there overall. It was peaceful and beautiful for the most part. We did run into some issues that we thought would be addressed differently. Communication though with Walter was always pleasant and thoughtful. We are glad to have experienced this beautiful home however wouldn't return purely out of personal comfort. We would however recommend to a fan of this style or of FLW to at least experience it.

Its hillside location and proximity to our family. It's a short walk over the footbridge right into downtown Richland Center.

What makes this property unique

Did you know that Richland Center was the birthplace of Frank Lloyd Wright? This home was built by one of his apprentices in 1957. It used to sit on waterfront property back when there was a dam in Richland Center. The back of the house faces the Pine River and the Pine River Valley which is a protected wetland. It's peaceful and tranquil inside and out. The large picture windows of the home function like a work of art as they showcase the ever changing world outside. It's a special house that has been well maintained and thoughtfully designed.
