Buck Haus- North Lake Tahoe Dog-friendly, Lakeview, Walk to Lake, Hot Tub
*Tahoe is a beautiful and fun place to visit, but occasionally this area can be affected by extreme weather events. While we never want things like icy roads, road closures, or smoke from wildfires to negatively impact our guests, it can happen. We ask travelers to plan their vacation appropriately for the rural mountain climate and encourage guests to research all travel insurance options, as Tahoe Moon Properties cannot provide refunds for things outside of our control.
Dog-friendly - Lake & Mountain View -Private Hot Tub- Great Patio Furniture in Summer!
Less than 2 miles from Tahoe City on Lake Tahoe's beautiful North Shore, this vacation home offers a spacious multi-level layout perfect for families or groups of close friends. The Buck Haus offers easy access to the Tahoe City bike path, a quick walk to Skylandia's beach, as well as a short drive to both downhill and cross-country skiing at world-renowned Lake Tahoe ski resorts. The Buck Haus sleeps 8 people very comfortably.
The living areas have beautifully high cathedral ceilings and a wall of windows looking out on the trees, mountains, and the lake. No lack of natural light here! As you enter the home, you are greeted with an immediate breathtaking view of the mountains and lake Tahoe peeking through the trees. The split-level open-plan design allows you to take in these views from the kitchen, dining room, living areas, and large deck alike.
The kitchen is large and well equipped with lots of preparation room. It sits easily accessible to the dining and living areas and wide open to the entire great room. This allows the chef in the family to keep their spot in a friendly board game from the other room while cooking up something nice. After dinner, enjoy a cozy fire in the large stone fireplace as you start to unwind for the evening. Off the living area is a large sunny deck with plenty of patio furniture, a BBQ, and a hot tub creating the perfect outdoor area for summertime entertaining.
Down the stairs to the first landing are two bedrooms, each with a king bed and a shared bathroom. On the next level, you will find the laundry facilities (brand new washer and dryer), two more bedrooms, and a shared bathroom. These rooms consist of a queen bed in each room. Each of these lower bedrooms opens out onto the second large deck which is equipped with a secluded hot tub.
The location is great for summer or winter vacations, including a great dog beach just around the corner. You can also go rafting down the Truckee River, water ski or swim in the lake, rent a jet ski or enjoy the many hiking and biking trails around the lake. There are also beautiful cross-country and snowshoe trails with views of the lake, and snowmobile tours for winter travelers. At night, there are so many great restaurants and bars you'll have difficulty deciding where to go next!

Met some friends and family here with our two doggos. We all worked from home and enjoyed the nearby walkable areas on the lake! It was a perfect spot if you’re looking for coziness and beauty! The area was in off season so hardly anyone was around.

We loved this house. Located only a few minuets from Tahoe City and the Lake. Plenty of space, large kitchen and living space. We would definitely recommend this to friends and family.

Lakeview Family Retreat
The Buck Haus is a dog friendly North Lake Tahoe vacation rental with a Lakeview, new hot tub and a great central location. Less than 2 miles from Tahoe City on Lake Tahoe's beautiful North Shore, this vacation home offers a spacious multi-level layout allowing for gatherings of large groups or multiple families.
We loved this house for our summer trip to Tahoe. The beds were comfy and the rooms were perfect for us. It was a group of 40 something women on an annual girls trip.
There were some quirks about the space but otherwise it was awesome.

Great Multi Family Home
Two families with adult children shared this home for a week and enjoyed it very much. Lots of room to have 'together' time but great spaces for privacy too.
Great location for walking, heading up to the ski hills or visiting Tahoe City.
We all had a wonderful holiday at the Buck Haus!
Our family had a great time in this house. It has plenty of room for people to separate and it’s a short walk to the beach. There were plenty of plates in the kitchen and we were able to cook every day. You can also see the lake in between the trees. We had young children and the stairs and the gaps in the railing were a bit dangerous for our little ones. Also, it is tough to nap during the day if others are awake since you could hear everything, even foot steps. Overall, we had a great trip and we would definitely stay here again.

We are so happy your family had such a wonderful time in our house! We are so glad that it was able to fit all of your needs. We appreciate your feedback and will see if there is anything we can do to improve in those areas. We look forward to hosting you again in the future!
We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the cabin. The fridge and stove were immaculate, important as we cooked thanksgiving dinner! The picture of the stove is different from what is there, but nonetheless it worked great. Location was amazing - quiet and cozy! Lots of the nearby restaurants were closed due to timing of the season. It was a perfect cabin for our group of 8.
This place was amazing and extremely cozy. Thank you so much for letting us stay here. The fireplace, kitchen and rooms were so comfortable. The only complaint we had is the locks did not work on some of the doors and it did not make us feel very safe. The patio slider was difficult to lock. Other than that, the stay was perfect. Tahoe Moon was so easy to get ahold of and allowed for a late checkout.
Aside from not having AC, which is listed accurately, the property was nice enough for the price. I’m giving it 5 stars because it was what I expected and we had a great time. However, we probably won’t stay in a unit like this again because it was brutally hot. Even at night, with all the fans, we all had a hard time sleeping due to the heat. I had to freeze water bottles and sleep with them around my legs and armpits haha. Not sure if window AC units are possible for the property managers, but would definitely upgrade the experience for folks in the summer.
Anyway, good management, good location, fun experience!

Thank you for the review! Gosh, you were here during one of the most BRUTAL heat waves we had this summer which lasted about 6 days and nights... I can imagine it was hot! We are so sorry. I do remember talking with you and laughing about how hot and sweaty we both were. Yes, Tahoe doesn't have many homes with A/C (mine included) and there is always a week where it would just be SO great to have A/C! But the reality is, most nights it drops 20-30 degrees at night and opening up windows and putting fans on, keeps things totally undeniably comfortable. We are sorry to hear you had to rely on frozen water bottles, but we appreciate your ingenuity- very clever! We'd have you back anytime, maybe this time in late June or September, just to be certain you'd be absolutely comfortable.
Good sized place and layout for a few families to share a Tahoe vacation. Good Dollar Point location, loved the open floor and deck plan. No hassle getting in or out of the property, and no issues while we were there.

We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed your Tahoe vacation at our property! It's wonderful to know that the layout and location worked well for your group and that you appreciated the open floor plan and deck. We aim to make the check-in and check-out process as hassle-free as possible, and we're pleased to hear that there were no issues during your stay. Thank you for sharing your positive experience, and we hope to host you and your group again in the future!
House is dog friendly and near many parks and trails.
The layout keeps the house from feeling crowded even with a larger group. As noted, the noise from people walking above you is very loud and it sounds like they are in the room with you. Kitchen is well appointed but no basics. Take your salt and pepper!

We agree. We love the location and pet friendly nature of this offering! This is a great home for larger groups, but given it's split level nature, noise can travel between floors.
The house was perfect for our little family reunion. It’s a 10 min walk to the beach (no need to round up folks and get everyone into cars), a coffee shop and breakfast place are nearby as well and there is a trail near the house.
The house was clean and well stocked with pots, gadgets, and enough glasses for everyone.
Note: there is NO lake view and NO AC. The rooms were very hot until early morning hours.

Thank you Marina! I'm so glad this was the perfect spot for your little family reunion. We apologize the rooms were hot, we definitely could have brought you additional fans. We are glad to hear you had a nice trip and hope you come back and stay with us again in the future.
Location of cabin was excellent, short walk to a wonderful beach. Deck was large, which was great as there is no yard space for kids. Layout of cabin was comfortable with bedrooms on the second and third floors.
Downside, there are 3 set of stairs, hard for seniors and toddlers. The railings on the stairs are a hazard to small children, as the openings are large.
This is a great wonderful cabin, would stay again but not with
small children.

Thank you Patricia! We are glad you found the layout of the home comfortable. We hope over all you were able to enjoy your stay and hope you come back and stay with us again in the future.
Very large older home, as described in ad, we loved the elk mounting. It was way more than we needed, we were a party of 3 and one dog. It could easily accommodate a large family. We knew there was no AC, we were not anticipating the heat wave we had but we were aware of lack of AC and the bugs, although numerous, did not deter us from keeping windows open. Not all windows have screens, but we got over it pretty quickly. There were lots of fans, we also brought two of our own. Downstairs is much cooler than upstairs. We were not familiar with the area but we were disappointed in the lack of access to the Dollar Point beach. It was the main reason we picked this location, unfortunately short term renters are prohibited from using it at all which was a huge bummer. We made plans to do other activities away from the area so it worked out but it would have been nice to have access to that beach. Walking the neighborhood was a good workout, there are many hills and not much flat area near by.
We did not have hot water and needed to contact the rental agency, they did send someone to remedy the issue but they were short staffed and I had to reach out a few times to find out if and when they were coming. It did get fixed same day though so we were good to go after that.
Be aware, the home next to us did rent to a large party of what seemed to be fraternity brothers and they were very, very loud during the day. It did not help that I had a touch of altitude sickness and a migraine. They did respect the noise levels after10pm but not a moment sooner. Was not expecting to have a group of loud drinking buddies partying on the deck mid day in to the evening while we were there to relax. Not the fault of the property, but just be aware that there are several rentals in the area and these large homes can accommodate large parties.
Clifford liked hanging out on the deck, he was able to catch the cool breeze and check out all the happenings down below in the neighborhood. Thanks for the cool dog bandana, he loved it but refused to sit still for a photo!

Thank you Windy! Unfortunately, although this home is located near the Dollar Point Community, this home would not be considered part of Dollar Point Community. I apologize that there was a large party at another home during your visit, I know this can be frustrating. We are happy to hear that you were able to get out and enjoy some activities around Tahoe, and that Clifford enjoyed the deck and his bandana. We hope overall you enjoyed your trip and come back and stay with us again in the future.
We really enjoyed our stay even though at times it was pretty hot in the house since there is no AC, but thankfully the bottom floor where some of the room are stays pretty cool.

My family and I had a lovely stay at Buck Haus this summer! The home was large, had a well-stocked kitchen, jacuzzi, comfortable beds, and a large patio with stunning views! We enjoyed being just a short walk to the beach and 15-min drive/bike ride to town. It'd be great if the owners could add AC :) or a few more fans because it gets quite warm. Also screens in all the doors/windows would be a nice addition. All and all we had a wonderful stay and would be happy to return!
Liked the location, close to town. The kitchen appliances were not the ones shown on line, difficult to use. Overall, we had a good time.

We loved the Buck Haus cabin! It was perfect for our low-key bachelorette weekend. Kitchen was well stocked and the grill was perfect for dinner in, the deck was great and we loved the large windows and huge doors in the back that allowed for all the sunlight and fresh air to enter the house.
