About this property
Deer Meadow Cabin ~Lake Lure~ Breathe in Crisp Mountain Air - Pet Friendly
UPDATED ADDENDUM: Following over a year of cleanup and recovery from Hurricane Helene, the area is ready and welcoming guests again!
Our cabin is in great shape, and all our favorite local cafes and restaurants are open and thriving.
There’s plenty to explore, from peaceful mountain views, hiking trails, and golf!
If you’ve been waiting for the right time to unplug and recharge—this is it. And your visit helps support a community that’s worked so hard to bounce back. Come breathe it in.
Fresh mountain air and easy lake access await at this charming cabin in a Lake Lure private community. This is your home away from home while you visit Lake Lure. With 2 cozy bedrooms featuring a king and queen bed, a comfy living room (with a sofa bed), and a bathroom equipped with a shower, this cabin offers at-home essentials, including a fully equipped kitchen, in-unit laundry, Smart TVs, and a spacious porch to sit back and enjoy the great outdoors.
Experience what Lake Lure has to offer with a stay at our cabin. Take advantage of the gated community amenities like lake access, a private swim area, and lush trails leading to a peaceful waterfall.
COMMUNITY AMENITIES: Lake access w/ beach, beach chairs, picnic tables, forest trails, waterfall, 3 gazebos
Downtown Lake Lure, and Chimney Rock Park are each 2.5 miles away, and Asheville is a beautiful 45 minute drive away. Our favorite hike, Party Rock, can be accessed walking from our cabin and Chimney Rock State Park (Climber's ultimate playground) is only 1 mile from our cabin!
SPECIAL NOTE: This is not a new listing! We previously had this listed under a property manager, however, upon leaving that relationship, we lost our reviews and ratings which were an excellent 5 stars.
NOTE: This is a non-smoking/non-vaping property. NO smoking, or vaping allowed in the cabin or on the porch. Violators will be charged an additional cleaning fee and potentially additional charges should we need to block dates to sufficiently clean and air out smoke odor.
Only the number of guests listed on the reservation are permitted on the premises unless there is prior approval, in writing, from the Hosts.
Pets: We charge $75 pet fee for a maximum of 2 pets. Pets should be well-behaved and house broken. If there is damage due to the pet(s), additional fees may be charged.
Where You Will Be:
2.5 miles to Lake Lure Public Beach and Marina
2.5 miles to Chimney Rock State Park
6 miles to Ingles Grocery Store
12 miles To Rumbling Bald Golf Club
Restaurants, craft breweries, and hiking trails all around the area.
Getting around:
28 miles to Asheville, NC
23 miles to Black Mountain, NC (cute, artsy town worth visiting!)
20 miles to Hendersonville, NC

About the host
Hosted by Paul and Teri Hamel
Paul and Teri call Orlando, FL home, although, Lake Lure is our "home-away-from-home".
Paul retired early after serving Orange County as a Firefighter for over 32 1/2 years and Teri retired from the Walt Disney Company in early 2024 after 46 1/2 years of service. We both loved our careers, but have adjusted to retirement beautifully!
We love the great outdoors, especially hiking, skiing (water and snow), paddle boarding, boating, and even sitting on the porch swing watching the birds and bees flutter around.

Why they chose this property
We have been visiting Lake Lure Village Resort regularly since 1988, the year we married. We fell in love with the area. After all these years, the opportunity to own our “little piece of Heaven in the Mountains” presented itself in July 2021. The ability to work remotely with my job at Disney and Paul’s retirement from the fire service were contributing factors.
When here, we enjoy the amenities of this community & breathing fresh mountain air!
