About this property
Charming 3-bedroom waterfront cottage in Tremont with spectacular sunsets.
Relax with your family and friends at our peaceful retreat after a day exploring Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park. We are located on Duck Cove, 5 miles from Southwest Harbor- the "quiet side" of MDI, where there is still plenty to do, including hiking, biking, paddling, and swimming. You can also visit several local art galleries and shops, take a ferry to a neighboring island, dine at a variety of local restaurants, or simply grill at home watching a spectacular sunset. In the event of a rainy day, there are board games, puzzles, books, and a ping pong table in the downstairs family room. The kitchen is ready for baking and cooking, but there is also an outdoor grill and picnic table to ensure as much outdoor time as possible. Our hope is that you feel a special togetherness with the people you love while staying here, and experience all that Mount Desert Island, Acadia, and our cottage have to offer. Our guess is that you will want to return next year because if there is one thing that we have learned from our time on MDI, it’s that every visit brings new adventures, unforgettable memories, and a yearning for more.

About the host
Hosted by Donna Lesch
Hello and welcome to our VRBO webpage. My partner Matt and I are new here as hosts, but the house itself - Acadia Sunset Cottage - is not. We acquired the house this past winter, and have yet to work out the process of transferring over the guest reviews from the previous owner. We are thrilled to share the peace and joy of this special cottage on Mount Desert Island.
Why they chose this property
The "quiet side" of Mount Desert Island is a retreat from the busy Bar Harbor side of the island. The house is located in Tremont on a quiet road with a gorgeous view of Duck Cove. You can explore the cove by kayak or walk around the edges when the tide is low. Located not far from Southwest Harbor, you have options to visit art galleries, dine at nice restaurants, or hop on ferries to other islands. You are also not far from Acadia National Park trails that are less traversed. There is SO much fun to be enjoyed on this part of the island!
What makes this property unique
Acadia Sunset Cottage is a true gem. It is airy and bright and comfortable. There is space to be together, but also space to be apart. By far the best feature of the cottage is the view of Duck Cove and beyond. You can enjoy the view from most windows in the house, out on the screened-in porch, sitting on an Adirondack chair on the lawn, or down near the water. It is beautiful. And so peaceful. It is hard to describe the awe you feel by being there and being part of the scene. You really need to experience it.
