About this property
Fantastic 3-bedroom house, view New Found Lake, water, skiing and snowmobiling!
Your home away from home in Alexandria with 3 bedrooms. This beautiful recently refurbished house features 2 queen beds and 3 twin beds in the children loft. Its perfect for a tranquil getaway with family and friends. Enjoy the cozy living room with TV and fire place and additional fold out couch for a full bed for extra guests. The bathroom is equipped with a hairdryer and shower amenities. Stay connected with WiFi and take advantage of the heating and washing/dryer machines.
There is a dining room for family meals if you dare as well as a dining space out on the deck for all with a swing to keep the overactive children in motion as needed. Great amenities rain or shine.
Birch Row is located on 10acres with a nice stream running along the property line for exploration with parental supervision or a tranquil place to read, write, meditate or paint. The main deck has great views of the valley and lake from which to enjoy a glass of wine provided upon your arrival. The deck has a propane gas gill for cooking and for those who want a more natural cooking experience there is a fire pit with grill/grate in front of the deck for a true outdoor cooking experience. There is also wood provided for free. Can you say bacon, burgers, chicken, steaks, and eggplant over a wood fire? or a great desert in a Dutch oven located in the kitchen.
For those with an electric car there is a set-up to charge your car available at no extra cost all you need to do is plug in before stepping out.
The second floor bedroom has a small room attached to it for reading/breast feeding and to set up a crib or play area for very young children. Thus Mom and dad are not far away from the real young ones.
For the winter months December to March the last ½ mile of road to the house is closed to cars and trucks as that segment of the road is not generally plowed after the bridge. The area is passable by snowmobile, ATV and foot. There is a parking area on the left as you drive down Braley Hill Road that can house 2 snowmobile trailers and cars/trucks. Please do not block others and do not park on the right side as those neighbors get testy.
For Snowmobilers Corridor 11 crosses both Washburn and Braley Hill Roads. Sometimes segments are temporarily closed but you can gain access at Washburn as your backup entry and exit if that occurs. Please follow all rules and see https://alexandrialedgeclimbers.org/trail-map for maps and conditions. Corridor 11 is generally well groomed except through certain dense wooded areas, and you have access to lots of dining in virtually all directions. Bring your GPS/phone though phone coverage is spotty at times.
For skiers including Backcountry skiing, Snow Shoeing, X-country skiing the area is a paradise though you will need to walk in the last ½ miles unless you bring snowmobiles or an ATV. There are four downhill resorts close by; 1) Ragged Mountain (12.Mi), 2) Tenney Mountain (26.4 Mi), 3) Mount Sunapee (36mi), 4) Loon Mountain (46 mi) and others within an hour’s drive. In addition to resorts for the non-down hill skier there many 10’s of miles of logging roads to hike/ski/snowshoe right out the front door. In addition, the AMC Cardigan Lodge is 7 miles away in Alexandria which has tremendous back country skiing and hiking trails that cover over 5,600 acres. Bring your poles and micro cleats if you plan on summiting and follow AMC rules.
During the winter we only accept reservations of one or more weeks at a time. We prefer longer reservations and will prioritize those. If you want the place for a month or more we can make special adjustments to the price after coordinating with VRBO.
As for the non-winter months, it is also a outdoor paradise, but you can usually drive right to the front door. We will add more here soon.
We hope you'll enjoy your stay at our house.

About the host
Hosted by Peter Lanciano
Hello to all and I am Peter from Milford MA. I built my first building on Braley Hill Road when I was 26 on a much larger parcel of land up the hill from 301, as I wanted a place to escape to a place from my busy business life in the Boston/Cambridge area. I never regretted that decision and my children view the Log cabin as there true ancestral home. You will often see me up here and or some of my children.
Why they chose this property
I love it up here as I can get away from all the noise and hassle of modern life. I often just shut off the Wi-Fi and cell phone and enjoy the simple life with the knowledge I can just turn it one when I want to. Try it as you might like it.
What makes this property unique
In my view what make Birch Row so special are the trees yet a clear view of the horizon. Most of the time it is dead silent and it resets your ability to hear the birds in the trees and animals in the forest. Keep your eye open for the deer, bear and occasional moose. They are all about if you just listen and look.
