This beautiful waterfront cottage is located in a quiet residential neighborhood as the last property on a dead-end lane. The cottage sits on 2 private acres with 400` of shoreline on Rockland Harbor in Owls Head. Just over the town line from the abutting city of Rockland; head north for a mile and enjoy the happening Main Street town life with restaurants, galleries, shopping, museums, and theater. Continue north for another 7 miles to the picturesque communities of Rockport and Camden and enjoy what they have to offer as well. Head south and experience "the way life used to be" in Owls Head, Thomaston, Spruce Head, and the St. George peninsula.
This is a wonderful place for families to rent looking to enjoy great scenery and get out and explore the numerous activities offered by the area. Outside you have wooden stairs leading to a small pebble beach, perfect for tying up your Kayak. Thanks to the Rockland Breakwater, the ocean remains very calm and it is great for kayaking. The cottage is comprised of an older one story original section and a new section next door with a second larger kitchen, 2 additional bedrooms, living room with futon and a bathroom. The entire cottage is now a spacious comfortable retreat with ocean views from almost every room.
Please note that this property is located near the industrial end of Rockland. There is a shipyard close by, as well as a station where train cars off-load concrete onto barges. While many past Guests have enjoyed the sights of shipyard activity, occasionally a project at the shipyard may result in loud noises during normal operating hours for the shipyard, 7am - 3:30pm M-F.
BEACH CLASSIFICATION: We have categorized this property as having or being near a sandy beach. More specifically for this property - there is a pea-sized / pebbly beach about 100 feet wide in front to the cottage. Not necessarily a "swimming beach" - this is a good beach for sitting at in folding chairs or launching kayaks. There is not an actual fine sandy beach at this property, but the beach itself is better than most in the area and that is why we have classified it as being "on" a beach. NEED EXTRA ROOM? Just a short distance away, is a quaint comfortable guest suite, which can accommodate another couple (2 guests), while remaining close to the rest of the group.
