About this property
Woodside Cabin in Delaware Water Gap
Summary:
The Woodside Cabin is a charming getaway on the edge of the Delaware Water Gap in the Poconos. Built in the 1930s as a hunters cabin and now modernized but kept in the original design. It is set in a peaceful private spot surrounded by nature, tucked away from busy life, next to the George W. Childs National Park, many waterfalls, Delaware River, and historical town Milford with great restaurants, entertainment and shops.
*Skiing: Shawnee Mountain Ski Resort, Ski Big Bear, Camelback Mountain
The Space:
***The National George W. Childs Park is now reopened to the public after many years of renovations.***
Our little cabin is the perfect retreat no matter what time of year with many outdoor activities nearby! An hour and a half from NYC and a world away with all that the Poconos can offer.
The design highlights all the old charms with modernized futures (including Smart TV, high speed wireless internet, central AC/heating), offering open concept living, full kitchen, cute dining/living area with a gas stove that makes for a relaxing time. Loft area and bedroom on the first floor are both equipped with queen size beds. There is a small library/office space with a desk and windows looking into the woods.
We have a nice size private yard with outdoor dining, hammock, fire pit and gas grill!
The cabin borders the National George W. Childs Park, the library and the loft windows face the tree-line of the valley.
The Delaware Water Gap is one of the most beautiful areas in the Pocono Mountains where 40 miles of the Delaware River run briskly between high bluffs and forested shores. It is a boom for canoeists, kayakers, hikers and scenery seekers. Spectacular Bushkill Falls, near the Native American museum, is worth the short hike.
Dingmans Ferry is known to be surrounded with many opportunities for outdoor activities, its own Dingmans Falls (10 min away) and hundreds miles of hiking, biking trails (McDade Recreational Trail along the Delaware River), waterfalls are a few minutes from the cabin. There are multiple skiing opportunities in the area: Shawnee Mountain Ski Resort (25min), Camelback Ski Resort (45min), Ski Big Bear (40min).
The historic town of Milford PA is close by with antique and specialty shops, yoga, bakeries, great dining options, music and events.
The Grey Towers National Historic Site in Milford is well worth the visit. It is one of our favorite places to see every season either for beautiful spring blooms, or fall leaf peeping. Check the website, multiple events are organized throughout the year.
