About this property
Cozy, Stylish Bluebird Cottage, Steps To Jenness Beach! Fall & Winter Rentals
Cozy Bluebird Cottage is a sunny sanctuary bordering a soothing wildflower meadow, a two minute stroll to a gorgeous, mile-long sandy beach! Buckets of sunshine pour through the windows -- you get all day sun in the cottage. Lounge in the adirondack chairs along the little meadow to greet the sun in the morning, and then when you come home from the beach move the chairs to watch the sun set over the west marsh. The cottage has been refurbished and decorated in colorful but chic cottage style. Unexpected touches and details abound and are meant to put a smile on your face! New visitors describe the cottage as 'a happy house,' 'stunning,' 'irresistible,' and 'delicious!'
It is small but oh so cozy and delightful. Two bedrooms, one bath, a sweet kitchen, stylish living room, a big screened porch where the breezes waft through, the songbirds in the meadow serenade you and where cocktails by sunset or moonlight beckon.
Stroll on the sand to dinner at the Carriage House, one of the best restaurants on the Seacoast. Then walk home along the water's edge with the moon lighting your sandy path. Fabulous Portsmouth is 15 minutes away with all it's colonial history, bustling seaport, world-class restaurants, river walk bars (the famous 'Decks'), boat rides, the acclaimed Music Hall, theatre, live music, nightlife, Prescott Park outdoor concerts and plays, summer festivals, historic Strawbery Banke and so much more!
But of course the main attraction is the beach -- considered by some to be the best beach in New England! The tide goes out 100 yards to create a seaside paradise where kids can play wiffleball, build sandcastles, boogie board or surf while the adults walk from end to end for a great workout. The fantastic Summer Sessions Surf Shop is right down the road, where you can take surf lessons, rent boards, learn to paddle board, grab a frothy cappuccino, browse the hip clothing assortment or just people watch! Serious surfers gather at the far end of Jenness at a spot called Sawyers Beach. There is something for everyone at our fabulous, mile long beach!
A grill and a picnic table, plus the adirondack chairs, create a perfect oasis for sunset cocktails or a summer barbeque along the verdant meadow.
So grab your surfboard, your picnic basket, your birding glasses, your sunscreen and and create memories at magical Bluebird Cottage!

About the host
Hosted by Dahl and Deirdre Taylor
Bluebird Cottage is a very special place for us. For close to twenty years, we’ve vacationed at the New Hampshire Seacoast – and for almost a decade of that time, we actually rented Bluebird Cottage until the Fall of 2017 when we were fortunate enough to make it our own.
While we’ve refreshed the cottage, we’ve looked to retain its fun and relaxing charm. For those that have rented Bluebird Cottage before, we hope that you still find the familiarity, location and cottage amenities that have brought you back. For those renting the Cottage for the first time, we hope you find the same magic and comfort that brought us back year-after-year.
To introduce ourselves, Dahl is an artist and illustrator whose work has been exhibited in galleries across New England. His work can be seen on labels for Samuel Adams and Nantucket Nectar, American Girl books and on Jenness Beach, where he can be seen crafting sand sculptures.
Deirdre has strong New Hampshire family ties and, after a career in New York State government, looks forward to spending more time in the State of her childhood memories. Our son is currently attending university in Boston.
We have many happy memories of our time spent here. We hope you will too.

Why they chose this property
We've heard comments from renters and neighbors like , " a special place", "delicious!" and "heaven".
We agree! No busy roads to cross to get to the beach, a meadow next door, a quiet private road and the sound of the ocean just 400 feet away. Heaven indeed!

What makes this property unique
Its all about the location. The sun-filled Cottage is located on a private road bordering a wildflower meadow. You can sleep to the sound of the ocean, and in two minutes, walk to Jenness beach, considered by many to be the finest beach in New England with over a mile of beach coast line – and a low tide that goes out 100 yards making it the perfect playground for all kinds of activities. Further down the beach you can take surf or paddle board lessons or rent equipment or shop for fun clothing at the Summer Session Surf Shop.
Just up the street is Rye Harbor where you can get fresh lobsters off the boat, or go fishing or whale watching. The Cottage is also just fifteen minutes from Portsmouth, N.H., one of the most vibrant cities on the New England seacoast – with world class shopping and dining, including restaurants led by several James Beard finalist chefs. Cross the bridge from Portsmouth and you’re in Maine with access to outlet shopping, Acadia National Park, world-class theater at the Ogunquit Playhouse and, of course, more beaches.
