Honoring Local Heritage
As Thunderbird Point celebrates its 50th anniversary, we are grateful to continue sharing this special place with guests from near and far.
Long before the establishment of the Lac du Flambeau Reservation in the 1800s, the lakes, forests, and waterways of this region were home to Ojibwe (Anishinaabe) communities who traveled, gathered wild rice, fished, hunted, traded, and cared for these lands for generations.
The name “Lac du Flambeau,” meaning “Lake of Torches,” was given by French traders who observed Ojibwe people using birch bark torches to spear fish at night along the waterways. Today, Lac du Flambeau remains the ancestral and contemporary homeland of the Ojibwe people, whose enduring traditions and deep connection to the Northwoods continue to shape the character of the region.
Visitors can also explore local museums, cultural centers, pow wows, artisan markets, and seasonal events hosted by the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians.

We have many prime weeks available and are running specials, including pontoon boats!
See you soon!
Everything about our stay was wonderful! The host and owner, Mick, was great and very accommodating. The cabin and property is kept extremely clean and has a very nice sandy area that's well maintained right at the edge of the lake. After fishing on the lake, I can say I didn't see any other nice sandy lake fronts like this place on the entire lake. We rented a pontoon boat from the owner which was easy to do and really nice. We had a blast fishing lake Bobbodish, and had some great catches and a few that got away but we'll be back, and will be recommending to friends and family!

Mick & Lollie were so easy to communicate with and were very responsive from the beginning! The cabin was a lovely getaway from the city and was so cute and romantic. Our pup also had a great time and enjoyed the water
Peaceful and restful get away! Just what we needed. The Sullivan's are very nice people & a pleasure to talk to. The fishing is amazing off the pier. Beach area is clean and fun. Highly suggested for couples getaway.
Mick and Lollie were great hosts. The cabin was rustic and the property serine. Very relaxing. The pontoon boat was great! Just what we needed ti unwind for a couple of days.
We came back to WI for a family reunion and needed extra space. This was the perfect spot on a beautiful quiet lake. We couldn't believe how close we were to the lake and how peaceful. We always love to come back to WI!
Perfect accommodations! Very clean, which is important to me. Very accommodating hosts regarding amenities and other services. Hosts were very flexible and easy to work with. Communication with the hosts was very fast and efficient. I would 100% recommend and we would return.
Everything was wonderful. The cabin had all the essentials as well as lots of luxuries. The ability to use the canoe, kayaks, and fishing boat was awesome! The beach area was perfect for cooking out and enjoying the view. The place was clean and comfortable. We will definitely be back!
The hosts mick and lollie were awesome. Did everything you could ask for out of a vacation including fishing info and talking to you like a friend and not just a visitor. The cabin was clean and great for 2 couples and a child. My 8 year old had the time of her life swimming in the clean water and catching crappie and bass. It had everything you needed and more. Not to mention families of loons and eagles. Also the 4th of July fireworks and pow wow were awesome too. We will be back for sure.
