This 2-bedroom Victorian cottage features comfortable, modern furnishings, well-equipped kitchen, and a spacious green yard with a shady back patio and front porch with swing. This white picket fenced, corner lot offers views of the Rocky Mountains' finest 14er peaks. We're just minutes from shops, galleries, restaurants, rafting, fly fishing, biking, hiking, mountain climbing, skiing and hot springs.
Bring bikes or borrow one of our three kept on site for guest use.

We'll leave you alone in a home we've set up to be user-friendly and self-sufficient, but if you need anything, a StayinSalida team member is always nearby ready to help.

Salida is located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains.
This home is 'vacation ready' with a fully appointed kitchen that includes pantry items and paper products to get you started for your stay. Towels and bed linens provided.

Monarch Ski Area is just 20 miles away!

Our little cottage is over 120 years old and is historic to the town of Salida. (See if you can locate it on the photo on the mantel dated 1897)
It is great to park your car and ride bikes or walk to most destinations. We have bikes located in the small shed for use during your stay. The farmers market on Saturday (June-October) is located across the street in the park so you can stock up on local produce, flowers and more!

Bluebird Cottage March 2026

Our stay at Bluebird Cottage was lovely. Everything we could have possibly needed was provided (even treats for our dog). The space was comfortable and the decor was charming. We enjoyed being able to walk to downtown, the park and through the nice neighborhood. If we return to Salida, we would definitely stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Beautiful antique home with vintage furnishings. Loved the kitchen layout. Definitely has a feel of back in time but with just enough modern equipment. Wished it would have been cool enough to build a fire in the stove. Thank you for allowing us to stay on your beautiful historic home!

Bluebird Cottage is filled with charm and comfort. It feels like a real home of a friend with great style and taste who cares about her guests' comfort and not like a rental. The rooms are a good size, comfortable beds, cozy linens and bedding, well-stocked, especially in the kitchen, condiments, spices, plates, napkins, ice, cookware, gadgets, etc. There's a water filter on the kitchen faucet. There were even fresh flowers in a vase on the dining table. There's not a dishwasher, but washing our dishes was easy and the host provides all you need. Plus it's minutes from a bunch of restaurants. Our six-year-old loved playground across the street where we also saw deer.It's an historic Victorian house so there is some old house-ness like creaky floors, but that adds to the charm. One bedroom has many windows so if you're not a morning person you'll want an eye mask.Our family of three really enjoyed our stay. We went in January to ski Monarch, which is a quick drive. We look forward to coming back to Bluebird Cottage to ski again and in warm weather months to enjoy the spacious yard, ride bikes and spend more time in the cute town.

Bluebird Cottage

I have been staying in ABNBs thru out the USA and beyond ever since they came into being and I found The Bluebird Cottage to be one of the best I’ve ever encountered. The location is ideal with an easy walk into the village of Salida and a park mere steps from the front door are a delightful benefit. I love to cook for my Salida & Leadville families during my visits and the kitchen is fully equipped top to bottom. Everything I needed was available. What a joy! The living spaces are open and comfortable with sun pouring in from every window. My bedroom had an array of windows which allowed the Colorado sun to pour in. The bathroom is pleasantly updated and sparkles with a large tub and plentiful racks and hooks for towels & bathing suits. Don’t forget Colorado is knee deep in Hot Springs so don’t forget the proper attire for that lovely experience. Amazingly there is a woodstove available for building a fire for a cozy evening while playing games at the dining room table. The yard is fenced and graced with lovely trees and there is a top grade grill for another alternative for cooking. If you choose the Bluebird Cottage for your stay in Salida you will not be disappointed as it is a memorable and happy experience!
