This property is a themed property that does not disappoint nor scare away. I had never seen Harry Potter and the house was tastefully done for a themed stay. No where close to over the top. It was as advertised and my stay was great. Yes, I did watch Harry Potter during my stay, I felt owed it to the house.

Great place for the price. Fun if you love or are interested in Harry Potter. You can watch the movies for free on their HBOMax subscription. Hot tub is best for 2 but 3 would be a squeeze. Beds are comfortable. Nice fireplace and fun swings over the creek and in the yard. The best is that is it perfectly set with a nice easy drive to Maryville, Knoxville, Pigeon Forge, Townsend and Gatlinburg.

It was a lovely home. We were all adults and chose the home for the location. However, I sent a lot of photos and all my Harry Potter friends are jealous and asking for the details. I would recommend to anyone.

The outside picture was very misleading. I expected there to be neighbors, even though you can’t see any in the picture, but I wasn’t expecting the neighbors to be so close with a garage full of junk that was spilling out of it and across the one lane road was a house with tarps covering the front. The shower floor was slimy. The kitchen was pretty clean, but the refrigerator needed wiped out. The backyard was very nice. The swings over the creek were wonderful.

We did have several issues with the lack of cleaning in the house. The biggest issue was a urine soaked bath mat. We smelled it as soon as we walked in the house. My wife had to throw the mat outside and scrub the floor, as that was damp with urine. Possibly all from a toilet over flow, that is unknown. The headboard on the bed was covered in dust and cobwebs filled every corner. Glass windows were covered with fingerprints, broken shower handles fixed with hot glue, shower door handles all loose and rattling, a large hair clog in the shower drain, under the furniture was dusty and had litter, the porch had rotting railings with exposed rusted screws protruding, the hot tub was rather dirty inside and the filter wasn’t clean. We were there for 6 days and the lawn was never mowed so the grass was quite high. The creek had broken glass, metal and plastic in the water and the bank. The outside lighting was separated and lying in the creek. No dish towels in the labeled “dish towel” drawer. The master bed was supposed to be a queen but is a full size mattress on a queen sized bed frame. The house is charming but seems to be more focused on the theme rather than a clean environment. We pay cleaning fees and to walk into a place is quite upsetting. Even the guest book had a mention of the unkept house.

Why they chose this property

The Whimsical Wand is in a perfect location. Just off of the main 321 highway that leads you to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The home is just 8 minutes from Townsend which is the quiet and laid back town on the Smokies and only 15 minutes from the airport. This is a quiet place and a great escape from the busy world.

What makes this property unique

The Harry Potter theme is by far the most unique feature of this great home. Each room has a theme that aligns with the famous book series and the minor details is where it really shines. The home is creek front and this is really cool for the kids and adults!
