This house had everything we were looking for. A quiet cove & adequate dock that we used for our boat. Access to Carter Creek and the Rappahannock for fishing. Beautiful setting overall.
Loved our stay. Very relaxing location. We were able to dock our boat at the house and access the river with ease.
The house is very nice and the beds comfortable. Thanks for letting us enjoy your house.
As a family from VA Beach and use to boating on the river we absolutely loved this house. It's location is center to the NNK loop.
Can't wait to return again.
This property was very convenient to the regatta that we participated in and Liz could not have been more helpful and was just excellent communicating with us. The view of the creek at sunset is spectacular. The deck was perfect for cocktails and charcuterie. The kitchen is well appointed and the sitting area indoors was perfect for our debriefing and cocktails...looking forward to booking again next year.

Liked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
Very roomy…inside clean but broiler did not work…no toaster. The outside, esp. steps going to deck needed work.
We had some issues ascessing the property through the designated instructions Liz the property owner was very responsive. Overall, it was a good experience. For oder adults, considering this property. All 3 of the bathrooms have tub showers vs walk-ins . Only one of the 3 bathrooms had washcloths. The views are beautiful as other reviews have stated.
A nice home, but dated. Large, comfortable rooms, with nice access to decks. On roadside, but it's a little traveled road so noise not an issue. Badly overgrown trees obstruct views of the creek. Dock is small and not in best condition, especially for kids. Deck furniture in poor condition. Pet friendly so some furniture has been effected. Some updates would really go a long way.
We came to the area to attend a wedding and were not disappointed! Beautiful property overlooking a quiet creek - we spent mornings and evenings on the deck. Excellent communication with the owner who was attentive to make sure our stay was perfect. Highly recommend!
We really enjoyed our stay at this property, a good value. First time staying in Whitestone, and close proximity to Irvington if you need to hit the grocery. Nicely laid out home on a quiet creek and located on the main road. Tucked back nicely and a lovely view of the creek. Still got a bit of road noise but not noticeable when indoors. We really liked that the home’s two floors as both had nice living spaces. Great light filled spaces upstairs. The master upstairs was near the kitchen and sliders out to the deck overlooking the water was nice. Bed was comfy enough and linens adequate. As it was just the two of us we didn’t use the downstairs bedrooms. Bathrooms were plentiful and updated. We chose this place in part for the no pets policy in the listing although the guest book indicated pets may be allowed at additional fee. It seemed as if pets had been there as the living room sofa was in need of cleaning. When the AC wasn’t running the downstairs at times was a tad musty. The outdoor decks and furnishings were adequate but could use a power wash. Well priced, this home is a good value and offers a nice R&R on the beautiful Northern Neck.
The home was nice and perfect for a quick last minute get-away for Mother’s Day! ... there was definitely wear and tare on the older home (water damage on the lower level, broken window and deck boards in need of repair) but, the home was clean and the owner was very easy to communicate with! We were very comfortable for a short stay.
Two porches, we spent time doing puzzles outside and watching the sunrise and sunset, playing guitar, it was wonderful. Big and airy. Sometimes you hear the cars coming by while you were enjoying the view but it was definitely worth it. Comfortable beds. Bring your own salt if you plan to cook!
The home is dated, but that is part of its charm. The deck is a little shaky, though, outside the bedroom glass doors and might need repair soon. The view trumps all. So peaceful and beautiful.
We loved this house! Really pretty, cheerful and open. We hung out inside and on the dock and used our little whaler boat. Not the owner's fault, but the "fragrance" the cleaners left was so over the top and made me feel icky. I'm letting her know.
Nice, secluded home on the water, beautiful view, enjoyed the deck off from the kitchen, will visit again!

About the host
Hosted by Liz Potemra
Liz and Mario are residents of Vienna, VA in FairfaxCounty. Liz's parents bought this property in 1996 as a retirement home, but sadly both passed away two years later. Although they only went there on weekends, the local community got to know them and made us feel like part of the local area. Liz and Mario decided to buy out the rest of the family and keep the home. Before kids, they would use it as a weekend getaway for golf trips. While the kids were young, we rented the property full time to pay for the mortgage, but in between tenants we were able to get down once a year or so. Now that the kids are older, and enjoy the summer on the bay, we like to balance the renting with our own personal enjoyment of the area.
Liz is a real estate agent, licensed in Virginia and works primarily in the Northern Virginia area, but has some great referrals for the Northern Neck if you are looking to stay:)!
Why they chose this property
The Northern Neck is a beautiful hidden gem of Virginia that is loved by all who discover it. This property, in White Stone, is a couple miles from the world renowned Tides Inn in Irvington. Located on Carter's creek, enjoy water access to the Rappahannock, fishing from the dock, or just the views from the decks. Golf at the Tides or the King Carter golf courses. Close to the Dog & Oyster vineyard, halfway between the towns of White Stone and Irvington and 10 minutes from Kilmarnock (on the trolley route in the summer!), shop and antique in this unique area.
What makes this property unique
This property is set in a secluded part of Carter's Creek. Built in the side of a hill, the main level has a deck overlooking the creek. Below, enjoy creek views from the family room and bedroom or decks from each of these.
