About this property

Lake Front Home with Stunning Views

This home is located directly on the water, on the east shore of Lake Dunmore, tucked into a sheltered, half-moon bay. It is a modern, energy efficient, four season home, decorated and furnished by an artist. Located in the heart of Vermont's Champlain Valley, we are close to both Middlebury and Brandon. Lake Champlain is 30 minutes away, and The Green Mountains behind us boast world class skiing at Killington, Pico Mountain, and Sugarbush ski Resorts. Excellent golf, antiquing, gallery hopping and dining are minutes away from this serene spot.

Out front, a large, flat lawn, complete with a rope hammock, a campfire pit, is perfect for for recreation and sunning. The sandy beach is ideal for small children.
We're well off the paved road, at the end of a dirt driveway, so the only sounds you'll hear are the loons. Everything needed for relaxing is provided.

There is one bedroom with a CA King bed, a second room with two twin bunks, and a third with a double bed.

Outside there is a large stone patio with loungers, a cocktail table and umbrella, a picnic table, lawn chairs, and a Weber gas grill.

Sound travels very easily on a lake and I have neighbors. They value serenity and a quiet environment. I ask that you and your guests do too.
If you bring a dog(s) you must agree to keep it always under control and clean up after it. There are numerous neighborhood dogs and we want peace.
Please park prettily. You may have visitors and all cars should stay to the far right of the shared cul de sac. Parking by the upper barn is fine.

Perfect birthday getaway!

We really enjoyed Ashley's home especially the artworks! The location on Lake Dunmore is fantastic and despite a really cold weekend, we enjoyed walking on the frozen lake as well as ice fishing.

Ashley's place was truly a wonderful getaway. Her cozy home is perfectly located for lake activities - we loved kayaking around the little coves. And she has thought of every detail to make our stay pretty darn perfect. Lake Dunmore Gem

Had a wonderful stay at Lake Dunmore in this beautiful property in spite of the rainy weather. Easy access into water for swimming and kayaking/canoeing. Very nice furnishing and everything you need to make your stay nice. It's a perfect size for a couple, but the other bedrooms are a little small for other adults to stay - children would be fine. Lovely view out all the windows facing the lake. Great spot!

A Vermont Gem!

What a wonderful, quiet place to enjoy our daughter's Middlebury College Commencement! We were so busy that we never had the opportunity to enjoy the lake, but it was exactly what we needed to relax from all the activity. Ashley (and Rufus!) thought of everything! So happy we were able to experience this slice of heaven.

An absolutely perfect lake house

We had a fabulous week at Ashley’s house. It is a beautiful home, full of art, color and light. It’s very well appointed. Everything you need is there, Really! We had a week of paddling, walking the nearby trails and just relaxing. Our Golden Retriever and our granddaughter loved it! A truly wonderful week on lake Dunmore in a stunning setting. This was our second stay at Ashley’s beautiful lake house and it was wonderful. The house is full of light and beautiul art, and furnished for ease and comfort. The weather in VT last week was very warm but there was a constant cool breeze off the lake so it was absolutely perfect. We swam, kayaked, played with our granddaughter and our dog in the water all day, every day, and lazed in the sun. All in all my husband and I deemed it a perfect vacation. So much so, I booked for next year! The pic is of our dog Finn, who steadfastly refused to jump off the dock but nevertheless had a week of swimming and ball fetching fun. Great memories until our next visit.

Peaceful lakeside retreat

Our daughters joined my wife and I for part of our week stay. Very comfortable for all of us. With the perfect weather we enjoyed the swimming and kayaking on the beautiful lake. Ashley provides everything you need to prepare meals. Lovely artwork and outside landscaping makes her house a gorgeous place to completely relax and unwind. On the 4th we were treated to a spectacular fireworks display on the lake. Highly recommend!

We loved our peaceful three days unplugged by the lake. The photos are beautiful, but the property and house are even more lovely in person. We were surrounded by a charming, art-filled wonderland. There was everything anyone would need (and more): comfy beds, great books to read, and even an album full of ideas/brochures how to enjoy the area. We made short trips to Brandon and Middlebury which had great food, shopping, and groceries. For our first time using Vrbo, we feel very blessed to have selected Ashley’s property. I’m ready to go back and we just got home.

Relaxing Lakefront Stay

We had a lovely 2 week stay at the lake! This was our first trip to Vermont, and Lake Dunmore was a great home base for relaxation and some day trips to other parts of Vermont. The house was quiet and homey - not one of those rentals where clearly no one has ever lived. It had everything we needed. There’s a deli and small grocery 8 minutes away, and 12-20 minutes away are Brandon and Middlebury with restaurants, breweries and stores. We enjoyed making s’mores, the row boat, the sandy beach entry to the lake, and yard games with our three year old. Bring some bug spray as the mosquitos were extra fierce due to the recent rains!

The lake house

Situated right on the lake which provided stunning views once the fog lifted. The house is warm, cozy and fully equipped. Due to the weather the streaming TV was appreciated and put to good use. The beds were oh so comfy and made for a good nights sleep. Our host, Ashley, was very attentive and we needed for nothing. Rufus has a forever friend in Daisy who loved visiting him, saying hi, then coming home and curling by the very warm fire. Our hike to Silver Lake was impressive, especially being so close, the water falls were spectacular and the climb was gentle. Overall a lovely get away for us all. Thank you.

I'm a self-employed author and illustrator of children's books. I grew up in Middlebury, and have happily returned to the area after 34 years in CA to be closer to my mom. In 2015 I built a state of the art, energy-efficient home right on lovely Lake Dunmore.

I enjoy sharing my colorful, elegant, and artistic home with guests. It's possible we'll meet, as I have created a separate studio apartment in my studio/ArtBarn where I can often be found working on a new book.

I welcome up to 2, sweet dogs who love the country life.

Why they chose this property

My home has several features that make it unique. It is one of the few properties on Lake Dunmore that has a flat lawn with a sandy beach. Many homes around the lake are located at the top of a very steep slope with many steps down to the water. This makes it a great home for small children and anybody who has trouble with a lot of stairs.

My home faces south, so the sun is guaranteed to appear from dawn to dusk, but there is plenty of cool shade as well as airconditioning.

My home is in a wide, deep cove, sheltered from the north winds that sometimes create waves outside the cove. It is always calmer and warmer in the cove.
