About this property

Meursault, Burgundy - luxury renovated barn overlooking vines - ‘Le Clos’

A luxury renovation in a stone vigneron's barn, with secure extensive parking, amazing views and stunning outside space to sip a glass (or two) of wine, cook great meals, and relax in the hot tub gazing at the vines, and only two minutes from the village square.

Le Clos: this is the middle property, slightly smaller than Les Vignes (property reference 436391), and perfect for 4 people. The living area is upstairs, with an open plan living and kitchen benefiting from a huge a frame window that looks directly onto the hills.

Living: very large l-shaped sofa to sit 4/5, window seat to perch on, hd television and all you need to relax.

Kitchen: down a small level from the living room, the kitchen is fully equipt with all you could need, including a smeg fridge and range cooker, plus dining table for 4.

Washing machine, tumble dryer etc are stored in the cupboards in the entry hall, which has plenty of space for coats, shoes and shopping baskets.

Sleeping and bathing: upstairs there is a large bedroom with 6ft bed that can be unzipped to make two singles, with a large en suite bathroom benefiting from a super large shower.

The main bedroom is on the ground floor and is something really special. It has a fitted wardrobes tucked under a beam, a beautiful traditional wooden and upholstered 6ft bed, and an amazing bathroom through an open oak frame with two basins, separate toilet, large walk in shower and free standing bath. Quite the honeymoon suite!

Both rooms have plenty of space for a baby travel cot.

Outside: the garden area is shared by the two houses but is extremely large, especially for the heart of wine village! A top of the range hot tub is on a decking area, there is a luxury rattan sofa/table combination, sunbeds, parasols, and separate large areas with their own large dining tables and bbqs. The views over the vineyards and hills are beautiful day or night - the garden is gently lit at night.

Parking: The large enclosed courtyard has easy access and plenty of parking for several vehicles.

Following years of studying, working and traveling in France, we are complete Francophiles hoping to retire to Burgundy in the future. Our daughters both love France too, and although still at school and university, spend as much time as possible working with us to ensure that the rentals at Rue Montmeix are everything you could want. Sometimes we will be there to welcome guests, but on the occasions we are not, we have a wonderful local manager to look after you. The most enjoyable thing is sharing recommendations of wine and food between our guests and recommending local attractions.

Why they chose this property

After years of wanting to buy a second home in France, we had decided on the wine villages of Burgundy as our favorite location. We wanted to be in one of the prime villages of the area, with easy access to beautiful Beaune. Unable to find property to rent of the quality we required over the years, we were thrilled to find the house through a local firm of property designers and builders - although needing total renovation we fell in love with the charm and peace of numéro 6 immediately, totally won over by the stone, woodwork and fabulously peaceful views.

What makes this property unique

Rue Montmeix is truly our piece of paradise, which we love sharing! Uniquely positioned only 150 metres from the village square and all its amenities (Baker, great butcher, small supermarket, deli, florist, Tabac, 9 restaurants and 50+ vignerons!), the two houses that we rent out have been newly renovated from the beautiful stone winemaker's barn that our house is part of. The houses are calm and quiet, light and cool in summer, and warm and cosy in the winter, with some amazing stone walls and a beautiful oak frame, all carefully renovated by local master craftsmen. They face south, with a small vineyard in front, a recently reclaimed one planted to the right, and views up to the vine-covered hills.

The outside space is huge, especially for a wine village - each house has its own parking space, lots of privacy and its own outside bbq and eating area. In addition, the two rentals share a luxurious decked area and top of the range hot tub.
