WHITE SAND. PALM TREES. STUNNING CARIBBEAN WATERS OF SPECTACULAR SHADES OF BLUE.

WELCOME TO MARGUERITE-A-VILLA!

Renovated and tastefully decorated with tropical island furnishings, Marguerite-a-Villa is a 2-bedroom, 2 bath, beachfront, oceanfront condo with all the amenities of home – but with all the excitement of a tropical getaway!

Nestled in Cowpet West -- a gated community between the St. Thomas Yacht Club and the Ritz Carlton Resort in St. Thomas’ desirable East End -- our condo sits above the white sand beach of Cowpet Bay amid beautifully maintained grounds, lushly landscaped with tropical flowers.

Unwind on the beach below Marguerite-a-Villa, relaxing on a chaise or in a hammock under the warm tropical sun. Or if you prefer, lounge in the cool shade under one of the gently swaying palm trees. Maybe take a swim in the crystal clear, warm ocean waters, or in the beautifully landscaped pool with its blue-stone waterfall and grotto jacuzzi. Have a bite to eat at our beach-side restaurant while enjoying the cool tropical breezes and stunning, panoramic views. Maybe rent a kayak or snorkel gear at the beach shop and explore the crystalline waters of Cowpet Bay. Then sip a late-day cocktail on our balcony overlooking the Caribbean, listening to the softly rolling waves below while you enjoy breathtaking views all the way to St. James Island!

Then in the evening, head into Red Hook village (5 minutes away) to have dinner, or just to walk through town and experience the eclectic vibe of the open-air bars and restaurants and boutique shops -- with so many different personalities – before heading back to your fully air-conditioned condo for a good night’s sleep before your next day’s adventure.

For a more active day, pack a cooler and spend the day beach-hopping to the different beautiful Caribbean beaches within minutes of Marguerite-a-Villa. Or maybe charter a snorkel trip or day sail and explore the waters surrounding St. Thomas and St. John. Or venture further afield to the exotic and beautiful Tortola, or Virgin Gorda, or the party center of the BVI’s, Jost VanDyke -- all within easy access of our Red Hook ferry dock, just 5 minutes away!

Another fabulous day trip is to enjoy a quick, 15 minute ferry trip across Pillsbury Sound to the laid-back but fun-filled St. John to visit one or more of the island’s many pristine, white-sand beaches. As your ferry docks in Cruz Bay, you’ll see St. John’s many vibrant and multi-colored waterfront bars, restaurants, and shopping boutiques. Enjoying Cruz Bay's waterfront happy hours and/or shopping is a relaxing and fun way to end a long day at the beach. Taking a day trip to St. John – or an evening, happy-hour, or dinner excursion trip there, is always a memorable way to spend a day or two (and some evenings!) while visiting Marguerite-a-Villa!

Also on St. Thomas are many opportunities for snuba, kite-boarding, para-sailing, surfing, and all kinds of water-sports. In addition, St. Thomas offers many eco-tour adventures both above and below sea level and the famous Coral World at Coki Point.

Enjoy shopping? Spend a morning or afternoon in the expansive, outdoor Havensight Mall at the cruise ship docks. Or venture a bit further down the road to downtown Charlotte Amalie where you will find many more upscale shops lining the waterfront and the charming, narrow passage-ways of Charlotte Amalie. These shops offer duty-free bargains on the finest names in jewelry, watches, cameras, crystal, china, clothing, and more.

This place is beautiful!!

We had such a wonderful time here. Loved waking up to the sound of waves and the sunrise. Then got to eat breakfast on the balcony overlooking sailboats. We saw spotted eagle rays, a turtle and many fish right from the balcony. This place is beautiful!! Thank you for letting us stay here!!!

Beautiful place, stunning water and beaches and amazing owners

We stayed here with our 2 boys and Marguerite was wonderful with communication, ideas and helping us plan even with the hurricane damage to the island in the best way possible. The condo is beautiful and the location is great. Thanks for a wonderful family vacation given what you could control. We hope to go back when everything is back up and running entirely!

Best family getaway!!

Our family of 4 has not been on a family vacation since 2009. This was the best vacation we could have asked for! The condo was immaculate! The view was stunning! We cooked three times and the owners had every cooking pot, pan, and utensil we could have needed. This was truly the best vacation ever!

Marguerite-A-Villa

Number one, the pictures posted online were current! Our stay at Marguerite-A-Villa was amazing! To have your own beach, pool, restaurant, and grill provided you with never having to leave the condo or the resort grounds. We would certainly rent there again. There is absolutely nothing negative to say about our 7 night 8 day stay.

We Loved Marguerite-A-Villa!!!

This was our first trip to St. Thomas, and our stay at Marguerite-A-Villa was fantastic! Comfortable furniture, tasteful decor, a great view, and just a quick walk to the beach....what more could you ask for? We also enjoyed the east end of the island and spending time in Red Hook. We are definitely looking forward to our next trip! Thank you, Marguerite!

Incredible Vacation

We made our first trip to St. Thomas December 4th to December 11th. This property was beyond our expectations. The condo was spacious and spotless. The location was breathtaking. The beach was private with very few people during our stay. Marguerite was great to work with and Brittany the property manager was very informative. Can't wait to go back next year. Would definitely pick this property again!

Outstanding!

We have stayed in many VRBO properties but this was the cleanest, best equipped, most comfortable, most convenient, property ever. The kitchen literally has more to offer than my own home and I’m a big cook. It’s obvious you go out of your way to accommodate and it is very appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about your place and St Thomas and St John. Our excursions were spot on! Thank you.

Wonderful week at Cowper Bay

This is our second time to To Cowpet Bay but our first time staying in Marguerite-a-ville. We loved our time in St Thomas and this condo was an excellent home base. The furnishings are beautiful and comfortable. The view is priceless. We spent mornings and evenings out on the balcony. Nothing beats the sound of the water lapping up on the rocks right below the unit. Beach is spacious and relaxing. So glad Sangria’s is open again! Thank you for sharing your home with us. We cannot wait to come back and stay with you again!

Wish we could repeat this every year

2 couples - Had a wonderful week at this property. Beautiful setting on the beach, very helpful information ahead for arriving plus very helpful "Jane" on site to get us settled. Perfect for all of us with separate baths/bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen, and a lanai right on the water for total relaxing. We had a car for getting around the island but the roads are not easy to drive on, especially at night. We stayed on the property for all our evening meals. Good barbeque unit at front door and Moe's Market in Red Hook is close and has everything you need for food and wine and whatever. Sangria's restaurant is close and fun. Would highly recommend Marguerite-a-Villa.

Amazing condo on beautiful St Thomas

We just returned from an incredible trip to St Thomas. The condo was beautiful. Clean, spacious, well stocked and beautifully decorated. Brittany (house manager) greeted us and showed us around. A welcome basket with snacks and local rum was a major bonus! We slept peacefully, with the doors open so we could hear the crashing waves below each night. We watched the sunrise each morning with our breakfast and coffee. The owners have done an incredible job with recommendations for restaurants, grocery stores, ferry information and of course the beautiful beaches. We did it all! We can’t wait to come back next year. We travelled with our two daughters ages 9 and 11 and it was our favorite family trip yet. They said it was even more fun than Disney!

Winter getaway

The condo was very nice, the pictures are accurate. What stood out the most to us was how quiet it was, so very relaxing. Also very close to Red Hook, but you definitely need a car. Our only complaint was the washer was not working properly, we notified the property manager and she said that the owner of the condo was aware, the lid would not lock so the clothes would not spin. Very frustrating! And the other thing was the balcony was loaded with ants, you couldn't put your feet down otherwise they were climbing up your legs.

Our Honeymoon

We could not have been happier with our stay!! The villa was spacious, gorgeous and spotless. We felt right at home even bringing our two small children. Everything you need is provided…beach towels, sand toys, coolers, detailed information on the area and a very well stocked kitchen. Brittany who met us upon arrival was wonderful. We traveled and explored during our 9 day stay, but loved our little beach right at the room the best. It was very private, provided shade for good beach napping and we saw all sorts of amazing wildlife while snorkeling. Sea turtles, starfish, crabs, coral, sting ray and many types of colorful fish. The restaurants and pool bar were delicious with great customer service. The kids loved the iguanas, chickens and kitties that roam the property. We can’t wait to return!! Thank you for so many wonderful memories in paradise

Fabulous beach view!

We had a fabulous vacation at Marguerite-a-villa. It was very relaxing and the villa was comfortable with gorgeous views. Marguerite, the owner and Jane, the property manager were wonderful to work it. We enjoyed eating at the restaurants on site and enjoyed using the gas grill provided to fix dinners as well. The beds and bedrooms are very comfortable however the bathrooms are a little small. The balcony looks right over the ocean and you can hear the waves breaking. It was conveniently located to the beach. We had previously been to St. Thomas, and the Red Hook area is our favorite. We rented a car and feel you need one to completely enjoy the island and the Red Hook area. You are close to the Red Hook marina which is the gateway to explore the other islands. The condo and area would be great for all ages. We look forward to returning.

No Need to Look Further_Paradise Awaits

I cannot say enough about the property, the location and the owners communication. All are TOP notch!! Marguerite worked hard to get us in a day early when a snow storm threatened to delay our arrival and she made it happen. This was the perfect place to stay with our two adult children as we each had our own bathrooms. The beach right outside the condo is amazing and one day we decided to just relax and stay there, it was one of our favorite days. The restaurant in the Elysian right by the beach is really good and we ended up eating there three times! St thomas is so beautiful and this condo and the setting it's located in makes it all just perfect. A five minute drive to RedHook for dinners if you don't want to cook. But the kitchen is totally stocked so cook at home if you want. I can only be so lucky to return again! thanks for sharing your home with us.

Everything we had hoped for!

Unit is beautiful and well equipped with anything you would need! View is outstanding, taxis are easy and quick to get, beach is beautiful and a quick walk to get there, and the welcome package was SO sweet! If I HAD to pick something to improve, the only thing I can think of would be MAYBE the front door entrance needs to be brightened up, and the patio furniture arranged slightly different maybe because the couch is a little oddly in place and would help the flow by putting with the lower set of furniture so company can sit together. Flowers on the table faded and outdated, But to be honest, its forcing myself to critique the situation because in reality its really a nice place and you won't be disappointed in the dumb stuff I pointed out. I truly LOVED our visit and everything about this place. We would come back again easily! THANK YOU for sharing your place with us and we would HIGHLY recommend it!

A wonderful stay - Beautiful property

4 adults stayed for an extended MLK weekend. Condo and property were spotless. The condo was beautifully decorated and well appointed with every possible kitchen item needed. The property was well stocked with plenty of paper products, soap and cooking basics (oil, salt. etc). The property manager and owners were also a delight to work with. The view from the condo is breathtaking! You will be amazed at the sunrises and sunsets as you enjoy your coffee or an end of day cocktail. Beds were very comfortable and the sheets and towels were fresh. If you just feel like staying local, Cowpet Beach is literally an easy 3 minute walk down the stairs. If you feel like going out to another beach, Lindquist, Sapphire and Redhook are very easy short drives. Restaurants and stores are also a quick drive down the road. I would highly recommend this location. You will be very comfortable and very pleased with your choice. We hope to be back ;-)

Wonderful Week at Marguerite-a-Villa!

We really enjoyed our stay at this property on Cowpet Bay, which we visited with another couple a few days ago. The location and view off the balcony is great...quiet & private, beautiful beach just steps away with nice snorkeling, access to restaurants (Sangria has great food and you must try the Bushwackers!). The villa was a perfect size for two couples with separate baths. You can tell the new owners are doing some quality improvements, as it is nicely appointed with furnishings and some new major appliances. Owner and manager were both great to communicate with and very helpful with suggestions, too. We rented a car for part of our stay to see the beaches, do a day trip by ferry from Red Hook to St. John and go in town to Charlotte Amalie for shopping (avoided high cruise days). Other half of the week we used taxis (very expensive, so adds up to as much or more than a rental, but it was nice to not have to worry about driving). We did a sunset dinner cruise one evening, which we'd recommend (booked through the beach hut). We wouldn't hesitate to go back to Marguerite-a-Villa!

Highly recommend this property

This was our second stay at Marguerite-a-villa and we were very happy with our decision. Very comfortable condo with outstanding views from the deck. There is also very easy access to the pool and beach. We started and ended every day on the deck with our friends enjoying the beautiful views and the sound of the waves. We did not rent a car this time and had very good success calling a taxi to pick us up at Cowpet and take us to Redhook, Charlotte Amalie, the beaches and the airport. We typically only had about a 5-10 minute wait for a taxi. I recommend this option over renting a car. Our only disappointment was that the Pool Bar was not open and the restaurant with breakfast and casual dining was not open. The Caribbean Fish Market by the pool and beach served drinks and lunch but they closed from 2-5. We could understand why the casual restaurant was still closed based on the hurricane damage but we didn’t understand why the pool bar was closed since the structure seemed to be fully intact.

Just plain wonderful!

We have been coming to STT for many years and this year we stayed in Cowpet Bay at Marguerit-a-villa. The complex is a nice gated community and the grounds are wonderful with nice landscaping, pool, hottub and 2 onsite restaraunts. The owner really went above and beyond with the decor and provisions. Great beds, baths, kitchen supplies, living room. The beach was very nice and the best part is that there are no cruise ship tours heading there to harsh your mellow. At first I wasn't sure I liked the boats from the yacht club in the view, but after day 1 they were mesmerizing and just added to the peace and calmness of the vacation. I miss the view and gentle wave sounds every night! The unit is perfect for one or two couples. Hubby is a professional chef and there was a great grill full of propane and good knives and kitchen goodies so you can cook in all the time and save money. The location is perfect (quiet) but a short ride to Red Hook for groceries and rum as well as restaraunts and the ferry to St. John. I would definately recommend this place to others. Owner is great to work with too! We plan on coming back next year!

Wonderful and Relaxing

We absolutely enjoyed our stay at this condo. From the moment we walked in and saw the turquoise water. We spent almost every morning on the deck, relaxing, eating breakfast and reading. It was so peaceful and directly on the water. The condo is nicely updated, including beautifully tiled showers. Plenty of room for our family of five to spread out. Everything we needed was in the kitchen too. The property is nicely secluded and quiet. We enjoyed the pool, beach and SUP boars sitting on the beach. Nice snorkeling to the right near the rocks. There is still construction going on at the resort Nextdoor and at Cowpet East (scaffolding covered most of the east building). Pros/cons is no lunch/drink option or fitness room open and there was some loud jackhammering in parts of the day; upside is it feels so pro eye. There was never more than 2-3 families in the pool and we often had it to ourselves! Pool/hot tub is open late with lights so it’s nice to take a late swim. We dove to several beaches and to St John twice (car ferry and passenger ferries very easy). St John is gorgeous! Had fantastic meals at XO, pesce, and others. We can’t wait to go back one day!

Nice and Easy

Our family of four just returned from a week's stay at this condo in Cowpet Bay West. The condo was very well maintained and spacious and accommodated our group really well. With 2 teenagers (1 boy, 1 girl) and all their tech gear, there was plenty of room for each person to have their own 'space'. The property overall was fairly nice... Typically we stay at resorts where everything is virtually at your fingertips, so I have high expectations. For this trip we opted to spend our money on excursions and offset the cost by staying in a vrbo... So consequently things like having towels at the pool, beachside waitstaff and organized activities were not provided. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but when you are shelping a big bag full of towels, cooler, etc... Out to the pool/beach everyday, it gets a bit tedious... I'm sorry to say I have been spoiled by some really nice places. However, we just needed to keep reminding ouselves that while nice to have, those amenities equal hefty resort fees! In general, the grounds were clean and landscaping was nice. We enjoyed our 'pet' iguana that hung out in the palm tree next to the balcony, every day. My only complaint is that there were only 3 beach towels provided. We made due by using a bath towel, but there should be enough to match the capacity of the unit. Even better would be 2 sets so that one could be left to dry rather then using the dryer every night.

About the host

Hosted by Marguerite Hefferon

Host profile image
Marguerite and George are professionals living in the New York metro area who have been vacationing in the Virgin Islands since 1994. Our entire family, including our three children and our extended family, all love the islands -- and our eldest son was even married here in 2009!

Why they chose this property

While we have vacationed on many Caribbean islands, we always found ourselves returning here to the Virgin Islands. We fell in love with Cowpet Bay about 4 years ago because it had everything we wanted in a Caribbean vacation: Cowpet has an uncrowded, white sand, beautifully palm-fringed beach where we could relax in the Caribbean quiet and have privacy. Yet within minutes of Cowpet is a vibrant little town and and all kinds of exciting activities and adventures. Cowpet has one of the best beaches on the island, has beautifully landscaped grounds, wonderful cooling breezes, and spectacular views of the Caribbean!

We love waking up to the stunning views out to St. James Island, while sipping coffee on the lanai watching the little boats dock next door at the Yacht Club. Some mornings we stroll down to the quiet beach and flop on beach chairs with our coffee and books while we decide what adventure we'd like to plan for the day.

We also love the convenience of Cowpet Bay's location just minutes to a variety of other beautiful beaches, and 5 minutes to Red Hook with its varied collection of bars and restaurants, and a ferry dock that can take us to so many different islands and so many different adventures -- all at our fingertips.

If you are the kind of person who might decide while you are swimming at 4:00 that you'd like to grab a quick shower and hop the 5:00 ferry to St. John for happy hour along the waterfront, then this is the place for you! Or if you're the kind of person who likes to stay on the beach til it's dark, then cook a quiet meal when the sun goes down, this is still the place for you! And that's what we love about our condo -- it offers a wonderful mix of serene quiet, tropical beauty, or a party atmosphere -- depending on your mood and personality!
