Fisherman's Cottage with amazing sea views - set in old quiet cobbled square
Gorgeous Fisherman's cottage, recently renovated to a very high standard, with views over the harbour, Bambrough Castle and Farne Islands. Set in a lovely, quiet square very close to the harbour. The following is included: parking for 1 car, wifi, wii with numerous games and controllers, Netflix, bedding and heating. Cottage is accessed via flight of stairs and therefore not suitable for the disabled. Dogs allowed. Out of season/non-major holiday periods, we accept booking for the following dates: Friday to Monday (3 nights) or Monday to Fridays (4 nights). The daily rates have been worked out on this basis. However, if you need greater flexibility, hopefully we can accommodate you and work out a price based on a mix of weekend and week day rates. If you would like to stay for 1 week or longer out of season/non-major holidays, please enquire about the price because we will apply a generous discount - we will not merely add the mid-week and weekend price together. During holiday periods, the price is based on staying 1 full week (Saturday to Saturday) and is therefore already discounted from the daily rates. Thank you.

Janet, so pleased you enjoyed your stay. The entrance to the court yard fits a transit van in and so surprised by people finding it tight. All the best and lovely having you stay with us. 😊

Perfect location and great property giving easy access to the town and beaches. The views from the lounge are lovely. Our party consisted of 3 adults, 2 children and 2 labradors and the property served us well! Plenty of room. We appreciated the call from Dawn the day before to introduce herself and to ensure we had her number in case we needed it - we didn’t!

Short break in Northumberland
It was clean and well placed. The photos of the view have been carefully taken and don’t really show the rooftops which you look out onto as you sit in the lounge area. Yes there are stunning views, if you stand up by the window.

Hi Lyne and Brian
The views are stunning looking out onto the sea, castle and Farne Islands. You can even see Holy Island. The sunsets are truly amazing from both large doors. We have one row of houses in front which are 2 floors high, our cottage has 3 floors hence looks over the top of the row in front onto the sea. Most properties in Seahouses look onto roads/streets. Our cottage is very reasonably priced considering its position so close to the beach and harbour. To have unrestricted views you’ll pay £££££ so much more. The cottage is very clean and so thanks for that mention.
Delightful stay with fabulous views. Wonderful sunsets looking towards Bamburgh Castle and the Farne Islands. Private parking was a real bonus! Very spacious property over three levels and very nicely presented and in a great location. I highly recommend a stay here as there is so many lovely places to visit nearby. It was fabulous and I was very sad to leave. Dawn was very easy to get a hold of when required, responded quickly and was really friendly. Thank you for a very relaxing break.

Great base for getting around to all the places we wanted to visit. Property is an upside down one so took a bit of getting used too. View from the top floor with lounge has views out to sea but there are roof tops of other properties in front and I did think we would have direct views as from the photo I thought we be looking at the beach. However this didn’t spoil an amazing holiday in a beautiful part of the UK

Hello - I’m glad you enjoyed the cottage. I’m sorry the cleaner didn’t leave a cloth for you but I’m sure saved by the co-op being a couple of minutes walk away. Thanks for feeding back. Dawn
Upper floor lounge/ diner excellent with beautiful view to the sea and Bamburgh castle. Be aware that only one double bed , bunk beds and Trundle bed so not great if a party of adults. ( this is clear on description but we missed it!) It would have been nice to have some local information and guidance re dustbins etc but this may not be possible due to covid.
Beautiful comfortable property with all amenities required in a good location with amazing long distance views over the beautiful Bamburgh beach and castle. We had an amazing 3 nights here and will definitely be coming back thanks!

Excellently positioned with everything we needed to hand. The birthday girl was made up as we all were. Loved looking out at the lovely views. Hosts attentive to queries. We'll be back. Thank you.

Thank you for the "welcome fudge". We all enjoyed our stay at the Fisherman's Cottage in Seahouses, it was bright and airy with lovely views. We liked the Juliette balconies and especially the tall chairs and cafe style table. It was very handy for the shops (especially the co-op for purchasing our packed lunches and other food etc) and walks, the beach and boat tours.
We were disappointed that the room settings and table settings were not as the photos on the site, there were incomplete sets of plates and bowls and several were chipped, as were some of the mugs. Also there seemed to be no complete set of glasses, three only of the tumbler type for water or beer and three only of the plastic stemmed wine glasses which was very disappointing, although we did appreciate the large mugs. There was a good set of table cutlery, the two large knives for food prep were good and sharp but there were no small paring knives. We also found only one oven glove but there seemed to be sufficient dishes and bowls for cooking and we appreciated the foil etc left for our use.
Other little niggles were that on arrival the bathroom bins had not been emptied and there were crumbs on the soft couch, (the leather couch was uncomfortable). We couldn't find the pole openers for the (Velux?) roof windows so had to stand on a chair to open them.
We lubricated the front door and several of the other doors as they were very stiff to use, probably because of the salty atmosphere.
The shower didn't look very clean: there was a lump of soap stuck in the bifold door and much mould around the bottom, both showers need replacing/upgrading as there was poor water flow.
Another annoyance was that the chairs and TV shake when the washing machine is running and the soap dispenser drawer is very much in need of a clean.
Although there were six beds we felt that the cottage was more suitable for a family with primary age children rather that six adults.

Hi Valerie, thanks for commenting but I’m very confused by your comment about the room lay set, all rooms are exactly as shown on the photos. Absolutely nothing has changed! I’ll mention the few niggles to our cleaner but she’s usually very good and we don’t get complaints about cleanliness or any of your other issues. I feel you’ve been unfairly hypocritical. Dawn
Clean, light, airy and comfortable accommodation with delightful views towards Bamburgh Castle. Excellently situated to access many iconic parts of Northumberland
We had a great time as we had a big occasion to celebrate and had not seen family members, in some cases, for over 6 months. Also, we love Northumberland, we brought our children up there. We had imagined the property to be a cottage, as desribed, however, really it is a modern looking apartment in an old building. It comprises first and second floor accommodation. We were 6 adults, mostly very tall,so the restricted head room in places caused problems. Our friend, who stayed 2 nights at the start of our trip, banged her head in the living area and she is fairly small. Purple bruise to show for it. The entrance to the square is very tricky as is parking if you have more than one car. I think the apartment would be ideally suited to a family with 3 or 4 children, not 6 adults.
However, the property was obviously a Labour of love for the owners and had a lot going for it, mainly the views from the living area which were wonderful.
WiFi, was problematic!

Thanks Gillian for your comments although we do disagree with them. It’s a fisherman’s cottage built in 1860, not just an old building. The entrance to the cobbled square can fit a transit van through and so plenty of room. The cottage comes as advertised with space for one car in the square; there is plenty of other parking in Seahouses for additional cars. The living area is large and headroom is not limited; my husband is 6ft2 and never banged his head. Re: wifi it’s a rural location and so occasionally wifi not the fastest. Families of 6 always stay with us and have never complained about lack of space. I know you complained about the fact there was only a little bit of washing up liquid left in the bottle when you arrived and I’m sorry about it; cleaner forgot to put a new bottle out. Best wishes.Dawn
About the host
Hosted by Dawn McIntosh
I am a Solicitor and my husband and I purchased the cottage in 2014. The cottage was in a dreadful state of disrepair when we bought it and we worked hard to restore it. We named the cottage Salty Kisses. We started holiday letting in August 2015, and it has proved very popular. We have two sons, Aaron (12) and Isaac (10) who love surfing. We absolutely adore the Northumberland coastline with its gorgeous, yellow sandy beaches. We also own Sandy Toes cottage, connected to Salty Kisses, and together they sleep 12.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with Salty Kisses because of the amazing views over the harbour. From the top floor you can see Holy Island, Bambrugh and the Farne Islands. The colour of the sky on an evening changes every half an hour and sitting watching it with a nice glass of wine is amazing.
What makes this property unique
The most unique benefit of Salty Kisses has to be the stunning views.
