We spent a fantastic long weekend in Northumberland. We were delighted with the house. Everything you need in a home, plus the tastefully chosen decorations, make you feel very welcome. I highly recommend it, and thank you, Nicola, for allowing us to visit your wonderful home.
Very comfortable, well equipped and clean house which is 2 minutes walk from the co-op. Thoughtful extras include a bookcase with dvds and a comtemporary books.
Stunning house with everything you need for a home from home stay in Northumberland. Excellent location for exploring local area. Parking situation not ideal, you may have to park around the corner due to new double yellows on main road.
A stunning property and location. The photographs do not do it justice. It's a lovely accommodation with games, books and DVDs. Netflix kept our grandchildren happy. A great base for exploring Bamburgh, Alnwick and Warkworth castles as well as a breathtaking coastline.

Thank you for your lovely review however I was hugely disappointed to find you had taken a dog into Dovecote House. Dovecote isn’t and has never allowed dogs, this is due to a severe family allergy which meant that I couldn’t clean and had to get an emergency cleaner in to do a full deep clean which cost us time and money
Clean and well equipped.Only drawback was parking and having to carry all our kit up a long, slippery under foot path. Path was pebbles and flags, but both moved when you walked on them. Flags at the bottom were distanced for easy walking but at the top you had to walk on the pebbles as flags were too far apart & the pebbles were slippery even though they were dry.
Superb townhouse, the best self catering property we have stayed at in the uk.Very well equipped and stocked with all the necessities for a staycation.Great location for exploring Northumberland and the Scottish Borders,so many day trips reachable within 90 minutes drive of the house.Cant recommend enough for a family break in this part of the country.
Final word for the Milan restaurant in Wooler, absolute must if you're in the area.
We have all thoroughly enjoyed staying at this holiday home , it has everything & more that you need to make it a home from home . It’s immaculately clean & all fixtures and fittings are of a high standard.
We were all so comfortable here and could of easily stayed longer .
It’s a great base for visiting and Wooler itself is a lovely village .
We would highly recommend Dovecote House !

Oh dear !
Parking on a busy road. Access 50m away. No cycle storage. Building work on terrace. Four beds on second floor. One bed and bathroom on first floor. Footpath though gardens of other properties leading to town. Property itself was nicely presented, clean and warm. Hosts are very helpful but as a holiday rental Dovecote House is really disappointing. There is only one entrance door. The terrace is not as represented and leads to a 3m unfenced sheer drop. Frying pan is dangerous. One hob light doesn’t work. We considered moving out. VBROs photos are a case of misrepresentation.

Thank you for your review of Dovecote House however we are rather disappointed on your comments as when we spoke to you in person and asked how everything was you replied lovely and quiet, there was no complaints at all.
On the house description it clearly states that parking is on the road at the bottom of our private path, this is not a busy road. When I emailed you all the information before your stay is clearly stated that there was no parking on the neighbours land, this is also in the information book in the house. You then proceeded to park on it which lead to embarrassment on all sides when the neighbours had to ask you to move.
Our brick outhouse which is bin storage also stores two bicycles which many guests have used, in this instance we didn’t see any bicycles neither did you mention you had any so the key was not provided to lock it.
As most holiday lets we are in a residential area so some maintenance on other houses can be expected at times. We share our terrace with the house next door and at the moment there is a patio being built and the garden landscaped in their garden, this is short term. As for the 3 metre drop this is in next doors garden and under no circumstances should any of our guests be on that land.
Access to our house is by our private path however there is a shorter walk to the high street and it does go past our neighbours front doors, gardens and parking. It is a public footpath and has been for over 130 years. As with all old terraces you will find set ups like this across the country, it adds to the character.
Thank you for letting us know about the frying pan and this has been replaced, we knew about the extractor fan build and we are waiting on a replacement. Thank you for the nice comment on how clean Dovecote is, I clean myself and take great pride in it as I’m sure all small family businesses do.
As for the photos these were taken by myself and the house is exactly the same apart from the new beds and the coffee table that has been placed in the first floor sitting room. The bedding is different as it gets replaced every year.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay , the property was faultless and great base to explore the Scottish Borders and all of what Northumberland has to offer . Would highly recommend .
Had a lovely relaxing break at this well appointed house. All amenities were provided. Great location for exploring the local area. Enjoyed visits to Alnwick Castle, College Valley, Edinburgh, Cragside and Northumberland coast.
Everything you need for a relaxing long weekend, would have loved to stay longer. Great access to the coast by car, walks in all directions. Lots of lovely coffee shops and places to eat. Variety of shops in Wooler for all you might need. Comfy beds, fluffy soft towels, everything you need in the kitchen for a proper sit down dinner, even a gravy boat and dish.
We had a great holiday here, the kids loved the first floor living room and all the steps going down in the garden. I loved sitting on the patio at the front of the house which was quite private with views over the moors. The Co-Op round the corner was a bonus and the takeaway fish and chip shop. We were cosy comfortable and warm - good bathroom, large living area and everything to cook your own meals. Beds all warm and comfy. Great we would go again definately.
A clean, fresh and spacious house with lovely thoughtful extras.
We had a relaxing time in this comfortable property. The house looked nice in the online photos and was even brighter and more modern than expected. The property is very well placed for trips to the coast or inland to the National Park. We always got an on-road parking spot nearby. Wooler is a pleasant town to walk around and our kids loved the sweetie shop.
In the house we had everything we needed and more. The games and DVDs and books were very welcome, as well as the treats left in the kitchen! I’d recommend it to other families as a great place to stay.
By far the most spacious and well furnished accommodation we have stopped in with excellent scenic views of the countryside , 2 flights of stairs may be an issue for some but parking on the road a 1 minutes walk away we felt was not a problem. The coop and 2 takeaways where very handy being a short distance away.
I have rated properties 5* before but having stayed here this is most definitely 5*. Lots of space, spotlessly clean, kitchen has everything you need, lots of pots and pans. Only thing missing was a seive. Great location for exploring and highly recommended The Anchor. Friendly landlord and very reasonably priced good quality pub grub. Overall had a lovely stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dovecote House. The property was perfect for us and was spotlessly clean. It was really close to the pleasant town of Wooler, and there was loads to do close by. The welcome pack is a really pleasant touch and much appreciated. We would highly recommend it as a great place to stay and would happily book it again.
Dovecote is just perfect in a gorgeous spot over looking the hills. Wooler has great local shops and in the ideal spot for exploring the national park and coast.
This place is a lovely home from home. Obviously renovated to a superb standard and with everything you could need.
The hosts welcomed us with biscuits, wine, tea, coffee and milk and the place was pretty central for most things.
Although parking is not directly outside, we never had any bother finding somewhere.
Very comfortable, well equipped, had everything we needed , thanks for the wine and biscuits, a great holiday had by all

About the host
Hosted by Nicola Brock
We live in the south of Northumberland and have had a static caravan in Wooler for the last 10 years. When the opportunity came up to buy dovecote house we grabbed it with both hands. After 9 months of renovations, a lot longer than we expected, we're thrilled with the results.
Why they chose this property
When we first saw Dovecote House we feel in love with its character and the views. They always say you know the instant when you walk into a house and we had that feeling on our first viewing. Our children have asked many times if we can move in and sometimes on a Sunday when we had been busy getting it ready we could have quite happily said yes. Hopefully our guests will feel the same way.
