Excellent communication prior to our visit and during. Exceptionally clean, and well provided with kitchen equipment and lots of welcome gifts. Very easy access to A1 in a very quiet location. Good off- street parking. Highly recommended
It was a wonderful experience. The cottage and garden make you want to just stay there. Also the location is perfect, with the beach, connections and lovely destinations nearby. Jacqui was a perfect host!
We enjoyed our short trip and the lovely cottage. Everything was perfect and suited our needs perfectly

Very comfortable and clean. Quality accommodation in quiet area but close to beautiful beaches and interesting historical landmarks.
Weather typically British so unable to do much of English costal path but this gives us a reason to return
We enjoyed our stay at Mona’s Cottage. It was apparent that the property manager, Jacqueline, had considered the needs of guests, with everything needed for a self-catering stay provided and a generous welcome pack with tasty local produce provided too. We quickly settled in and felt comfortable - almost like being at home.
The location was perfect for visiting the local area.
We would stay here again.
Great cottage, no suprises was exactly like the photos, so lovely, clean and had everything we needed for a lovely stay. Jacqui had left us a welcome basket which was very thoughtful, she popped by to see us too which was unexpected but lovely to meet her. Irs in a great area to visit Berwick which we loved and all the surrounding areas including the scottish borders. Bed was comfy, kitchen well equipped, garden private. We had a peaceful stay and would highly reccomend!

Lovely cottage in a great location.
We received a warm welcome from Jacqui and she told us everything we needed to know about the cottage. The cottage itself was furnished to a high standard with everything you need for a comfortable self catering stay and lovely to come home to after a day out sightseeing. Well positioned to explore the local area, we took the train to Edinburgh from Berwick, visited Royal Yacht Brittania, Alnwick castle and Lindisfarme. We would love to stay at Mona's Cottage again in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful review. I absolutely love reading that guests have enjoyed their stay at Mona's and that they have enjoyed the local area. It was a pleasure to meet you and have you as guests, it would be lovely to see you again.
This cottage provides everything to spend a great holiday time. Very well situated near the Scottish border, 5 minutes by car from the sea and a wonderful beach, very quiet and comfortable and well-equiped. The quite big garden is lovely. Many places to visit around in England as well as in Scotland. Communication with Jacqui was very easy and she will always help if needed. We will certainly return if spending holidays again in this region.
The cottage was clean and comfortable with a lovely garden. It was well equipped. The shower was over a deep bath and a bit difficult to climb in and out for someone with slight mobility issues, but plenty of hot water. The cottage is ideally placed for exploring Berwick on Tweed, Lindisfarne, north Northumberland and the Borders and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Jacqui was most helpful at all times.

Thank you for taking the time to write a Review.
I am pleased you enjoyed your stay, and yes I understand about the bath. Unfortunately it had been installed and the bathroom tiled before I realised, however on the plus side, you get a lovely deep bath.
Thanks again.

We are two mature bikers and the cottage provided secure parking for our 'boy's toys'! The cottage was spotless and absolutely beautiful with everything anyone would need for a comfortable stay. The location is ideal for exploring both sides of the border, and the neighbours were very helpful and friendly. WiFi and phone reception was excellent and streaming channels were available on the TV. There was a lovely welcome pack, and all cleaning products were provided. The beds and lovely bedding ensured a god night's sleep. In fact we can't praise Mona's Cottage highly enough and we are are already planning our next year's visit. We can't wait!

Great property with home comforts
Really well equipped cottage. Great equipment- sharp knifes, decent pans, fully equipped kitchen - even had clingfilm, foil and bin liners. All cleaning products. Comfy beds and sofas. Lovely big garden. Welcomed by the owner.
Only gave 4 stars as a star deducted for the bathroom being downstairs - it felt a long walk in the middle of the night, although a night light was helpfully provided in the living room. And the shower was not very powerful. Kitchen is well equipped and there is only one small cupboard for storing food. Don’t do what we did and arrange a big online shop! Asda and m& s food are very close so it’s easy to pick up shopping.

Thanks for taking the time to give your review. I always welcome feedback from guests, especially where I can improve things. Unfortunately I can't move the Bathroom, all the cottages in the row are the same and couldn't get planning permission for an extension due to conservation concerns, but I will check out the shower. Yes. I do agree with you about the cupboards, I filled them without thinking about where guests would put their food. Extra cupboard required!
So thank you for giving Mona's a good review and for bringing things to my attention.
This cottage is quite near to Berwick-upon-Tweed and close to the stunning coast. Parking OK. Confusion on check in time, due to Vrbo I believe so we arrived when the owner was still cleaning. It was very clean and reasonably well equipped. We found the fridge to be rather small, even though there was only two of us. Storage in the kitchen was limited. The lounge was comfortable and the tv had Freeview and Netflix. Found the sound on it was poor though. Bedrooms were bright and pleasant with good bedding. The bathroom was small and being on the ground floor did cause us an issue, being elderly and needing to get up in the night!! Garden was nice although a parasol is useless if you don't have a base!! Just falls over!! Overall it was an enjoyable stay.

Thank you for taking the time to review Mona’s.
I am always happy to accept feedback, however I was somewhat surprised at your comments:
1. The fridge is described in the advert as being an integrated larder fridge with a freezer compartment, therefore is will be compact, under the bench. There is also a photo of the Kitchen.
2. I took the TV back to Curry’s and they assured me there is nothing wrong with the volume.
3. The photo of the Bathroom shows it is not large, and it does not say in the Vrbo advert that it is upstairs.
4. Parasol. I did not realise the base was not there, a quick text or call, and I would have dropped it off quickly. I apologise for it being absent.
5. Vrbo have no record of any email sent stating 3.00pm arrival. I always try to accommodate guests who wish to arrive earlier and you were in by 3.15pm. I was only there repairing the hoover.
I always tell guests verbally and in writing, if there are any problems and queries just give me a call or text, I try to deal with any issues quickly. I am happy to give any assistance and I try to ensure guests have an enjoyable stay.
Judging from the questions you asked prior to your arrival and when you arrived, you do not appear to read through the cottage details, perhaps if you had, you would have determined that maybe Mona’s was not for you.
I am pleased you enjoyed your stay despite the issues you have mentioned.
We loved our stay at Mona's Cottage. The owner is very helpful and amenable and the cottage is well-equipped, very comfortable and handily located just off the A1. There is a lovely garden with outdoor furniture and a BBQ, although we didn't use these, but a summer let here would be great to take advantage of the garden. Here is also wi-fi and Netflix. We didn't see that the bathroom was downstairs before booking, which could have been our fault. This wasn't a problem and it is very nice but the electric shower has low water pressure. Good access to the sights of Northumberland and there is an Asda and M&S Foodhall not far away. Marshall's cafe is within walking distance (next to Go Outdoors) where you can get a very good breakfast until 2pm!
The cottage is also right by the coast route bus stop if you don't want to drive around the area.
The only downside is there are no amenities in the village. Having said that, we would most certainly stay again.
We had such a lovely stay at Mona's Cottage! Everything we could need was there and the cottage was spotless. Can recommend for anyone wanting to explore Northumberland!
Lovely property - perfect for one or 2 couples or small family
Good location to explore the region. Easy enough to walk to the beach or into Berwick. Short drive to Holy Island, Bamburgh and other places to visit.

About the host
Hosted by Jacqui McCoy
Originally from a little bit down the coast in Warkworth, I've lived on the Northumbrian Coast all my life. I came up to Berwick on a lovely summer evening and thought it would be a nice place to live. The Cottage came up for sale and I fell in love with it, a bit dilapidated but my partner is a builder and has done a wonderful job restoring it. We loved it so much we bought the house next door as well, which is also a holiday cottage. Lizzies Cottage.
Why they chose this property
Mona's Cottage is a traditional Stone Cottage with its many features preserved, a lovely sunny aspect. In a rural location yet not that far from the main A1, the lovely clean beaches at Cocklawburn and all the amenities Berwick has to offer. The area around Berwick upon Tweed is packed full of history, picturesque places to visit and beautiful sandy beaches stretching for miles. An ideal base for exploring Northumbria and the Scottish Borders, Edinburgh is only an hour away by car and 40 minutes by train (a wonderful train journey up the coast), there is also a bus stop 50 yards away if you don't wish to drive, taking you into Berwick or further down the coast. On a double deck bus the views are magnificent. There are many country and coastal walks and cycle tracks, it is ideal for families or a romantic trip away. The garden gets the sun most of the day and is a wonderful sun trap to relax in and dine alfresco.
What makes this property unique
Mona's is cool in summer and warm in winter, we face south so you get the sun most of the day, the garden is quiet, private and surrounded by trees and shrubs. Decorated in throughout in warm whites to give guests a light filled calm interior to give a relaxing atmosphere.
