The location right on the water, with a dock, and spacious yard, was wonderful and very relaxing! The place has everything the family needs for a special getaway!
Clean place, quiet area, rooms are good size. Dock was a bit wobbly but that'd be my only complaint. Overall great stay

So sorry about the dock - we determined from having our dock guy check it out that a leg had broken. To bad you didn't mention your complaint to us during your stay we could have had it fixed for you!
The lakefront is beautiful and the house was very clean, but it unfortunately there was an odor that would not go away. I'd love to give more stars as Lynn was great, it's close to the Institution, and there were a lot of additional ammenities.

Laura was positive that the “odor” was cigarette that had been covered up with another scent! My housekeeping reported that the previous renters had a fake wax log starter that was smoldering when they arrived to clean, they dealt with it but the smell was in the house due to windows open. They cleaned and opened windows on opposite side of house to try and air out the house and used air freshener. They felt that by that afternoon when Laura was arriving it would be fine. Laura spent 3 nights with us and the renters immediately following her stay did not mention any smell in the house and housekeeping reported that there was no smell when they cleaned after Laura’s stay. We are a non smoking property and expect our renters to abide by that and all the other rules. I have no real way of knowing unless there is evidence left behind if the previous renters smoked or not - there was no evidence of this. I know that some people including myself are very sensitive to smoke of any kind especially cigarette, that is why we hope all our renters will respect and abide by all the house rules. They are in place for safety and/or respect of others!

Needs a renovation before I would return.
The property is on a beautiful lot location, However: the cottage is in desperate need of a renovation.
My friends and I had a phenomenal time at this property. The lawn, fire pit and Adirondack chairs made for three perfect summer nights, and the proximity of the house to the marina and Southern Tier brewing made for perfect summer days. The house was nicely stocked with necessities and had great character. We want to make this a yearly trip!
Quiet and accessible space, beautiful view of the lake. Very easy to get around the property, the breezeway was a terrific bonus space. Owners were delightful to work with and super accommodating.
Enjoyed our few days at this property, nice location on water and house fit our needs.

Gorgeous view but house needs major attention
While the property and view were amazing, the house is less than desirable. House smelled musty throughout our entire stay. Mold on the refrigerator and had a leak on the inside. Stains all over the floor along with mildew around the edges. Bathroom, not cleaned, rust in the tub and a major build up of soap scum and mildew. The toilet didn't flush properly. We had bags of garbage but no outdoor trash to put them anywhere and woke up to bag being torn apart by animals. We had to wash the wall behind the one bed before we could sleep as it was dirty and had hair stuck to it. Charcoal grill doesn't have anything to clean it the pit out with. Again great property and location, house not so much.

Sorry to hear this. I wish you would have voiced your issues during your stay by calling, texting or through the VRBO messaging - I could have helped with your concerns. I am very available and it's unfortunate you didn't let me know you were dissatisfied and having issues. I have back to back renters for the summer seasons and no one else has had trouble finding the garbage cans which the welcome letter references - they are in the red roofed garbage "garage" shed -that would have been an easy fix if you would have just asked. Grill shovel should have been in the cabinet below grill - might have been broken/misplaced by another renter. I will need to replace it if it truly is gone. Your concern with how well the property was or wasn't cleaned really needed to be discussed at the time you determined the issues. I have a housekeeping crew that should have gone right back to correct the items your'e describing. We, you and I, pay them to detail the property between renters and it sounds like there was a lack in their service - I will be taking that up with them! As for the moisture in the house causing the musty smell, it rained 2 weeks solid prior to your arrival, the lake rose 2+ feet in just a few days the weekend before you arrived on Monday. I'm just saying, it was very wet outside and the yard was very soggy, the cottage is a slab floor so it eventually wicks up the moisture - we've been told that the staining on the linoleum floor is the ink stamped on the back side bleeding up due to this moisture in the slab occasionally. This is why we have a dehumidifier and discuss using it in the welcome letter. It would have made the house dry and not musty! As for the toilet - only once before did someone call about the toilet and we were going to send the plumber out but then determined they were holding down the flush handle, most people don't have an issue, but it doesn't work well if you hold the flush handle down - it's a quick push down and let go - again, if you were having problems you should have reached out to me! I wish I could have helped you but I had no idea you were having problems during your stay - for future reference, speak up things could have gone better!
Great vacation spot on lake , the fire pit is perfect! House worked great for our group !
The only thing I would say is to warn renters about the lake flys, they were everywhere hard to keep from getting inside , we would of brought some yard guard or similar if we had known, but we assumed they are a problem fro all this time of the year ! Still a great rental !
Wonderful weekend on the lake. We stayed with family including 3 adults and 3 children aged 5, 8, 10. The house seemed a bit on the olderside but maintained. Enough room for the 6 of us. Great dock for jetski and fishing and shallow water for kids to go swimming. Fire pit next to the lake was wonderful and yard/lakefront is large. Trees on both sides provided privacy from neighboring homes. Nice covered breezeway provided additional great storage for outdoor items and has extra drink fridge. Owner communication/response was fast and informational. We would definitely stay here again.
The setup of the cottage and property, and the whole vibe of the place, offered just what we were looking for: a good time away with family and friends.
This was our third year staying at this property. We always enjoy our visit. The yard is open and big for lawn games and big enough to set up a tent or two for the kids. The lake access is great, a little shallow but that works out well for us with little kids. We were able to jet ski in and out with no issues due to water depth. The house is set up great, we especially love the breeze way to hang out and play games and even use it on a rainy night. We would highly recommend this property.
Good location. Accommodations are dated. Dishwasher lower drawer wheels fall off. Bathroom needs updating. No drain cover in bathtub/shower. Road before driveway had constant unavoidable mud puddles even though it was dry and hot; would be easy to fix if filled in with some gravel. Linoleum kitchen floor had pink stains/paint. Charcoal grill was not cleaned out of previous old. charcoal. Firepit, yard, deck and dock are great.

I’m glad you agree that our lake front is great! Thank you for the heads up on the dishwasher wheels - we’ve had the handyman address them. The drain cover is in the cabinet by the tub. I will be adding to my renters do’s and don’ts to clean out used charcoal if they use the BBQ - I didn’t realize they needed to be told! The road leading up to my driveway is not owned by us, although I do put gravel in a lot of the pot holes every year at the beginning of the season but if people drive fast It compacts it too much and produces new ones! We have plans to replace flooring and redo the bathroom so we agree on that too!
Thanks so much for your input.
Our group of 6 rented this home for a long weekend on CHQ Lake and it couldn’t have been more perfect. We loved the large yard, dock access, patio area, grill and felt very much at home. It was a little hot at first but we had some rain and so that helped cool the house down. Overall we absolutely recommend this cottage for a wonderful time on the lake.
This is our second year staying at this lake cottage. Once again it didn’t disappoint! We had the best week spending time as a family and visiting with friends. The house is absolutely perfect for all day entertainment. The little kids enjoyed playing in the shallow water, fishing, swimming, playing tag, sleeping in a tent and being kids! The yard has ample space for yard games, lounging in the sun and a fire pit. The house is set up perfectly to cook meals, relax inside and sleeping arrangements are very comfortable. The breeze way is perfect for a rainy day or to just get out of the sun for a bit. My kids loved watching VHS movies on an “old” tv, we must have watched Toy Story 100 times this week. The property owner is very easy to get a hold of and is very helpful in all situations. We recommend this cottage for your next family vacation! We hope to make this a yearly trip for our family.
We had a wonderful stay this weekend. The location and property were just perfect. They have beautiful lake frontage and it feels very private. We enjoyed swimming and fishing and the cottage had everything we needed. We hope to return.

We had a pleasant stay! The cottage was fully equipped.
We didn’t spend a lot of time at the cottage. It is a bit out dated but a perfect place for a family. Nice big yard on the lake side. We had wonderful weather and were able to take advantage of the patio facing the lake.

This house was perfect!
We had a fantastic weekend with our family. The cottage sits on a beautiful point of the lake, the view is spectacular! The yard space was awesome for yard games, a fire and even a tent! We just left and are already looking forward to next years trip!
