Frangipani, 4 Gloucester Street - Waterfront House on Dutchies Beach

Frangipani is in one of the prime locations of the Bay, nestled amongst trees and wildlife and only metres from popular Dutchmans Beach. This is a place to relax and unwind. With direct access to Dutchmans Beach, known to the locals as 'Dutchies', you can explore the calm bay beach boasting beautiful white sands as well as shady grassed areas with BBQ and picnic tables and a lovely children's play area. Just a 20-minute walk or cycle along the picturesque coastal pathway, or a 1km drive takes you past Bagnalls Beach reserve and into Nelson Bay CBD with its selection of boutique shops, restaurants, cafes, bars and the Marina. The waterfront offers a multitude of activities including boat and jet ski hire, dolphin and whale watch cruises, diving, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and fishing charters.

Located on the lower hillside above Dutchman's Beach, this quaint, waterfront holiday house offers an open plan living area with floorboards, split system air-conditioning, 2 cosy lounges, WI FI a flat screen TV, DVD player, CD player and a 6-seater timber dining table, and the kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, oven, 2-burner stovetop, microwave and full size fridge/freezer. Both the kitchen and dining areas offer sliding glass door access to the large covered balcony with an outdoor table and seating where you can relax, unwind and absorb in the amazing 180-degree blue vistas across Port Stephens. A second alfresco entertaining area at the rear of the property offers a 3-burner gas BBQ and outdoor setting.

The main bedroom also has access to the covered balcony and offers a queen bed, mirrored built-in robe and beautiful water views to wake up to each morning. The second bedroom has a tri-bunk bed (double on bottom and single on top), wardrobe and a flat screen TV that is ideal for kids game consoles. The bathroom and laundry offers a shower over the bath and a toilet, as well as a washing machine and dryer.

Off-street parking is available for one vehicle.

- There are 34 stairs with a hand rail down to the property, so the property is not suitable for a guest that is elderly or disabled.

Wonderful Holiday

Great location, amazing beach, wildlife daily, clean property. We had a fabulous time relaxing at the beach each day, breakfast on the balcony feeding the rosellas and visits from the kookaburras. We have 3 young kids and had everything we needed. Would definitely stay here again.

Property location overlooking Duchies is great, a steep block ,steep access via steps. Parking unsatisfactory. Beds not made at this price a bit rich, offering early checkin and late checkout at a price is a bit rich. Dont offer if you charge. This is our firdt experience of this money grab in all our travels.

Reviewer Comments: I have travelled extensively and in those travels if my Accomodation had the ability for us to access our accomodation early for what ever reason. And it was available were given access Not Charged, On international travel when either of the above was requested and it was fro a period greater than 6 hours we have been happy to pay. At Nelson Bay this is not appropriate, If you offer don't charge.

Reviewer Comments: Arrived in the dark and rain to be confronted any 35 wet unlit stairs, no outside lighting that worked, positively dangerous. Inside hole in ceiling, filter of dryer on top of dryer full of lint, mould on the bed room wall, several inside lights that didn't work, fly screens that didn't;t close, pictures on floor not on wall, no plug for sink, and plates that didn't fit in the dishwasher..with friendly reminders to make sure you washed everything up properly!!!Generally not up to standard for the price, which is shame given the location was great. Also in this day and age to not have wifi is surprising at best.

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Good location near beach and great ocean views. You can walk from the backyard via a shortcut down to the beach within minutes. Unfortunately the house is in need of some serious upkeep and repair. The fans and walls had what looked like about 6 mths worth of dust build up, the bath was dirty when we arrived ie had a dirt ring around it. A general clean had been carried out but not detailed enough for a holiday rental or to be covid safe. The bunk bed wobbled from side to side, a gate at the side was falling over. Grass hadn’t been mowed and bedroom light didn’t work. There were also mould spores starting to show on the walls in the bedrooms, on the blinds. We let the agent know and they sent someone to clean the property again (but didn’t confirm it’d definitely happen or tell us when, so we got a bit of a surprise when cleaners showed up to the house without any warning!) - unfortunately everything couldn’t be fixed for our stay as there were too many major issues. For the rather hefty price we paid over the school holidays for our family to stay, we expected a great deal better.

Reviewer Comments: A terrific family getaway location. 1 minute walk down to Dutchies Beach, 5 minute drive to Salamander shops and a 20 minute stroll to Nelson’s Bay. Accommodation was comfortable with amenities as described however property was a little more tired than the pictures depicted and could do with a little more ongoing thorough cleaning. Yards were unusable due to unkempt nature ( thigh high weeds) however there may have been some rapid growth between landscaping maintenance periods. Over all, a great place to stay for a low key family holiday with a terrific range of puzzles to choose from!

Make your own beds, buy your own loo paper and vacuum the sand up

Firstly, this property is a cute old beach shack located on a beautiful beach. It was a comfortable stay, however seemed a bit neglected in simple property management. Firstly, there was a laundry bag of sheets for the beds meaning that you had to make your own beds (from experience that is unusual and the cleaner should make the beds). There were sandy patches on the floors that we had to vacuum up. For a three night stay in a two bedroom accomodation there was only one roll of toilet paper so we had to buy our own! The tv remote batteries were flat. The lawns were overgrown but they got mowed on the second day of our stay. The dishwasher was really stinky! For the above reasons I think that perhaps the property hadn’t been stayed in for a while or they need to find a new cleaner/maintenance person. We had a nice stay, however with a bit more attention to detail it would have gotten a 5 star review! It just felt a bit neglected.

Great balcony with beautiful views!

We really enjoyed our stay at Frangipani with our two young children . The proximity to the beach is great and the view from the balcony is beautiful. Loved that there were no stairs off the balcony so our 2yo could roam. The new couches in the lounge room are comfy and the house was in a quiet location. Dutchies beach is very sheltered and perfect for young kids. The 10min walk following the path along the waters edge to Nelson Bay shops is very pleasant. The house could have been cleaner and the dishwasher didnt work very well but hopefully these issues can be addressed by the property manager. All in all a great little house for a relaxing getaway.
