Water Tower in the Redwoods - Just Five Minutes To Historic Mendocino Village
Escape to this private, peaceful, 550 square feet water tower suite nestled amongst the redwoods. This is the perfect place for a romantic get-away or some downtime. Sleep under the overhead and inspired sunflower, lit by the rays of the morning sun. Best of all, you'll be surrounded by plenty of tall trees and ocean breezes, with a location 2.75 miles east of the village of Mendocino.
The private (exclusive) bathroom has a roomy shower, beautiful stone counters, custom cabinets built by a local fine woodworker, and radiant floor heating. The bedroom has the feel of a tree house, with a new, comfy, king-sized, dreamy, bed, good reading lights, 55" LG OLED HDR TV, with Apple TV. Wake up to the sound of birds in the trees and sunlight filtering through the redwoods.
On chilly mornings, warm up with a cup of coffee before heading out for the day. There is a downstairs entry room with all that you need to make that perfect cup of morning coffee, or tea, plus a small fridge for wine or leftovers (but, sorry, no cooking). The outdoor deck is set in a lovely Asian-style garden, a perfect place to enjoy the outdoors.
The Water Tower makes for an ideal home base for exploring the fabulous Mendocino Coast. You will undoubtedly want to visit the historic, quaint, and quirky coastal village and enjoy the many art galleries, restaurants, and shops. Take a walk on the Mendocino Headlands State Park and the majestic coastal bluffs of the Pacific Ocean. When you are done, wander back into town for a hot chocolate, or glass of wine at the historic Mendocino Hotel.
The area is known for ocean kayaking, hiking, and phenomenal mountain biking opportunities such as the beautiful Big River trail. You're also close to Russian Gulch State Park and the Point Cabrillo Lighthouse recreational areas for further adventures.
At the end of a day of adventuring along the Mendocino Coast, relax and enjoy a glass of wine from one of the many wonderful local wineries.
Winter is a great time to visit the Mendocino area and experience the winter storms and watch the whales migrate from Alaska to Mexico to give birth to their babies.
Guest space is in a converted water tower, and is separate from (but attached to) the historic lumber bunkhouse which has been converted into owner's current residence. Many acres of fir and redwood forest are just outside the doors.
This space is not appropriate for children, or people who smoke, or pets, or guests who need to heat/cook food. VRBO requires that we ask you to ‘clean up as you go’ ( Thanks!).
A personal vehicle is totally necessary in this area. No public transportation worthy of the name!

The stay was very peaceful and relaxing. A 5 minute drive to the village. Although the stairs were not an issue for us it may be for others. I would recommend this place to my friends and family
You wil not find a more thoughtfullly mananged and clean place to stay! The hosts are friendly, helpful, and have thought of everything! Very cool spot to stay and great location; would definitely stay here again!
Beautiful, secluded place, town about 2 miles away. Host has lots of local info available. Hot tub had a small glitch but was readily resolved. Host has thought of many small details to make stay comfortable. Would definitely go back again.
Mendocino is my ‘happy place’& I wanted to celebrate ringing in the new year there! The novelty of staying in a water tower interested me & I was in luck booking this place. It was minutes from downtown Mendocino & yet secluded in location farther up the road. The views of the trees were so calming.
Exactly as described in the listing. Beautiful, quiet location in the redwoods, but near the town center. Congenial hosts who have designed and communicated helpful arrangements.Upstairs bedroom with downstairs bathroom and hot tub is unusual, but it works!
The property was very very clean. The bed very comfotable. We forgot our pillows and the pillows provided were excellent. Normally I can't sleep without my pillow, I slept with no problems ! Very quite and relaxing trip. The trail to the woods on the property was beautiful with lots of ferns and redwoods. The hosts were excellent also. We will definitly stay here again.

Everything about this vrbo was excellent. The owner greeted us upon arrival to acquaint us with the place; amazing details making every need met. Loved having two levels and beautiful outside sitting area. It went way beyond meeting expectations!
Beautiful and unique accommodations! The sleeping area is very comfortable and feels like you are in a treehouse, The Zen garden at the bottom of the stairs was a perfect place to have a glass of wine and recap after a day of exploring , then onto the indoor jacuzzi to take a soak before melting into the king sized bed. Our hosts were attentive without being intrusive . We will be recommending this unique VRBO to family and friends. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Brent & Lisa from Oregon
It was a very, very nice place to stay. It was as accurate as the pictures. The Innis were very sweet, very nice people greeted us in and said goodbye when we left. Thank you. The redwoods were at arms reach in there yard. We even had the Deer family visit us too. David & Loretta
Overall…fantastic. Terrific hosts, lovely setting, so very refreshing. Close to all the great restaurants and coastal hiking. And the weather just happened to be perfect. We will def be repeat guests. J&J

Joe was a lovely guests. Clean, respectful all of the good things you look for in a guest. We would be happy to host him again.
From the moment we arrived there was attentiveness and space that accompanied beauty And value!
We arrived to our beautifully appointed duplex situated in a stand of regal redwoods along with the trickle oof a garden with water feature. The bed the hot tub the coffee fridge and slippers and robes were some of the many thoughtful amenities that surprised and delighted! The most amazing value and a memory never forgotten!
Hosts are friendly and very helpful. Their place is clean, quiet and we loved the treehouse feel of the bedroom. The location is perfect for short drives to all of the local attractions. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.
A beautiful mix of luxury (indoor hot tub, huge bathroom, very comfortable bed, everything well-kept) and the outdoors (surrounding trees, no noise, deer in the yard). The friendly host gave a quick tour and food recs at check-in. I'd definitely stay here again next time I'm in Mendocino!
Despite the rain and we only spent one night, we had a wonderful stay and hope to come back and spend two days or more in the future. Of course, when it’s not raining!!!

Why they chose this property
Wonderful locals. Quirky and historic community.
What makes this property unique
Located adjacent to the 89,000 acre Jackson State Forest, and surrounded by Nature. Very quiet, with 30 sunny days more than the folks in the nearby village of Mendocino. The village is just a 5 minute drive away.
