Luxurious Georgian cottage in the hidden gem of Sibford Gower
A spacious, comfortable and tranquil hidden gem, Hillcrest Cottage is an ideal location from which to explore Cotswold towns, historical attractions like Blenheim Palace and Bletchley Park or as a base for walking the many local paths, including the D'arcy Dalton Way. The Cottage was sympathetically renovated in 2015 to retain its all its original features and charm, but to make it a luxurious escape from the bustle of life. Spacious bedrooms with Egyptian cotton bedding, ensuite bathrooms, bespoke kitchen with AGA, and two inglenook fireplaces. The private, walled garden is a perfect sun trap for balmy summers evenings and the log burning fireplaces provide the perfect retreat for crisp winter nights in the countryside.

The cottage was beautifully decorated, it was fully equipped.
There was a very pretty enclosed garden and it was a very peaceful location.
The hosts were very helpful and welcoming.
I would recommend this to any couples or families wanting a very comfortable stay in a great location.
Cottage was in great condition and was much than we expected. Kitchen can get abit hot from the Aga Stove was the only negative. Great local pub nearby with excellent food. Great hosts.
A wonderful stay at Hillcrest Cottage. Every last detail has been thought of from plenty of firewood, marmalade & fresh bread on our arrival . The cottage is just lovely, cosy warm and so clean. The beds are soft and we could not have asked for anything else over the weekend. Gorgeous hosts ready to help at any stage. Would love to stay again
Very nice cottage with high quality kitchen and bathrooms. Very comfortable bed and sofas. Everything you need for a relaxing break including a wood burning stove and a fully equipped kitchen including an Aga. Hosts kindly provided bread, eggs, milk, butter, biscuits and marmalade. It was nice to meet Richard who recommended the local pub which was very nice. Very enjoyable two nights.

Beautiful Cottage, amazingly high standard
The pictures do not do this cottage justice. It is beautifully decorated, both bedrooms are very spacious and the kitchen is fitted to a very high standard with an AGA and Neff oven. The owners were lovely from the moment we booked. They recommended a riding school and booked the Wykenham Arms for us on the Saturday night which was perfect. Thank you Richard and Sara for making us feel very welcome
Sara and Richard's cottage is really beautiful, you feel you could live here. It is located about 7 miles outside of Banbury in the beautiful countryside. The cottage is on 2 levels and has been decorated with quality and taste. A lovely welcome pack of eggs, homemade marmalade, bread and butter was available upon arrival. Parking is easy with a spot directly in front of the cottage. The cottage has been renovated and is beautifully maintained and sparkling clean. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.
It's difficult to add anything to the long list of five-star reviews already posted. This cottage has been tastefully restored with obvious attention to detail. It is comfortable, clean, and relaxing. If you want to immerse yourself in a small, rural, English village - the population of the parish is just over 500 - you couldn't make a better choice. At the same time, it is located within easy driving distance to places like Chipping Norton, Oxford, and Stratford-upon-Avon. The host is gracious, accessable, and welcoming. We can't recommend this place highly enough.
Cotswold solitude in a secluded garden with Gin & Tonic
Beautifully decorated, clean cottage. Everything you need to relax & chill out in their secluded garden. We had breakfast outside every morning. Bed very comfortable. Beautiful picture postcard village at every turn. Lovely walks & cycle routes nearby. Would definitely stay again. Thank you Richard & Sara.
It is a very elegant cottage with fine taste, extremely comfortable. The village is very small with very good pub (nice food). All the settings are very idealistic to anyone seeking relaxation and some rest and walk only.
We had a fabulous stay at the property. The cottage is beautiful! It is both traditional with 2 real fires and modern with a gorgeous new kitchen complete with aga and newly renovated bathrooms with great showers. The village is really cute and has a great pub. Lots of lovely walks on your doorstep. Highly recommend!
A beautiful cottage in a quintessential cotswold village, stunning attention to detail in the whole cottage, a beautiful walled garden.
Great communication with Sara and Richard, lovely welcome from Richard. Encountered the change of seasons...shorts to boots..
Thank you for a lovely time in your home after working throughout Covid for the both of us.
This was the perfect weekend retreat, beautiful cottage great and location for a relaxing weekend.
The hosts were really welcoming and the cottage was so lovely - very clean and cosy.
We'd highly recommend for a long weekend and hope to visit again soon!
It was very pleasant stay, property well done and equipped to prepare meals, comfortable sleeping. we both agreed , we would stay longer if it would be possible, unfortunately one of us was going for planned operation. We live with nice memories and we wish for happy return. This not critical note as I like everything about , but somebody who like more entertainment is not probably for him as is quite peaceful and remote.
Well located in a pretty village. Despite being in a terrace, it feels secluded. Lovely walled back garden. Great for cooking (and drying socks) if you like using an Aga. Owner very helpful.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful cottage. We felt so comfortable from the moment we arrived and everything has been finished to a high standard making it a peaceful 5* retreat.
Welcoming treats of bread, eggs, marmalade and fresh cakes were a lovely touch.
The garden is beautifully kept, with a gas and coal BBQ supplied along with sun loungers so you can really relax!
We enjoyed days out to Stow, Chipping Norton, British Motor Museum, Broughton Castle and Cotswolds farm park. Pub round the corner served great food and were also doing takeaway.
Richard made us feel very welcome, thank you for a wonderful stay. We are planning a return visit!
This delightful property was just what you need. Fantastic quiet location in the centre of the village, peaceful immaculate garden at the rear. There are so many beautiful Cotswold walks nearby we had trouble choosing what to do first. Not to mention a lovely pub down the road for a post walk reward. Planning a weekend away from London after lockdown, we want to walk in, sit down and immediately start to unwind, well that's exactly what we did. Every little detail is taken care of the garden is very sweet and extremely well maintained so we had a super BBQ on the first night as the sun set over the countryside. The dining and lounge areas are cosy, comfortable and stocked with firewood so as the weather turned slightly chilly on Saturday evening we were able to light quick fire to enhance the ambiance too. The cottage kitchen is well stocked and designed elegantly. All in all our expectations were exceeded and we cannot wait to return. Many thanks, Sarah and Richard!
We stayed here in this lovely cottage for 3 nights. We were travelling with friends to visit Cotswolds and celebrate my partner’s birthday. The cottage was absolutely perfect for us. We each had our bedroom and bath. We spent our evenings in the garden with a drinks and a BBQ. It was honestly exactly what we wanted and more. Richard was lovely and helpful when we arrived.
I could not recommend this place more and I look forward to the next time we go back.
Beautiful accommodation in an amazing location with close proximity to London. Lovely host with great hospitality. Real pleasant and blissful experience. Photos don’t do justice.
When we moved back to the UK from the United States in 2006, our requirements from a village were simple- or so we thought! Good walks, excellent running terrain, a village pub, a community atmosphere and unspoilt properties with traditionally English character. Sibford has given us all this and more, it is an unspoilt village where no two days are the same; don't be surprised to see the hunt clip-clopping through the village, an escaped chicken wandering down the road, or the Red Arrows Aerobatic Display team flying overhead. We love it so much that we decided to buy Hillcrest Cottage (across the road from our main house) as a renovation project in late 2013. We hope we will be able to convey to you our love of the cottage, Sibford and the surrounding area when you come to visit us.
Why they chose this property
We lived across the road from the Cottage for 11 years, and imagined being able to buy it and give it the love and care it so sorely needed. When the opportunity presented itself, our next move was clear- to begin a labour of love which would take more than a year to complete. As you will see, we poured love and imagination into the project, revealing the unique and classic property you see today.
What makes this property unique
Most Cotswold cottages are small, cold and dark with low ceilings and a certain inflexibility. Hillcrest could not be more different. The light, airy, timeless interior paves your way to the private walled garden, an oasis of calming lavender- making it the ideal location for a summer's BBQ or to enjoy a gin and tonic while reclining on the steamer chairs after a long day of sight seeing.
