Thank you so much Camille, we are glad you all have a peaceful time to rest and enjoy the promise land. Taking good care of the house and your suggestion about the window, since the renters are the adults we assume parents make sure to take the necessary preventions, Yesterday I cover it with a temporary design for the stain glass. Hope you visit again. Best wishes

Thank you so much. Hope you all visit againg. Thank you for taking a good care of the home. Blessings
We enjoyed our first visit to the Kilmarnock area.
Prior to our visit Alvaro and Denise were very responsive and provided a lot of helpful information about the area. We had a wonderful, comfortable stay in the home. Our hosts provided some baked goods from a local market as a welcome, which was a nice touch. We visited Alvaro's art studio upon his invitation and he provided a tour and insight into his work.
The setting of the home is a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The area has so much to see and do! We are looking forward to returning again.

After planning activities for my stay and then injuring my foot a couple days earlier, it could not have been any better for my kids and myself. Never mind the house colombian coffee and the art gallery. We all enjoy it.

Really nice, quiet and secluded. The beach, located in a nature preserve, was only a 5 minute drive away. It was also secluded. Biking would have taken 15-20 minutes and I wish we had brought ours . Next time! Our hosts were extremely kind and helpful. Just wonderful! Highly recommended.

It was a very charming/unique house!
My family and I had a wedding to attend in Heathsville. This house was centrally located to the wedding and to the water. Very close to a lovely beach area, we enjoyed the outside space very much. The house was very charming and open. It suited our family perfectly! The owners were most gracious and very attentive! We had a wonderful weekend!!!!!

A unique, wonderful getaway
While it's a few miles to the closest public beach, the bright colors and open spaces give this property the feel of a beach house. We loved having the choice of eating and relaxing outside or inside, on comfy couches or at a big table. The kitchen was well-furnished. While the location itself is secluded and wonderfully peaceful, we were able to ride our bikes to the towns of Kilmarnock and Irvington one day and to Burgess and Vir-Mar Beach (32 mile round trip) the next. (There are few bike lanes, so we'd recommend staying on side roads as much as possible.) The owners are close enough go over and chat with, but not too close. The only downside is that this region has its share of mosquitoes in the summer, so we had to be vigilant about shutting screens and doors (which did a good job of keeping them out), and the insects did keep us from enjoying the outside decks at night. That is probably not an issue for most of the year, and comes with being so close to nature. All in all, we considered this house a great find and would recommend it wholeheartedly.

About the host
Hosted by alvaro Ibañez & wife Denise DeVries
Like most immigrants, after many circumstances I was experiencing in my birth country, I chose to start a new life in a new land. That country was the United States. Art is my life. “I live for art not from art.” Since my arrival, I have dedicated all my potential to sponsoring art and artists in all the creative fields. I promote, encourage, and mentor all of them that never were touched by art, or don’t believe in themselves, or are afraid to show because they are afraid of comments. I open shows and spaces to display their work regardless of their experience and background, as long as they have the idea and or need to explore creativity. Many became very well known creative people, some found their lives changed, with a lot more to live for, because whoever is involved in art lives a great life. If you have a disastrous place, as soon as you move art in, it becomes enchanted and shines. It is the same with life.
Why they chose this property
I founded Alvaro Ibañez Museum (AIM), where everyone in the world can visit my personal collection. An international creativity community bringing together painters, poets, dancers, sculptors, photographers, actors, all kind of writers, and their audiences and friends for rest and renewal. We do workshops and seminars as well as displaying and promoting other artists.
