About this property

Large Lake House with Private Beach, Dock, Canoe & Kayak

Loon Lodge was purchased in the spring of 2016 and renovated to be family friendly, open, and comfortable! We hope you enjoy sharing our Maine getaway! You can see some of the renovation and lake photos on Instagram @LoonLodgeMaine

House: There are 3 bedrooms on the upper floor (master with queen bed, guest room with full bed, and guest bedroom with two twin beds), 3 bathrooms, and a bonus room downstairs with a pullout couch for extra sleeping. Bedrooms also have plenty of room for a pack and play (available), air mattress, etc. Living & dining room have huge windows that overlook the lake as well as a new rustic dining table and huge sectional couch. There is a full kitchen with an eat-in breakfast area and desk. The house has a small deck, 3-season porch, fire pit, and a charcoal grill.. Also, if you're coming with little ones, there is plenty of baby/toddler gear available if needed (bed rails, high chair, toddler dining chair, pack and play, books, games, kids plates/cups/bowls/etc).

Lakefront and Lake Description: Stairs lead from the house down the hill to a private beach area with 4 sections of dock, canoe, paddle boat and kayak available for use (included). Norcross Pond is one mile long with camps and homes along one side only – keeping the lake quiet. Water is clear and the lake has a sandy bottom for great swimming. Speed boats, pontoon boats, and jet skis are allowed, but since the lake is small you don't gets boats out all day. A boat ramp is available if you want to bring your own boat (note, the boat ramp is dirt and steep). The lake is full of bass, perch, and stocked with trout, so bring your fishing rods. There are also nearby places for blueberry picking, hiking, movies, ice cream, restaurants, etc. Fall is wonderful for walking around the lake, hiking at nearby mountains, kayaking, canoeing, and viewing foliage. Winter is perfect for ice fishing (stocked with trout), snowmobiling (trails are next to the lake to get you throughout the Maine trail system), ice skating, and skiing at an array of ski areas within an hour.

Local Things to Do: blueberry/strawberry/apple picking, movie theater, ice cream, lobsters, restaurants, markets, festivals, antique shops, biking, beer garden, and more.

Nearby Excursions: Farmington, Belgrade Lakes, Mount Blue, multiple ski mountains, Sandy River Railroad, DEW Animal Farm, Norlands Living History Center, Golf (Turner Highlands, Sandy River, Wilson Lake, and others), U Maine Farmington events, and more. Lots of excursions (hiking, skiing, ocean, and more) within 1-2 hours.

Why they chose this property

We purchased this house in the spring of 2016 for our family to enjoy. We live in NH have two little kids who love the lake, boating, ice fishing, etc. We also will use it as our home base for ski days at Sugarloaf, Saddleback, Sunday River, and Mt. Abram. Laurie grew up in Maine and spent summers on this lake (right next door to this house) her entire life. Her parents now live on the lake year round and her grandparents and uncle are here all summer as well. When this house became available, we couldn't pass up the chance to have our own piece of Maine life. Laurie's family has been summering here since her grandfather bought some lake homes here after returning from WWII and the lake is full of families who live here year round or return year after year. We are so excited to share this wonderful lake with other families since we know we just can't use it all summer due to work, activities, travel, etc!

What makes this property unique

Norcross Pond is only one mile long, which makes it the ideal size for all activities. It's easy for families with kids to enjoy boating, kayaking, fishing, etc - and you can still see them no matter how far they go! Also, with the other side remaining wooded property, every house looks out over the lake with a view the trees along the other side. The lake is also a wonderful fishing spot, with bass, perch , and stocked trout as well. In the winter, you can ice fish, snowmobile to the maine trail system, ice skate, and snowshoe as well.
