Oak Tree Cottage is a surprising find.
Oak Tree Cottage is a surprising find. Situated in a hamlet off the beaten track, it is beautifully presented and has a very special large dog friendly garden. Good walks in woodland from the front door, a nearby beaver reserve complete with beaver dam and the River Wye nearby all make it a good start point for an active holiday.

Lovely cottage .
Lovely cottage . Very well equipped. A real shame that the weather was bad at the start of the week but it didn't spoil our holiday. Could do with a bucket or some container to put the ash from the very welcome log burner. Overall a wonderful stay

Beautiful cottage, lots of space both inside and outside.
Beautiful cottage, lots of space both inside and outside. Right on the edge of the forest, so you can walk out from the front door very easily. Easy to reach local places like Yats Rock, Symonds Yat, Goodrich Castle, etc. Very welcoming.

Real get away from it all.
Real get away from it all. Pool table and dart board meant some quality time with teenagers which didn't involve tech (apart from dart scoring app!). Walks straight from the door leading to amazing views. A real home from home feel and we will definitely be back - loved it!

Excellent! Very comfortable, clean, spacious, warm with a large secure garden for the dog.
Excellent! Very comfortable, clean, spacious, warm with a large secure garden for the dog. We really appreciated the flowers, biscuits, tea and coffee and the selection of board games. The forest is 50 metres away with good walks. The whole property looked bigger and better in real life than in the photos. Large well equipped kitchen. If you’re staying during winter the external games room does take a while to warm up but the cottage itself is toasty warm. Not a lot of amenities in the immediate area other than the forest but perfect for a restful, secluded getaway.

4 of us stayed for 3 nights which went by far too quickly.
4 of us stayed for 3 nights which went by far too quickly. We were met by Chris & Jo the owners who gave us a tour. The cottage is just amazing, spotlessly clean and better equipped than any other cottage we have stayed at. Warm and cosy and very comfortable beds. All 4 of us loved staying there and are already making plans to return as soon as we can. It is such good value and the bunk room for children is just perfect. Huge garden with a pond and a games room just adds to the attractiveness. A fantastic package
This is a comfortable and well furnished house on the edge of a stretch of forest. A large, fully enclosed garden was ideal for our little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the house as whole is nicely arranged to accommodate hounds as well as holidayers.
We were there in mid-February so didn't get much chance to make the best of the conservatory or outdoor dining area, but in the right weather they should be delightful!

We had a lovely stay at Oak Tree Cottage.
We had a lovely stay at Oak Tree Cottage. It is out the way with just a few other houses around but for a walking holiday in the Forest of Dean it couldn't be in a better position. The walks from the door were fantastic. Other activities, shops etc are just a short drive away. The house it's self is lovely and perfect for a family holiday. It was clean, tidy and has everything you need. The games room is fantastic and we made use of this everyday as a family. The garden is a great size which our dog loved. The hosts were so inviting and helpful on my arrival.I would highly reccomend Oak Tree Cottage and we will certainly look at returning here in the future for a relaxing family get away.

Delightful very well equipped cottage , beautiful very rural location and virtually in the Forest of Dean which is a stunning and magical area. Dog friendly property which was essential… The Owners were there to meet and show us around and explain various facilities and procedures regarding our stay. They were very welcoming and friendly, and it was great to meet them both personally. Would strongly recommend Oak Tree Cottage. I would only stres that it is an area with limited facilities for dining out locally,if that is an important factor…apart from nearby town for cafes and food shopping etc… Ideal for walking/relaxing/ dog walking type break. A fantastic cottage, very warm welcome by the owners kindly left the lights on for our late arrival. The cottage is well equipped, the kids loved the games room. The weather wasn’t kind to us for our stay, but that did not deter us having a relaxing October half term holiday. Lots to do in the surrounding areas and this cottage is the perfect base for forest walks, visit to symonds yat, Ross-On-Wye, Gloucester or a little further a field if you prefer. Highly recommend The Red Hart Inn at Blaisdon and the Rising Sun Inn at Moseley Green for meals (especially after a muddy walk!).

Oak Tree Cottage was simply brilliant.
Oak Tree Cottage was simply brilliant. The owners daughter met us at the property when we arrived, and explained everything to us.
The property was spotless and had everything you could possibly need, and the garden was just lovely. It is quite isolated from the big wide world, but with the current situation with Covid, this was a godsend, and just what we wanted
There are walks into the forest from outside the front door, which was just lovely and great for the dogs.
Please be aware there is no shop or pub really within walking distance. The closest shops are in Cinderford, which is about a 10 min drive away. You can walk from the cottage into Ruardean, but there is really not a lot there. There is a pub, but it was shut, and to be honest, it didnt look that inviting!
I can recommend ‘Frydays’ the fish and chip shop in Littledean (just the other side of Cinderford), best fish and chips we have had for a long time!
Would we return, yes absolutely!

This cottage is incredibly well equipped, it has absolutely everything you could ever need, it really is set up as a home from home. It housed 2 adults, 4 children and 2 dogs comfortably.
Dogs are truly welcomed - spare towels and bowls are available in case you forget anything for them, the beautiful garden is enclosed and secure and there are walks through the forest from the doorstep.
There are plenty of things to do in the area (even in a pandemic!) - walks, castles, canoe hire and bike hire as well as the nearby towns and cafe's.
The owners were super helpful and I would definitely book to visit again.

The cottage is an absolute delight and in a peaceful location.
The cottage is an absolute delight and in a peaceful location. Well equipped and comfortable, even the beds and sofa's which often isn't the case with holiday cottages. Being in a dark area on a clear night the stars are a sight to behold. Plenty of activities in the forest for everyone who enjoys the active life. All in all, very highly recommended.

Wow was the first and last think we thought about this house.
Wow was the first and last think we thought about this house. It was better than we thought and the pictures and description doesn’t do it enough justice.the added extra of a basket of towels for the dog was very helpful after lovely walks through the woods which was just outside the front door. I could talk on for a long time but can honestly say the house and garden was amazing, clean and tidy and everything you could want for a lovely holiday. Next visit already being planned.

Three generations of our family stayed in the cottage for a week.
Three generations of our family stayed in the cottage for a week. We found the description of the cottage on the website to be accurate, but it was not immediately obvious to me that this cottage is about 3/4 mile north of the village of Brierley in the small hamlet of "The Pludds", well away from the main road and very, very quiet. We really enjoyed that, and we also agree with all the enthusiastic comments made by your other reviewers. Would we like to go there again? Definitely.

We all had a great week. Very friendly welcome from the owners and settled in quickly. The garden was a great run around for our dog. Hours of fun was had in the games room. Easy access for forest walks and so quiet for a peaceful rest day and night.
