A peaceful cabin in the woods for your family to get away from the cares of the world. The reviews from all of our guests are outstanding, and you too will enjoy sitting on the deck and relaxing, or walking through the woods or exploring the shore and swimming in Maines famous chilly water!. It is all new with new furniture, beds, kitchen, bath, bedding and much more. The cabin has a bedroom and sleeping loft upstairs. The main floor has a well equipped open kitchen with dining area. The living room is spacious and comfortable with a lovely view of fields and trees, with a distant view of the water in the background. The bathroom is located on the first floor next to the stairs to the bedroom and sleeping loft. A large porch with chairs ensures a peaceful and quiet stay.
A path down the gravel drive takes you across the brook and down to a set of stairs and our own private beach. The view is beautiful and the water is refreshingly invigorating! The cabin is located a short walk from our cottage listed as #501514, in case you want to bring more friends or family.
A very comfortable and quiet getaway. Even your dog will be happy.

Absolutely loved this cabin and so did our dogs!! The cabin was perfect for a semi unplugged time and the property was gorgeous!! Will definitely be coming back! The hosts and their dog Daisy were very friendly and super helpful.
This is my fourth stay at this absolutely delightful cabin. I can’t imagine anywhere else I would rather visit on my annual trip to Maine than this beautiful, peaceful, and scenic property! The hosts are wonderful, the cabin is immaculate, and I look forward to my trip here every year! 10/10 would recommend for anyone who looks for a place to rest, rejuvenate, and enjoy the beauty that the coasts of Maine has to offer. I can’t wait for next year!!!
One of the quietest places I ever visited. We had a very relaxing one week stay. Loved launching the kayaks right from the beach. Our doodle was very happy here. The private beachfront is amazing.
A week full of sunshine, beautiful Maine around us, and we couldn’t have asked for a better location, the Homestead cabin is perfect and the hosts were the nicest ones we ever had!
We enjoyed every minute
This was our second trip to this lovely, very secluded cabin. The kitchen is well equipped to cook most anything and the living area and bedrooms provide lots of comfy spots to relax. The deck also has a table with 2 chairs and 2 adirondack chairs for outdoor comfort. David & Carolyn are wonderful hosts with a wealth of information about the area!
Perfect location for avid outdoors people or for anyone who loves nature and the peace and seclusion it offers. The close proximity to Acadia National Park is icing on the cake! David and Carolyn are gracious hosts and everything was perfect for our stay! Will definitely try to visit again!
It exceeded our expectations. Dave and Carolyn are wonderful hosts. We enjoyed the seclusion, short walk to the water, being close to Stonington and hiking areas.
We are overwhelmed by the quiet beauty here. Silent mornings, afternoon swims on the private beach. We cook all our meals in the well equipped cabin kitchen . There is baking equipment to make a blueberry pie.
Perfect week. Beautiful location with a very well designed, built, and maintained cabin. Hosts were wonderful (including Daisy the golden retriever). Did some day trips to hike at different preserves but some of the best hiking was exploring the land around the cabin--same mix of granite and mossy spruce forests but all to yourself! Will definitely come back.
Everytime we stay here the experience gets better. Beautiful weather all week. David and Carolyn are excellent hosts. They were very welcoming and the friendliest people you will ever meet. We intend to rent the cabin again.
The Homestead cabin is a true gem! We felt instantly relaxed and at home, nestled in the peaceful woods with stunning ocean views just a short walk away. The mossy trails were enchanting, and watching the two Daisys play on the beach was a highlight. Thank you, David and Carolyn, for creating such a welcoming and special place. Your hospitality was much appreciated!
We are repeat visitors to this incredible oasis. We are eager to make our way to this idyllic spot nestled among the pines and the rocky coast. You couldn't ask for 2 better hosts. They provide for every basic need and then some. We have already reserved our return trip for next year. You will NOT regret time spent here.
This is perfect for nature lovers looking for peace and quiet and a complete opposite to the over run mad house know as Maine tourism. If you love the quiet outdoors and fun freedom for your well behaved dog , this is the spot! The owners Golden Retriever, Daisy , is an absolute joy and kept our pups entertained. Owners are wonderful, hard working, very friendly and welcoming. You just can’t go wrong staying here !
For the most part, the weather was terrible, but the kayaker did get in several paddles in a spectacular area for paddling.
The cabin is perfect for our needs and was very comfortable. Our hosts were outstanding.
We are already booked fr the same tíme next year.
Cabin was beautiful and just the right size. We had everything we needed. Carolyn and David were super responsive to any questions. The inlet beach is so picturesque and peaceful and we saw seal pups each day which was a highlight for us. Acadia and Bar Harbor are 1 hr and 20 minutes away as an FYI but this is a great place to stay away from the crowds
The Homestead Cottage was just what we were looking for! Quaint and quiet in a forest setting with the ocean steps away. David and Carolyn were wonderful host with tips on things to see and do in the area along with answering questions about things we saw. Their dog Daisy was also very happy to see our Golden Girls. We look forward to returning next year!

The Homestead Cabin was a magical place in the woods. It is just as described down a long driveway and a short walk to the water. We were greeted by the sweetest dog who showed us the path to the beach. I am so glad we picked this cabin for our first trip to Maine. You won’t be disappointed.
Extremely wonderful place to relax. Amenities are very nice. If you want a secluded, peaceful, quiet place all to yourself with a short walk to rocky sea shore, then this is the place. The sunset was awesome from the shore. Be prepared for a mile long driveway deep into woods of Maine. We looked forward to returning to cabin after day of exploring Acadia.

About the host
Hosted by David Friedell
We are two retired music teachers that retired here many years ago so that we could live in the woods by the sea in a peaceful and beautiful place. Carolyn spends her days working in the garden and David pursues his lifelong interest in tinkering and playing the pipe organ. We came here as newlyweds and summered here for our whole married life. It was a great place to raise our two boys who spent their childhood in the woods, on the water or helping their parents build something or other. It is our pleasure to share this wonderful place with guests.
