The only complain we have specific for our unit was the master bedroom mattress was hard as a rock. The property management doesn’t deal with this, it is an owner purchase. We didn’t sleep much because of this. But overall it was an amazing stay like always

Close to beach access

Although the couch and chairs could be updated as they are showing lots of use, the five of us were comfortable in our beds and in the living area. The description needs to updated to match the pictures. It is a single bunk over a full. The proximity to the beach access was the best part for us although the beach is very crowded during peak season. The set up of the chairs and umbrellas on the beach is unfortunate bc there is very little space between. Also this private beach area only allows for umbrellas and no other type of cover. We will not be staying in this area of Destin again as it was very crowded.

Relaxing & Peaceful

Perfect spot to get away from the hustle and bustle. Property is well kept. Unit was as advertised except I was expecting the unit to have a washer and dryer and it didn’t. Coin operated machines were on a different floor. Overall, it was the perfect spot for a family weekend get away.

Another stay at the Islander

Unit 104 had everything we needed in general. The condition of 104 could use some maintenance. The king bed was truly only half usable. The right side of the bed was so worn and sloped toward the floor. Sleeping on that side could have resulted in falling out of bed. The kitchen seemed beat up a bit. The counter top had a chip in it, the refrigerator was dented and scratched. Still had a wonderful time though! We are so happy to see Alan is back at the beach! We do love Alan! We are already looking at booking another trip there and would just choose another unit!

It was clean and provided all we needed, but the bathrooms are both in need of an update. There were a couple other issues I shared with the front desk, but otherwie a great stay and nice weather. We plan to return in the spring and have booked unit 103.

We REALLY appreciate. Condo 104 was so well decorated and everything we needed was available. Towel supply fantastic. Mattress in both rooms could be updated and replaced. Twin beds headboards need to be adjusted to the bed frame as they moved a lot when getting on and off the bed. Location of 104 was great and easy to go to the beach.

Beautiful Beach Resort

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Islander is one of my favorite vacation locations. The walk to the beach is short, just over the boardwalk, and the pools are just the right temperature. The grounds are beautiful, clean, and usually well maintained. This year the tennis court was unusable, so no tennis tournament for the teens. There were a few maintenance issues with the unit, but nothing major. The main issue was the smell in the unit upon arrival. It was a mixture of cleaning chemicals and stagnant air. It was not terrible, but definitely unpleasant. With the windows open it dissipated after about two days, but those two days were temperate and had about 90-100% humidity. After the smell was gone and it was warm enough to turn on the air conditioner, to dry everything out, it was again the great vacation we expected.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Terrible terrible terrible! The only good thing about this room was the location! It was close to the beach! We rented several condos this year and this one did not meet our expectations. It was listed as a silver unit. It had mold around the showers,parts of the inside doors were chipped at the bottom, chunks of the countertop was missing, the walls were touched up with paint and did not match and most of all was when picking up something off the kitchen floor we noticed holes that something chewed through the cabinets.(under the sink) We have stayed at the Islander for many many years and never have had a room like this. We were very disappointed that we were changed for silver price and I am not sure it should even be a bronze. All the other rooms ( we rented 9) were awesome. The Islander is a great family place just not this condo. The property is very clean and great for a family. Easy access to the beach and pools.

Great Stay Overall

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We love the Islander and have been coming for many years. We love having the space and the full kitchen when we travel. Plus the complimentary beach service can't be beat! We chose a first floor unit this year as opposed to one of the nicer ones a little higher up so that we could experience walking out our patio straight to the pools and beach. We unfortunately received a call 2 days before our stay stating that they would be weatherproofing the building and we would not have access to our patio the majority of our stay. We were beyond disappointed, but thankfully the work was going a little slower than planned so we were actually able to use it for 2 full days. The main problem we had with this unit were the mattresses and the pillows. They were HORRIBLE and in dire need of replacing. After our first night, we had to make a run to the store to purchase new pillows just so that we could at least get a little sleep the rest of the week. All in all, we will definitely return to the Islander, but would only stay in this unit if there were not any others available.
