The house by itself is a vacation dream, but add Key Colony and the canal and the Cabana Beach Club and it is paradise.

Great home/location

Much larger home than the listing looks and is well- appointed with Nautical furnishings and artwork. Being able to walk to Cabana club to swim in the ocean or the pool was a huge plus. Canal provides easy access to Ocean and gulf. The only downside was the home directly next door (25 feet away) was tented and getting fumigated on our last day and night when we usually enjoy the deck. I was told by the management company that "they do this all the time, no biggie", but it states "poisonous fumes beware" and you could smell a chemical in the air which made us stay away from the house on the last day and then pack/checkout a bit early. Not holding against anyone, but was hoping to spend our last day in the keys outside on the dock and back deck --- next time! Our trip was A+

Key Colony Marathon

This is a really nice duplex on the canal. We had an issue with the downstairs bathroom but the rental company was awesone and came and fixed it right away. This unit is dated and could use some updates. TVs really didn't work in bedrooms. They had cable but no channels that you could really watch. TV in the living room offered Roku. It was to bad the rest didn't have that option. When you rent a vacation rental you are typically on vacation. At the end of our stay you had to have all beach towels washed, dried and put away. Bedding had to have one load done and in dryer and another one going. We had an early flight out so we were up at 4am getting this done. Pretty sure we would have had money taken off our deposit if we didn't get this done. You are paying a lot for a week and have to do half the laundry before you check out. It's kind of ridiculous!!! Plus your paying cleaning fees. You get a pass to the Cabana Club down the street. This was not what I expected. It was dirty, food was horrible and ridiculous in price. The bathrooms reeked of urine. The majority of the folks there were older and quite intoxicated. They were worried about foul language but it was ok for folks to be intoxicated. We never went back. We went to Sombrero beach instead. The rental had beach chairs and a cooler. Not sure I would do another rental but would consider coming with my 5th wheel and camp at the campgrounds near by since we are doing half the cleaning up.

Amazing!

We stayed here for a week with 5 adults and 3 children and there was plenty of room for all of us. The property was beautiful and we loved the clubhouse with the pool and beach access! This neighborhood is quiet and relaxing. Honestly, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again!!

Club Colony made it GREAT

Could have been cleaner. For the money they should give you more than 2 pods for the clothes washer and dish washer. Bathroom was not clean when we got there . Black hair all over the place. Listing was just as posted. It was a great location comfortable.

Great location!!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed this location. Beds are comfy with good mattresses which was a huge plus for us. We were lucky enough to have awesome neighbors check in beside us. Easy access to the ocean on the boat and good dock! Cabana Club (Pool) was right at the end of the street, so it was convenient for the babysitter and kids to go to while the adults fished. We will be back!!

Good property

Great location. Plenty of space. Beds are comfy. Communication with the management co is superior…they answer any questions within minutes. My only complaint is the cleaning. If you’re going to charge a cleaning fee, then the renters shouldn’t be expected to clean. Take out the trash, start the dishwasher is all ok. But above that is cleaning! I would still stay here again.

Family vacation

The place was really nice, has everything you need, plenty of room. We brought our 24’ boat and dock access very nice and convenient. Room for parking the cars and boat trailer worked very well.The cabana is great place to relax at the pool or beach, also nice bar next to the pool. Great experience

Great experience at this location. Like a resort. Beautiful sunrise from deck, boat in back on a canal that leads out to the Atlantic near Vaca Cut to Gulf. Short walk 5 houses down to Cabana Club at the end of street. All the conveniences of home.

Great property!

The property was exactly as advertised, and our family had a wonderful time. The home was very comfortable for us, and our adult kids and teenagers. We spent most of our time outside on the covered porch, or on the dock. We rented a 22 ft. boat for the week and it fit comfortably in the space, and it was only a short 5 minute trip through the channel to the ocean. We had multiple manatees visit every day, which was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this location and property!

Great place

House was very nice and comfortable. Great location!!! Quick access to Atlantic Ocean and Bayside. Walk to Havana Jacks which has great happy hours. The Ahi is awesome!!!

Great house and location for a family

The house has a good layout and is well equipped. The loft sleeping area was a good plus. The pro's on this house- the location is great with the canal and close proximity to the Cabana Club. The house is clean and well furnished. It had everything we needed for cooking etc. The beds were comfy. The bathrooms were clean and well laid out. The cons- The all tile floor is great for the sand but sound travels well, light sleepers will have an issue as normal talking in the living room can be heard in every bedroom. We used fans for white noise and that helped a little. The management note requiring you leave a max of 2 loads of laundry, really with 8 people 6 beds used that meant we had to wash all towels and some of the bedding before we left. It really should be no more than 1 load per bedroom, that's reasonable. Watch out for the candle holder on the wall above the trash cans, after 3 people hit their heads we moved it then put it back before we left. But these are minor issues/ideas for the management to address. Overall it's a great house. The owner seemed nice and easy to work with.

Master bedroom was not comfortable, actually the furniture in general was not comfortable. Most of the dishes had to be washed before use! Cabana Club hours weren’t what we read online. Also the staff in the club were not friendly and it wasn’t clean as far as the pool. Bartender was rude like I was bothering him for a cocktails. The views were amazing all and all good time. Would not stay again

Perfect spot for boaters

I stayed here with some friends and family. We had a 26 ft boat in the slip in front of the house. Was perfect spot we went out fishing or diving everyday. The house was clean and very spacious, also has everything you need. I would definitely come back.

Island Time

Stayed for a week. Great place and super location. Boat dock, fish cleaning station and wash down worked out very well. Plenty of bedrooms and the kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to cook in. Minor issues with some odds and ends. Main floor tub drained slowly. Some of the fans were a little noisy and the beds were in need of new mattresses. But overall, great value and enjoyable stay.

Kitchen was probably the best stocked of all the VRBO homes we have stayed in - it had everything we needed. House was big enough that we could have separate down time or all be together. Canal was beautiful and ocean access was only minutes away. We had a wonderful time!

A great week in the Florida Keys

We stayed at Key Colony for our week in the Keys. It was a great place to stay. Close to all the restaurants and exterior activities. The house was big enough for all 7 of us, lots of space. Really loved the the outside deck, gorgeous spot for our morning coffee. We recommend it to everyone. Hope to return to your beautiful spot in the near future...

A great house in a great location! Spent a week there on our outdoor adventure honeymoon. It was nice to rent a nearby boat and dock it right at the house. Yes ... i was lucky enough to find that rare girl who baits her own hook and rocks a cocktail dress. Lots of activities a short drive away and a few in walking distance. Two state parks within 20 minutes drive that provide days of fun. But if you fish or boat... wel that explains my review title.

A beautiful home in a great location!

We have been to Marathon 3 times and this was our second time staying in Key Colony. There were only 3 of us staying in the home but there was room for plenty more. We enjoyed being able to wake up and have our coffee and breakfast while looking out over our rental boat docked outside. It was September and it was still warm, but the back of the home faces east so we had plenty of shade in the afternoon. I think the only time we were inside was to sleep, cook, or eat dinner. The rest of the time was spent out on the patio and we loved every moment of it. Oh, and everything you need is close by. Two canals over is bait, fuel and dive supplies so it was super easy and fast to get ready for a day of fishing. Bonnie was amazing to work with and I look forward to working with her next year when we book this home again. Thanks Bonnie!!

Everything we needed.

This was our 3rd trip to Marathon and we had a great time. The house had everything we needed. We were two couples and two 18 year olds. The teenagers had the upstairs to themselves. They fished every day. Were visited by an Egret and one day 5 Manatees. That made our day!! Took trips to Bahia Honda and other beaches to snorkel. Ate at all our favorite restaurants. Loved the Cabana Club pool and being able to order great pizza right there. Sparky's is one of our favorite restaurants. Did our shopping at Winn-Dixie and KMart. Your kitchen was well stocked with dishes and utensils we needed. Even had the coffee filters we forgot to buy. And so much counter space. We hope to be back next year but depends on how many will be with us. Want to thank Bonnie again for her help!!
