Bring Your Pet to The Beach! Oceanfront Condominium with Pool and Boardwalk to Beach!

Shipwatch oceanfront condominiums, offered by Hodnett Cooper, have been a favorite family destination for many years. With just 52 residences, Shipwatch is a quiet community ideal for both weekend getaways and multiple month escapes.

Each residence features two bedrooms, two full baths, a combined living, dining, and kitchen area, and a private balcony. #108 has been modified to be wheelchair accessible, including the shower.

Community amenities include boardwalk access to the heart of St. Simons' sand beaches, a swimming pool, volleyball area, large grass lawn , outdoor grills and complimentary in-room high speed internet service.

Though this community is located directly on the ocean, individual residences, unless otherwise specified, do not offer ocean views.

This property will accept pets under 35 pounds for an additional non-refundable $150.

Not clean - cockroaches

The property need updates, it was dirty specially the bathrooms and we found live cockroaches in living room and bathroom.

Condition of property & unit

Property is very dated and in need of repairs and updates. Unit 108 was dirty and needs a complete renovation.

I loved condo 108!

I loved every part of my rental at Shipwatch unit 108! Loved the double car covered parking. Loved easy access to unit. I read in a review prior to booking “it is sooo handicapped”. Completely disagree! The wide doors made whole unit feel so much more open!!! Master bath and shower are great!!! Being able to bring my dog, best bonus ever! Will be back❤️❤️❤️!

Tired and in need of serious makeover

I stayed at Shipwatch approximately 30 years ago and it can unequivocally be said that the condo complex has not aged well. It has an old, sad and depressing feel about it. The elevator was broken at the time. The condo had a strong pungent odor, the stove dating at least 30+ years old had aluminum fold under the electric eyes. The bathrooms are in need of complete remodel. I could go on, but will not. Overall, it had the feel of a very old college dorm room. As a result, we did NOT stay there and selected aa oceanfront condo on the island.

why did we land in an Accessible condo filled with equiptment?

We never asked for this, and it was cumbersome. Accessible properties should be stated-we did not welcome this a bit, but to find equipment and devices filling all of the space we neede/rentedd to use for our things that we could not store in comfort was most inconsiderate: We rented this space, and paid for the owners stuff that impeeded free mobility around the quarters. The condo is outdated , animal hair was all over the carpets, furnishings were placed in front of closets rendering them unusable, Television digital boxes were found teetering, unbalanced on too small furniture. The cigarette ashes of the condo above came flying through the floor boards into our dinner. Scant communication from the ,amager from the beginning. I mentioned we could live with it when asked, only because we did not want to move once settled, however, until this requst for an assessment, no one inquired further. This is not customer service, but only receiving a check. We felt like cattle.

Great location

We loved our stay at this property. It's all about location, location, location. The home is cramped for 6, but perfect if you are a family of 4. The amenities are not much to write about, but nothing to complain when you can walk to the beach

Beautiful beach and great condo

We had the BEST time at Shipwatch. The condo had everything we needed and is in a great location. We biked, visited some great historical places, went on a ghost tour of the island, and had a great time at Neptune Park several evenings, which is loaded with things to do. The ONLY thing that we could find wrong with the condo is that we were on the first floor and could hear Everything that was happening above us (people doing laundr, walking, moving furniture etc at all hours of the night) - but I know this is just a building problem of the condo! And we could have just had extra loud neighbors??? Management was great, also. Had plumbing problems late one night and they arrived in just about 25 minutes. But, we all decided it was the best beach vacation we have had in years and would return again!!

Excellent!

My husband and I have stayed at Shipwatch several times in the past. Whenever we come down to St. Simon's Island we make it a point to stay at Shipwatch. The condo was clean, well taken care of, and well stocked. My only concern was the lack of a rug or two. I completely understand why there is no rug, due to sand, but a rug in the bedrooms would have been much appreciated. Overall, it was a great stay and we will be returning!

Amazing and very wheelchair accessible

What a beautiful location, it’s truly incredible. Pool is nice, warm not crowded, bbq is great, condos have comfortable beds and space, everything is clean and new, super nice staff at site. Shower is really truly honest to god wheelchair accessible with built in bench in walk in shower and hand held showerhead which made this stay incredible for us, as our son uses a wheelchair and normally it’s a nightmare to figure out showering when we travel (and given that we were all in the pool and the ocean everyday, we needed it!).

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Shipwatch. It was clean. The pool was so nice. The beach was a short walk away from the condo. Centrally located to enjoy all amenities the island offers.

We love Shipwatch - on the beach and pet friendly!

My only complaint with this trip was being on the first floor - our guests above us were up all night long stomping and running - I'm sure it was kids but it sounded like three hundred pound grown ups having a wrestling match every night. I know that you have no control over that - but we did complain to Hodnett after the first night but it did not improve. Other than not getting much sleep we love St Simons and Shipwatch - we will be back.
