Lovely!

We loved this place! Ride the funicular up the hill, which is fun and very convenient. Shops and restaurants within a few blocks. The apartment is two stories, nicely decorated, spacious, and has everything you need. There's even a large patio, and a yard full of flowers. Beautiful and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

Very nice town house in a perfect location. My wife and I stayed a couple of nights and loved this town house. It was well equipped, very quiet and in an ideal location to easily visit key sites in short walking distance. Recommend getting 24hr Funicular pass to ride to St Jean street (old historic area) and other attractions. Bedroom and living area upstairs so a bit inconvenient to get to bathroom and shower downstairs, but not a huge issue. My wife would have liked a mirror in upstairs bedroom, for a bit more convenience. Phillipe was very helpful and a pleasant host. Highly recommend!

A Great Stay In Lyon!

Phillipe is an excellent host. The house is spotlessly clean, safe and in an very good location near the St. Just funicular metro stop. It has a kitchen and a very nice living room and bedroom upstairs. We very much hope to stay there again.

Beautiful, off the beaten path apartment

The apartment, with it's lovely garden was just a few minutes walk from the top of the St. Just funicular. Very easy to get away from the old town to relax. Philippe, the owner, was very welcoming and helpful. The apartment was very well appointed and comfortable. Be sure to go to Grain des Sucres patisserie nearby, if you stay here! We hope to come back and stay again. Merci beaucoup Philippe!

Delightful apartment, very close to bus and metro

We had a lovely stay, so comfy, quiet and peaceful yet close to shops, the Metro (Saint Just Funicular) and a bus stop into central Lyon right outside the door. The apartment is delightful! Phillipe was very kind and helpful. Thank you!

Great host, great location.

We had a wonderful stay at Philippe's rental. The apartment is well appointed and there is a private outdoor sitting area. It is situated in a mostly residential area with good restaurants close by. The funicular is a 5 minute walk away and will take you to Old Lyon in 10 minutes. Philippe is wonderful and is always there for you. We would highly recommend this rental.

Beautiful Town House with Relaxing Garden Patio

Beautiful town house. Lovely relaxing outdoor sitting area in the garden with table and chairs. Well equipped kitchen. Good location - 10 min walk to the basilica and 3 min walk to the funicular that takes you to Vieux Lyon. Philippe is a wonderful host. He gave us lots of tips and advice. He provided a hand drawn map and a big bowl of fresh fruit.

Great

Philippe was a great host, friendly, and always responsive. The apartment has everything you need for a short or longer stay, and having an outdoor garden area is a bonus. The location is great - a short walk to the Fenicular which gets you to the old town in 2 minutes which is lovely, lots of cafes and restaurants, while a further 5 minute walk across the bridge gets you in to Lyon proper which is lovely city. There’s a supermarket, butcher and boloungerie in easy walking distance. It’s a great place to stay.

Authentic and relaxing Lyon experience

I stayed at this property with my husband and 8-year old daughter. The property was perfect size for 2 adults and 1 child (she slept on the upstairs fold-out couch connected to the main bedroom). Location was a quiet neighborhood where we felt like locals when we visited the cafe, fromagerie, boulangerie and kids' playground. In 10 easy minutes we were able to walk to the roman ruins or old town. We really enjoyed the back patio, picnic table and garden and enjoyed several snacks and meals there, including take-away from Lyon's famous food hall, "Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse". The kitchen had everything in the kitchen to warm up and enjoy our meal! As others have noted, the weather was hot during our visit and the upstairs gets quite hot at night, but we managed. Philippe was a great host and gave us a thorough introduction when we arrived. He lives on property and can be easily reached if needed.

Wonderful stay in Lyon

We had a wonderful stay in Lyon. Philippe was an excellent host with good English so we could communicate well with him. The unit is totally separate from his house, so we had complete privacy. The bedroom is on the upper level, so you need to be mobile enough to go up and down to use the bathroom on the main level. The location is convenient to use the public transportation. It is a short walk to the Roman Theatre ruins and to the Eglise Saint-Irenee. Philippe has a garden that we enjoyed. We highly this property and when we visit Lyon again, we would stay here.

Lyon by bike

Nice apartment in higher Lyon. Cosy garden, private parking place and very friendly owner. Nice to have the funiculaire at 300 meters from the apartment. It is permitted to take your bike in the funiculaire. In this way you can reach the centre of the old town in 3 minutes. Kitchen, toilet and shower are downstairs. Livingroom and bedroom with good bed are upstairs.

A calm oasis in an amazing location

We loved our stay at this house on top of the hill in Fourviere. The location is brilliant - the funicular that takes you down to Vieux Lyon and Metro connections to the rest of Lyon is just a few minutes walk from the house, and it’s also an easy walk to the amazing basilica that can be seen from across Lyon, and to the Roman amphitheater and museum. The house itself was very comfortable and well equipped with everything we needed, very clean, comfortable bed, plenty of space for the two of us, and a lovely little garden area to sit for drinks and food. A real oasis. Philippe was an excellent host, extremely hospitable and helpful. We highly recommend this house to other travelers!

We cannot fault the stay in anyway. Philippe was the perfect host. We stayed for 2 weeks, the house is clean ,comfortable and very quiet, the courtyard is perfect for sitting out in. Philippe lives nearby and is always on hand to help and offer any advice, check in and in fact the whole stay was so trouble free.The location is perfect, the funicular is about 500 yards away which leads directly to all metro/tram/bus lines. Lyon is a very beautiful city, the food is as nice as you would hope, the locals are very friendly. We are sad to leave. Thank you Philippe :)

A lovely oasis

The house itself is very thoughtfully set out, with a good selection of kitchen tools (good knives!) and a comfortable bed and couch. The neighborhood is charming, with several nice restaurants very nearby, and a few places to get supplies for cooking at home. Fourviere Basilica and the ruins of Lugdunum are approx 10 mins walk away, the funicular into Vieux Lyon is 3 minutes away, and all in all, this is a perfectly situated spot. The garden and its denizens are lovely. Philipe is a thoughtful, pleasant host, who checked in on us when our paths crossed and gave us some very welcome suggestions. I would wholeheartedly recommend this house to friends and family, and would cheerfully come back.

Comfortable and convenient

We enjoyed our stay in Philipe's home which was charmed and modern, with everything you need to cook if you like or just have a restful moment with a cup of coffee from the Nespresso machine provided. His place overlooks his beautiful garden on one side and the street on the other; both were quiet during our stay. We were in the midst of a heat wave so it was very hot in the evenings. If you plan to stay when it's very hot, I recommend wearing light pajamas and possibly having a water spray bottle to help you cool off while the fan blows. The location of the home was about two blocks to the funicular, and the public transit system in Lyon is very easy to navigate. We were able to go everywhere we wanted conveniently with a 48 hour metro pass. If you are not very mobile, I highly recommend the funicular, as the walk up and down to Vieux Lyon is one very very long cobblestoned street. Thank you for your warm hospitality Philipe!

A hidden gem in Fourviere

It was such a a surprise to find our backyard was a large garden! Philippe was an exceptional host! His hand drawn map of the local streets was much more useful than Google maps! Downstairs you find the bathroom+ separate toilet and a spacious kitchen equiped with everything a homecook needs. Upstairs are the rooms with garden views. A spacious living area and large master bedroom. Room to do yoga! Tastefully renovated, reflecting the owners style. A beautiful vase belonging to his grandmother was just another delight to discover. There are no laundry facilities. But nothing to worry about with a Laundromat just across the street. A quick walk to the funicular and connections to the very efficient metro & tram system make it very easy for traveller's without a car! We highly recommend the Lyon city card that includes public transport. Philippe's English is great which was very helpful as we are non french speaking Australians! The location and a fabulous host make this a "must book" for Lyon!

A wonderful home in a wonderful city

The location of the house is amazing. We stayed 7 days and went to Bellecour (main square) TCL bus operator (bus stop outside) where we purchased a 7 day pass for 22 euros giving access to ALL transport. Funicular is 2 minutes walk away, buses outside door. The system is ultra simple and the location meant we were able to explore the WHOLE city fast, efficiently and at a minimal cost. One of the best bakeries I know in France is a few steps away (grains de sucre) and there are a few local shops around it too. As we ate out mostly, it wasn't difficult for us to buy a few basics. The house is lovely, decorated with taste and very light. Be aware loo and bathroom are downstairs so not a house for limited mobility but then neither is Lyon which can be up and down often and is HUGE. Philippe, our host, is a perfect host and gentleman. The house has plenty of bin bags, loo rolls, detergent, cooking oils, vinegars etc which, again, is great. We called on Philippe a couple of times and he gave us immediate assistance. We would recommend this home 100 %. Fabuleux... MERCI PHILIPPE.

Die Unterkunft liegt perfekt in einem gewachsenen Viertel mit Geschäften des täglichen Bedarfs, Bars und Restaurants. Wir haben es sehr genossen, nach einem Tag in der Stadt auf den Hügel zurückzukehren und in dem atmosphärischen kleinen Häuschen die Ruhe zu genießen. Mit der Terrasse und dem schönen Garten fühlt man sich überhaupt nicht wie in einer Großstadt. Es war alles sehr sauber und auch die Ausstattung der Küche läßt keine Wünsche offen.Leider wurde die nur wenige Gehminuten entfernte Standseilbahn gerade gewartet, was aber nicht schlimm war, da sich in unmittelbarer Nähe des Hauses eine Bushaltestelle befindet, sodass es kein Problem war, mit dem Bus in die Stadt zu gelangen.Philippe ist ein sehr angenehmer und sympathischer Gastgeber und hat uns mit vielen Tipps sowohl zu Restaurants in der Stadt als auch in der näheren Umgebung versorgt. Merci beaucoup!Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen gerne wieder.
