The Majestic Star – 705 Columbia Ave

Located in the heart of Cape May’s historical district three blocks from town and two blocks from one of the most pristine beaches on the Northeast coast, the Majestic Star is an expansive home perfectly positioned to experience one of the most unique towns in America. The short walk along picturesque Columbia Avenue to the downtown restaurant scene, boutique shops, live music venues and more will take you by some of the best preserved Gothic Revival Victorian architecture in the country built with features modeled after the great churches of Europe. Our home was built in 1870 and past owners include one of the original publishing families in the country, yet the interior has a decidedly modern beach feel. From either the open air porch or glass screened in area watch the horse-drawn carriage tours walk past or take a look across the way at the beautiful Chalfonte Hotel as they host weddings.

Please note our property has just one reserved parking spot, we have unmetered spaces along our street Columbia but during peak days (Fri/Sat May-Sep) additional spaces could be 1-3 blocks away. The good news is with our location close to town and the beach you won’t need your car much! Early check in for weekend stays Sep-May is generally available to help with parking as well.

We provide all bed and bath linens, something we are continually surprised is not standard in Cape May. For the interior, one of our bedrooms is part of a rear attached cottage which is a perfect place for two guests to have a bit more privacy and also their own kitchen. Other interior highlights include a sun room located off our first floor bedroom with its own daybed and reading chair, a large dining room, and a well-stocked board game collection of our favorites. Outside our outdoor grill and fire pit are perfect for summer night cookouts. We look forward to hosting you!

We had a wonderful stay for my daughter’s Wedding. Plenty of rooms and space for the bridesmaids to stay and get ready for the wedding. Loved the vintage feel. Great for pre wedding pictures of the bride. Porch was also fantastic for post wedding gathering!

The house was comfortable and bright. Most Bedrooms had private baths. Great kitchen, 3 refrigerators worked out great for food and drinks. Porch with rocking chairs was a great way to start each day! Backyard was a perfect spot for dining outside. Definitely a nice extended family stay that’s close to everything!!

A gem! This vrbo was pure perfection! The house is quant and charming, clean, and beautifully decorated. It was fun to walk around and see all the cute little nick nacks and cape may decorations. The beds are very comfortable and we had tons of room to spread out. The porch is where we spent most of our time just sitting and rocking and watching the horse drawn carriages and bikers and walkers pass by. Amazing! The host and house manager were quick to respond with any question. We loved this house.

House has all of the old world charm with wonderfully renovated interior, AC works flawlessly, plenty of common space and bathrooms for everyone. Truly my favorite house I’ve ever rented.

All You Need is This Porch in Cape May!

As the saying goes, all you need is a porch in Cape May and this one is one of the best! Having stayed all over Cape May over the last 20 years we were beyond impressed with the hospitality and beauty offered by the team at Majestic Star. Having the linens included was a huge bonus. The house is beautiful, everything was as described. For our large group of different families the bedroom layout was perfect. Of note, there are two rooms (king near front of house on first floor) and second floor king that have attached rooms with either space for a pack and play or an actual twin bed--great set up for families with young ones! Thanks again Jake, we look forward to many more years in the Majestic Star!

Magical Reunion

The house and the location are perfect. We spent lots of the time in the living room as it is very comfortable (our weather wasn't great the first few days). The owner is the best host ever- I have rented before from VRBO and Jake surpasses them all the hosts I have. He is very responsive and seems like a great guy. I highly recommend the Majestic Star!

Wonderful week

We had a family vacation consisting of our blended family. We had 12 adults and 7 children and we couldn’t have chosen a better place to be. The house was absolutely perfect. Plenty of room for all of us to spread out. And the amazing porch where we drank our coffee every morning and finished with cocktails every night was the highlight of our week. We were able to walk to the beach where we watched the dolphins all day. And walk to Washington Street Mall to shop, eat & hang. I didn’t move my car all week. The owners were very responsive when needed for a few minor things. This was the best place I’ve ever stayed.

Glorious Weekend

The location was perfect. The house had both character and modern amenities. The beds were extra comfy and the house was clean. It was filled with everything you would need. Everyone in our party talked about renting it again. Definitely would recommend!

Exceptional property!!!

We had a family reunion in this incredible home with age range of 12 to 89 year old family members. Everyone was so impressed by this home. Each room is beautifully decorated and bright. The beds are so comfortable that many of my family members stated they slept better in this home then their own homes. The house was super clean and had everything we needed including shampoo and soaps in bathrooms. We were 2 blocks away from the beach and a few blocks from the main shopping and restaurant area. Our stay was Nov 20th and the weather was so great we managed to have coffee on the front outdoor porch. The large dinning area allowed all of us to have family dinners all together. All of my family left asking to make this home our annual tradition to get together moving forward. Jacob was absolutely amazing in communicating. As soon as I hit send in messaging him, I received a reply and solution within 15-20 min. He accommodated every one of our needs and exceeding all of our expectations. We will sure to be back!!!!!!! Highly recommend this amazing home!!!!!!!!

I can't say enough good things about this gorgeous home!! If I could stay forever, I would! The house is so beautifully and tastefully decorated and so well appointed. It had everything we needed and more for our girls' weekend. The location is central to EVERYTHING. The hosts were so kind and generous and so prompt to respond to all questions. The entire group wanted to write their own rave review since they loved it so much. I fully intend to rent this property again. Thank you!

Bright, airy house with the friendliest hosts

I can't understate the generosity and helpful nature of the hosts of this beautiful home. The house is even more airy and bright than the pictures reveal, and we had an outdoor dinner in the backyard with our family that we will cherish forever! We highly recommend staying here and making some memories of your own - it won't disappoint!

Majestic is a perfect name for this home

We had to quarantine to make this weekend happen but the Majestic Star and it’s owners made this priceless family weekend possible. 4 generations under 1 roof with room to spare and keep everyone safe and entertained. The enclosed porch was perfect for the babies and great grandparents. The cottage was PERFECT for the great grandparents being on the first floor but at the back of the house nice and quiet. It had EVERYTHING you would possibly need and it felt like a home not just a vacation rental. Beautifully renovated with high end appliances in the kitchen, baths, and bedrooms but still so quaint and has a warm old Victorian Cape May feel. Our memories made here will last a lifetime

Location, location, location

Great house in a great spot. The horse and carriages ride by, music from nearby B&B can be heard from the porch, and a short walk to beach, shopping and restaurants. Wonderful family vacation, excellent owners. Recommended.

Outstanding experience

The owners were absolutely amazing, they were very accommodating and always quick to respond. The house had everything we needed and more. All appliances, showers, linens, kitchenware, and bedrooms were beyond my expectations. It was very clean, roomy and comfortable. The location was absolutely perfect, few blocks from the beach, restaurants and shopping. I have rented homes in the past, but was blown away by the hospitality and courtesy of Amanda and Jacob. Thank you again for everything you provided for us and for an amazing stay. We definitely plan on coming back.

Family reunion in July

We are experienced and picky beach renters and we absolutely loved this house! The location is spectacular and the owners are wonderful and thoughtful. It’s beautifully redone (looks way nicer in person than even the pictures!) and fits a crowd comfortably. We cooked dinner for 15 easily and kitchen(s) and dining room works great. The furnishings in all rooms are really nice. Backyard is big and you can store bikes and all beach stuff easily. Outdoor showers are big plus too. Fabulous rental and will definitely come back!

My wife's family has been coming down to Cape May for over 60 years and it has been our escape from the city every weekend from May to October since we met. It has been a dream of ours to enter the hospitality business and we couldn't be more excited to start. We are looking for guests who want to come year after year and would very much like feedback on your experience!

Columbia Ave is our absolute favorite block in Cape May. It has a unique stretch of old beautiful homes and a lively energy on the weekends with the horse drawn carriages and nearby weddings. With our house you get the best of both worlds in a charming old house but with lot's of recent interior renovation work. The location is just a short walk from nearly everywhere you will want to go in Cape May, can leave the car keys in the house.
