"This is a very comfortable property in an excellent location with three stories of fantastic views over beautiful Vallecito Lake and surrounding mountains. We couldn't have asked for a better family retreat with nearby access to boating, hiking, and good food. Cool breezes through open windows even in the height of summer made for some excellent sleeping, and two living areas and multiple decks offered several comfortable spots for relaxing with books, games, and movies. We didn't end up cooking much, but the main kitchen was very well stocked and even the outdoor grill came with an excellent view. We were in the area for a wedding, and the hosts anticipated all our needs including setting up two irons and ironing boards. They were also very quick to answer texts and even mailed us a computer charger that we accidentally left behind. Long story short, we will definitely be back when we have a chance to be in Colorado again. Great vacation, highly recommended place and hosts."

“The lake house is such a special place. Vallecito is a stunning rare gem in Colorado, with trees all around and the mountainside striking up from the water. We came with our two little kids, ages 3 and 15 mos. We ate every meal out on the massive deck. The house stayed very cool and breezy which was perfect. Views out every window. We brought our bikes and biked around to the other side of the lake. We’ve traveled all around CO and lived in the Denver area for 6 years. Vallecito is very unique and magical. Don and Emma have infused their radiance into every inch of this lakeside retreat. Bring the family, bring friends, prepare to surrender to the lake effect of deep relaxation. "

"This is the perfect retreat for a family reunion, or any get away. The views are amazing. The sunrise over the lake is unforgettable. When our friends saw pictures of our stay there, they asked, "Why did you come home?" The area is peaceful, yet so much to do- cycling, hiking or just walking around is a treat. We found friendly restaurants, and grocery stores in the immediate area. Anyone will find Bayfield or Durango great day trips. The honey store is a must. The lake house itself is very comfortable with lots of room to spread out."

"My adult children and I had a wonderful weekend at the lake house. My girls were thrilled by the property. They were pleasantly surprised by the multi-level house with large windows on every floor. A treat both for the views and all the natural light. We enjoyed cooking our meals together in the well-equipped kitchen. We brought our kayaks and hiking shoes and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the area. There are very nice hiking trails close by and a boat ramp, right down the street. I look forward to returning this summer."

"I stayed at the lake house, this past October. It was "heaven on earth." Felt completely safe and secure. I love to take pictures, and the views from the house to the lake and around are beautiful. The scenery on the drive up was amazing, so many different shades of fall colors. The big kitchen had everything I needed. I was cozy warm with the fireplace and comfy bed. It was full moon that weekend, which was an extra treat. Don and Emma are caring and trustworthy. They want anyone that visits their lake house to feel like you are at home...and I did...Enjoy!"

We love this area! Our dear friend, Maury invited us to share his family's cabin. After searching, we found this special place. For years, we came up to restore and upgrade. Now we build great memories on the lake with visiting family and friends. We enjoy hosting groups who need a relaxing, fun get-away. Walk out the front door and turn left. Follow the gravel road down the hill, to the lake. This country road takes you to the marina. We are not far away, so please let us know if you need anything to improve your stay!
Por qué escogió este alojamiento
Maury said, "You want to be on the lake!" We are so glad to have found this gem. It has been a peaceful haven for writing projects and relaxing vacations. The brilliant lake views calm the mind and inspire the soul. We love hiking and biking around the lake as much as sailing, swimming and canoeing across the lake. The natural breezes and ceiling fans keep every room well-ventilated. Four hot water heaters cover everyone's shower and laundry needs. With two dishwashers, one on the grill level and one in the kitchen, clean-up goes smoothly. If you have any issues during your stay, we are just down the road, please call right away. By the way, the Vrbo commission fee is included in the base rate. However, on top of the base rate, Vrbo will add: 2.9% Colorado General Sales and Use Tax, 2% La Plata County General Sales and Use Tax, 1.9% La Plata County Accommodations Tax, approximately 3% payment processing fee, and a Vrbo traveler service fee. So far, all of our guests say their time here is priceless. We hope you enjoy your vacation! FarAndWide.com named Vallecito/Bayfield as #11 in their 35 Best Small Lake Towns in the U.S. By Alexa Erickson and Craig Donofrio, updated on June 25, 2021 "The Experience: Bayfield, Colorado Vallecito Lake-Another Colorado lake town, Bayfield features a small historic district with a few shops and restaurants in town, but it’s the town’s Vallecito Lake that’s the star. Vallecito is one of the highest mountain lakes of its size anywhere, residing at 8,000 feet above sea level. The lake is full of rainbow trout, brown trout and northern pike, making it a big draw for fishing. Also, be sure to check out the Tour of Carvings — 14 carvings standing around 18-feet tall created after the Missionary Ridge Fire of 2002 burned 70,000 acres. Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial
We are a couple miles from the Weminuche Woodfire Grill with scrumptuous food, live music and special events. Even closer is the General Store with deli and liquor store. Across the street from the Grill is a Country Market with Mexican Restaurant and liquor store. From our big east-facing windows, you see a magical, moon river dance across the lake. From upstairs, look for a little, round, bright green tree on an island, across the lake. This helps you to single it out, from a boat, making the further shore more approachable. The marina rents a variety of boats, with life vests and fishing tackle. They sell fishing licenses. To park at the marina or along the lake (excluding the road just below us) you buy a $5 day pass at the marina or self-pay at the brown, Forestry Service boxes below the dam, and around the lake. Just hang it in your car windshield for the day. Restaurant and market parking is free while you dine or shop. If anyone in your group is slow to acclimate to the 8,000 ft (2438 m) elevation, we have a small oxygen bar, to aid recovery and give a natural energy boost. Please give us a call, if you need anything!
