Owner is a Nightmare
I am not sure where to begin. Because of holiday travel and long lines at the airport, we arrived to the house later than originally planned but my older sister was able to get there before us and meet with Tara (owner) before the 14 of us arrived. The first few days were riddled with constant communication from Tara about not running air conditioners. This because an issue because I have 2 family members who are diabetic so coming home to a very HOT house was problematic for us. Tara continued to insist that we could not run the AC if we were not in the home, and finally compromised to running two units or she would charge us an additional fee. The following day after our arrival, Tara wanted to come to the house and meet again and get our passports. This was upsetting because we are on vacation and much of the administration of these things could have been handled before our trip or digitally. There was valuables left in a safe, that we did not feel comfortable having there. Tara was constantly driving by the property or trying to come over to the property. We had an issue with the AC in one bedroom but as soon as one of the husbands could figure out how to run it, it worked just fine. Even though when I brought it up to Tara she was instantly upset that we were repairing the AC- which we weren't just learning how it worked.
The home and villas are nice but the constant communication from the home owner, gardener and cleaning lady arriving at the house at 9am were difficult to manage especially the days we slept in. On the afternoon before our departure, we decided to change our shuttle and have them pick us up at 3pm the day before. When the cleaning crew arrived, I let them know so they wouldn't have to clean twice. This is the same day that we were all sitting in the main house, cooking a late brunch and my sister felt water on her feet near the built in. We looked up at the AC and seen it was leaking down the wall. This was about Noon. I immediately notified Tara and told her it needed immediate attention. She said she was coming to the house and blamed us that because we ran the AC in the main house, caused the unit to freeze up and stop working. As I was heading back to the house just before 3pm, Tara and her gardener were there and already had the power off to the house as we tried to get our belongings to leave. It was such an invasion of our privacy. The house was great, the location was decent, but this host was a nightmare!
