Superior River Cabin-Cabin on AuTrain River Close to Snowmobile/ATV Trails

The Superior River Cabin is a three bedroom, year round rental cabin on the shores of the AuTrain River, 10 miles southwest of Munising and the Pictured Rocks in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The cabin is also 1 mile South of Trail 418. The complete kitchen has full-sized appliances, a microwave, toaster, utensils and coffee makers (Keurig and Regular Pot). There are three bedrooms located on the upper level with a Queen in bedroom one, a Queen and Twin in bedroom two and a Twin and Full/Double in bedroom three. Main bathroom is located on the main floor and there is a half bath upstairs. Enjoy family time around the firepit and relax in the hammock. There are 2 grills on the property, charcoal and gas (propane is provided). Note: firewood is not provided.

***Door code will be released the day of check-in for security purposes. Property does have outdoor cameras at the entrance.

***If you are booking through Airbnb or VRBO you will receive a separate contract from Pictured Rocks Vacation Rentals. In order to receive check-in information you will be required to sign this.

A great cabin, as advertised. Beautiful location onAu Train river. Stairs which are steep and narrow and the sulfur smell in the tap water took a little getting used to but worked out fine. Would come back again if we're in the area.

It felt peaceful, private, and gave us a chance to really unplug and relax.Au Train Beach was beautiful, and the hike to Chapel Rock was totally worth it—definitely some of the highlights of our trip.Would absolutely stay here again next year!

It was well-stocked with everything we needed—plenty of towels, blankets, toiletries, and a nicely equipped kitchen. We didn’t use the private garage, but it was a nice option to have. The available grills gave us another way to cook, and we really enjoyed a relaxing evening by the firepit making s’mores and hotdogs.Out back, the shallow river offered peaceful views with frequent visits from mallards, and we even spotted a bald eagle—definitely a highlight. The beds were comfortable, and the heating kept us cozy throughout our stay.The only downside was hearing small vermin in the walls and attic. Thankfully, none made it inside, and we took precautions with our dry goods just in case. Still, it didn’t take away too much from an overall enjoyable stay.

Great Cozy Cabin

We went here for our “Spring” break trip in March. Very nice property! A cozy northern getaway! A lot of outdoor activities that made it even more worthwhile. Great communication with the lister and lots of flexibility on their end. Only thing that we were a bit surprised by was how much iron there was in the water but this was at no fault of the lister, just comes with this region. Highly recommend!

Great cabin with an amazing view

Property is in a great location. Very well-stocked kitchen, plenty of clean linens, everything was absolutely spot on. Looking forward to booking this cabin next summer and I will recommend this location to family and friends.

Peaceful retreat

This comfy cabin is located on a river in the woods, yet you are close to the village of Autrain and a short drive to Lake Superior. The beds were comfortable and there is plenty of space to sit and visit with family in the living room. The kitchen is well stocked, but there is no dishwasher. That was fine with us since we ate out every night. The view of the river is gorgeous. We saw plenty of ducks and birds. The yard has a nice fire pit and a swinging bench. The weather was cold and damp, so we did not get a chance to enjoy the outdoor area. This is a great place for a family to vacation.

Although the weather was not the greatest, we enjoyed the beautiful landscape and the coziness of the cabin. Otherwise, this was a great place to stay for our sight-seeing vacation to the UP. :)

Perfect Getaway

This place was just perfect for our 2 families. The living area was great with plenty of seating and the kitchen was fully stocked. The river is just beautiful - an absolute joy renting kayaks and floating the Au Train.

Great Location!

The property was exactly as advertised! While the home was comfortable and well stocked, the fire pit and front porch overlooking the river was where we spent most of our time. When we had a hot water issue, the hosts responded promptly and addressed the problem. This was a great rental at a reasonable price.

Quiet and cozy

It was a great place, everything you need they provided. It was a quiet area, no more than a 20-35 minutes to either Munising or Marquette. Beach is right down the road, and many things to do, highly recommend Riptide tour in Munising! Enjoyed our stay very much, would defiantly return. My only complaint was the water, very irony, which is understandable considering the area. Would just recommend bringing bottled water to cook, drink or make ice with. This did not hinder our stay at all! Thank you again we would recommend this place to anyone! my only complaint is the water. wad the water

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: CABIN FEEDBACK:My family has vacationed at many rental places throughout the Eastern US. This cabin was one of the best! Welcoming open space of cooking, dining, watching movies, and playing games. Very well stocked kitchen, towels and linens provided and lots of small amenities available (previous folks have left spices and plastic baggies in the kitchen; hobo pie makers and hotdog cooking long implements out by the fire pit). Yes, the towels may be a bit frayed, and the pots and pans are used, but hey, they are there! (Which is more than can be said for most other vacation rental places). Terrific to have a washer / dryer. Great Wi-Fi and smart TV. The location is wonderful. It felt remote and secluded - a river in your back yard and Lake Superior minutes away by car. At the same time, it is walking distance to kayak rentals. a 15 minute easy drive to Munising; 45 to Marquette (grocery stores in both places).One suggestion: Pest control. Previous reviews have commented on the animals in the walls of the upstairs back bedroom. My adult daughter slept downstairs on the couch several nights rather than listen to the animals scratch. Address this problem, please.LEASING AGENT FEEDBACKLeasing agency: tighten up your processes. Despite wording on the website, apparently everyone needs to sign a contract. Reserving through the rental site, I was unaware of the contract until I reached out the week renting. I had to send multiple emails to get the contract, sign it, and receive a PDF. The leasing office should drive this process, not me. Leasing agency communications were terse, often requiring follow-up clarification emails from me. Agency: convey at the start that all communication is done by you through email (the location has sporadic cell phone coverage) Renters: check your emails BEFORE arriving. If you wait until you are standing at the cabin, you may not be able to read your emailed access code, leaving you stran

They made it very easy, and with the two payments, I didn't have to use my credit card so that's a bonus! We really enjoyed the cabin and the river! We actually paddled up stream to AuTrain lake (super easy, almost no current). We met a few neighbors when their dogs paid us a visit, and everyone was nice. Can't wait to rent it again and show more people how cool it is. Keep in mind, this isn't in the woods, you are in a dirt road neighborhood.

Wonderful river retreat

The lake superior cabin was everything we expected! Very clean and well supplied. We had everything we needed in a perfect location. Close to all the sites we wanted to visit yet secluded enough for the privacy we wanted.

My entire loved this cabin!

This cabin was amazing. My 4 year old boy did not want to leave what he now calls “our cabin”. The cabin was clean and well maintained. It was quiet and very relaxing. We will definitely be making another trip back!
