The Houtman Retreat is very special property. Located between Saugerties and Woodstock, the house is sited on a quiet country road, and while the property is private, it is not isolated. The interior is just as special: 4 bedrooms and three baths, well separated for privacy but with spacious common areas for comfortable conviviality. (We can offer a 2-bedroom, 2-bath version for less cost if you need a smaller space.)

There is a wood-burning fireplace in the living room, and a gas fireplace in the sitting room. There is a spacious kitchen, well stocked, and in another area is a prep kitchen just in case you’re cooking for a crowd. And if two kitchens aren’t enough, there is an outdoor kitchen in back with a gas grill, a smoker, and a pizza oven!

For fun in summer, we have a 4-foot deep heated pool that is available 3rd week in May through third week in September. The hot tub is available all year round. And for more fun any time, a lovely walk down the path behind the property lands you next to the stream. Take a lazy walk along the cleared path, or just sit and look and the water flowing and the wildlife moving about.

The style was carefully chosen and executed. The atmosphere is calming and restful and, above all, comfortable. The upstairs master provides a king-size bed. Downstairs we have 3 bedrooms, one hosts a queen bed and a view of the pool, another has a king, and the 4th bedroom has bunk beds—a twin on top and a full on the bottom.

We provide all linens and towels for both the bath and the pool/hot tub. There is wood for the fireplace and firepit, and gas for the grill and the gas-burning fireplace. As well, there are many amenities such as soaps and shampoos. And for the kitchen we have the pantry basics, such as salt & pepper, some spices, olive oil.
