This cottage was just perfect for my children and I! So cute, clean and cozy! Had a wonderful beach feel to it and was so close to all the beaches. The backyard and yard games were great as well as the deck and patio table for morning coffee and dinner. The he house had everything we needed and the beds were very comfortable. The outdoor shower was perfect for after the beach and my older son loved his own space in the detached room. I’d definitely stay here again!

Rainy weekend

This is a very cute home. Teenager loved the detached room. The beach was mesmerizing even with a cold rainy weekend. I want us to come back in summer. Water pressure in shower was really good and welcomed after traveling. I am embarrassed to say we got in very late in the dark and I didn’t look at the house numbers there is a similar colored home across the street. Please check the house number before making the same mistake in the dark. Walmart is close by we were able to go buy towels and snacks. It’s really charming

Well-loved Rental in Excellent Location

We enjoyed our stay in the lovely neighborhood of Snug Harbor! We had amazing weather, and the breezes effectively cooled the little cottage (a heat wave might have been an issue). Thekitchen was well-stocked, and basic cleaning supplies were provided. The check-in instructions were clear and easy to follow, and the house had a thoroughly written welcome book. There were no urgent needs for us to contact the host during our stay, and the house was adequately cleaned. The neighborhood felt quiet and safe, and our kids enjoyed playing in the yard in the evenings. We enjoyed the walk to the marina, and we drove the short 5 minutes to East Matunuck Beach (just more convenient and a little safer with small kids). Although we did not need to contact the host about anything, future improvements might be replacing the one bedroom door, as it cannot shut all the way. The front door also could be a bit finicky with the security lock (not sure if an issue with the security lock or door itself). We were able to lock it, but it needed to be double checked and sometimes took several tries. The outside shower worked excellently, although we did need to use the inside shower on occasions due to weather and it seems that the heating element may need replacing. The separate room/shed combination was not needed by us, but we appreciated the beach chairs and boogie boards that were available inside. Great beach location and quick trips to towns like South Kingstown, Narragansett, and Wickford!

Cute Cottage

We stayed here for a couple of nights and overall it was a 3.5* experience. The cottage is very small and charming. The location is stellar, the beach was just a five minute drive and there were plenty of restaurants within 15 minutes. We missed the part on renting sheets or bringing them which is why I won't ding them on that point, but the top comforters hadn't been washed since the last visit as we found hairs and could tell by their fragrance they didn't smell of laundry soap. There is a Walmart and TJ Maxx within 20 minutes so we made it happen for a small investment and a trip to town. The place would be perfect for two adults and two kids, the third bedroom is actually out in a standalone building which one side is a shed and the second side is a bedroom. There is a window with an AC unit, but it is just a room with a bed, you have to go into the main house to use the bathroom. I wasn't too keen on allowing the kids to stay out there by themselves nor would I have had their grandma stay out there either. Overall, it was good. Gas grill, fully stocked kitchen, I think if we were staying for a week, we could have been cozy and enjoyed the outdoor space, cooked a meal or two, and used the outside deck more. The area was very quiet after 8pm. We loved Skips coffee shop, the desserts at Capt'n Jacks are outrageously good, and we drove to the town beach one day and east beach the other. We preferred Easter which had a lovely surf and a fantastic pavilion.

Clean cozy cottage by beaches

Wonderful Relaxing Time!

My son and his family joined me and it was wonderful. We played games with them outside on the grass, we never used the pool, but saw one was available. The bathroom as advertised is small, but the outside shower makes up for any issues there! The only thing I may have misunderstood was the proximity to the beach. I thought I could ride the bike to the beach, that was not really possible as it was pretty far away and no sidewalks or bike lanes. But we had a wonderful time with the children. Thank you Barbara and family for allowing us to stay in your family's cottage.

Snug Harbor cottage

We had a wonderful stay in Snug Harbor at Barbara's cottage. Our family (me and my husband and our 5 and 13 year old sons) and found the cottage was perfect for our needs. Easy access to the beach and nearby Matunuck neighborhood and we enjoyed outings to Newport and Narragansett. Barbara was easy to communicate with!

Owners and sisters, Barbara and Katherine spent their childhood in Albany, NY. Barbara now lives Amherst, NH ; Katherine lives in Davidsonville, MD. Although the cottage has been in the family since the late 1960’s, they took sole ownership 16 years ago.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

The cottage was purchased by our father in the mid 1960's. Originally a small fishing bungalow, it has been refurbished, updated and additions built to accomodate current and future generations of our family. Family members enjoy spending time here when it is not rented especially the July 4th week.

The cottage sits on .33 acres which is a rare find in coastal communities of RI. Snug Harbor is a small community of both seasonal and year round homes. Recent land development has seen a boom in large stately homes without compromising the feel of a quaint small community frequented by those who love to antique, boat, fish, swim, soak in the sun and take in the sounds of the beach . Many well known seaside restaurants abound in the area for feasting on fresh local seafood.
