Private, Beautiful Lake Front Home in Prime Location

Welcome to our beloved home, Le Chaumiere Sur Lac which simply translates to "The Lake House."

We are so excited to share our slice of heaven with you! We built this house and have enjoyed it to the fullest for years; but it's time to let others in on the magic as well!

Our house is located on County Road 440 which is a staple road in Munising with a prime location for snowmobiling, ATVing, hiking, sight-seeing, private lake front property, and so much more. The house sits on its very own private and secluded piece of land, with easy access right off the road. We are only 1 of 3 other properties on this entire inland lake so it truly feels like your very own. Our large spacious yard hosts the ability for relaxing next to a campfire at night, kayaking the lake to watch the sunrise, plenty of room for yard games, a delicious back-yard barbeque, and more! We have two large decks on both levels of the home that beg to be enjoyed with morning coffee, or a clear UP night to sit and star gaze.

Inside of our newly built home we offer a fully stocked kitchen, bedrooms with the most beautiful lake view complete with all bedding, two full bathrooms with towels provided and a beautiful, spacious open concept layout perfect for your whole family to enjoy or even just a couple's getaway. This truly is such a pristine vacation destination- guaranteed to provide the exact type of retreat you need.

As mentioned, our location is truly spectacular and very sought after. You have a great opportunity to take day trips exploring all the Upper Peninsula has to offer on convenient roads, a general store for any forgotten items- (and ice cream!), only a few miles up the road, you can leave right from the front door on your ATV or snowmobile and access major trail systems, or you can find enough to do right on site and have a spectacular "stay-cation" right at the house.

We are so honored to host and are confident you will quickly fall in love with our own little paradise. Family memories are a sure thing here at Le Chaumiere Sur Lac.

Amazing surroundings situated in a private forest area with a personal lake. The house was even more accommodating than the listing showed. Our dogs loved the grassy landscape too.

We truly enjoyed our time at the cabin. It’s situated in Hiawatha National Forest, by the lake,- great place to relax and recharge. Cabin was just as described: beautifully decorated, clean, well equipped with everything needed for a longer stay. It even had two kayaks available.Host was easily reached and very accommodating. Highly recommended!

We loved our stay! Everything was so clean and comfortable. Exactly as listed and more beautiful in person. If you are not used to well water, plan to bring your own. Kitchen was very well stocked and had spices and extra things I needed to make dinners. We would definitely stay here again!

The place was clean for the most part when we arrived. There was no hot water and required me to contact the Property manager to locate the hot water heater and turn on unit. There were also dirty dishes in the dish washer upon arrival. The primary access to the basement lower level bedrooms has a very unsafe railing that requires replacement. Our primary purpose of the trrip was to snowmobile. i was told be the property Manager that the Cabin was directly off trail #7 DNR snowmobile trail. This is not true. It is 8 miles from said trail #7 down a plowed county road 440. If your plan is to snowmobile and not trailer from this location this cabin location is not it. Be sure to investigate actual GPS coordinates provided in Body of VRBO listing. Google Maps, Ways, Apple Maps does not even get you close to the Cabin.

Where do I even start! The house is perfect, the location is peaceful and close to everything we love in the UP. My son fished in the lake and caught his first pike and now has a harrowing story to tell his friends, it really was a battle! We kayaked and enjoyed the stillness only the UP has to offer. Several trips to the Midway store gave us awesome opportunities for ice cream and meeting so many wonderful people! We loved every minute here, the house is equipped with everything we need for great meals. Our dog even had an amazing time lounging on the patio. Can’t wait to come back for another stay!

A relaxing stay

We enjoyed our stay at the house. We had plenty of space to spread out. We enjoyed kayaking on the lake. The mattress topper in the main bedroom is a bit too soft. Also, the nearest grocery store is 30 min away so plan accordingly.

Peaceful Lake house

This property was nothing short of awesome! It’s very secluded and private. The owners were willing to work with us on early check in and were very responsive. It is about 45 mins to any kind of bigger town but was overall worth it!

We had a wonderful weekend getaway! The house was beautiful — very spacious, clean, and well-kept. It had everything we needed, and the peaceful surroundings made for a relaxing stay. The lake view was stunning, though just a heads-up for future guests: it’s not swimmable.As expected for the season, it was pretty buggy outside, so bring bug spray. The only downsides were a mildew smell in the basement and a sulfur-like smell with a yellow tint in the tap water, which we worked around by using bottled water.Overall, we had a great time and would definitely consider staying again!

Hey Rut! We’re honored to hear you had a great stay. A bit of that water smell is very normal for well water. :) As far as the basement, we only use it as a cleaning storage space and have the door locked to guests so I’m not sure what during your stay was being used down there.

Weekend Getaway

Such a nice lake cabin. Beautiful views, great outdoor space, and secluded. You may not have phone reception so make sure you get/have WiFi access and paper maps for backup as you may not have GPS.

Great setting

We stayed for 2 nights with another couple. The house is located in a heavily wooded area in the Hiawatha National Forest so it is quiet, secluded and on a beautiful small lake. It has a well stocked kitchen and a very comfortable living area and dining room that looks out over the lake. The couple we were with are already thinking about renting the house again.

Words can't really describe

Check-in was smooth and accurate according to instructions. The photos of the property are spot on. It was clean, comfortable, and up to date. The view and tranquility of the property are perfect. It's a very remote location, and the quiet makes this property a true getaway. We used the charcoal grill, kayaks, and the fire pit. We visited Pictured Rocks and Marquette during our stay. Both locations are a bit of a drive from the property, but the remote quiet was what we were searching for, and this house did not disappoint! Coffee on the deck in the morning is serene, and the view is spectacular. If I had to make one request for our next stay, it would be to upgrade the futon. It's probably ok for a small child to sleep on, but not for an adult. The other beds, king and queen, are very comfortable. All in all, a fantastic stay!!!

Quiet & quaint

The cottage was very cute and in a very relaxing setting. We liked the peaceful feel. It was 9mi further away from Munising than we expected from the VRBO map which shows the place closer to hwy 13. It was a 40min drive to town. We also think the basement bedrooms smelled very musty and saw some signs of mold on the art decor.

Had a great time at this cabin with our three boys. They loved the kayaks and caught lots of little fish. Super private and serene little spot and close to lots to do (Pictured Rocks, Kitch-iti-kipi, Lake Michigan/Superior). The lake is very muddy and weedy though, so not good for swimming. Plan on getting groceries well before you arrive, there are only smaller markets nearby. GPS may tell you to turn on dirt roads - don't do it! Those are for ATVs only. Also, download offline maps before you arrive. There is very minimal cell coverage. Communication from the host was very minimal, but we had everything we needed. Could have used more info about the property - where the laundry room is hidden (in the last bedroom), where to find coffee supplies (in the lazy Susan), where to find bedding for the click clack futon (in the first bedroom dresser). Once we got our bearings, we had an amazing time though!!
