Heron Pond Hideaway es una casa espaciosa y hermosa que ofrece muchas comodidades y un amplio dormitorio para 5 parejas o hasta 3 familias (máximo 12 personas)

Perfect Winter Getaway!

Our family of 13 had another wonderful stay at Heron Pond. The house has everything needed for big groups to spend quality time together without feeling on top of each other. Fantastic location minutes from Gore mountain. And the hosts are super accommodating, responsive and helpful whenever needed. We’re so so grateful for finding this house and it’s wonderful owners!

Winter stay

A well appointed and clean house with lots to do. We appreciated that the owner checked to ensure all was well. It was our second time at the house and would definitely recommend. We were two families - four adults and six kids and the house was plenty big enough.

Family vacation

Had a wonderful time! The house was very clean and had everything we needed for a week long stay. The bedrooms are lovely and the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you may need. The property is serene and the chairs on the back deck are a perfect place to sit and relax. Kids really enjoyed fishing in the pond and playing foosball. Donnelly Beach is just down the road - we rented canoes and paddleboards to explore Minerva Lake. Adirondack Railbikes and Beaverbrook Outfitters (we did the tubing trip) are conveniently located near the house and we enjoyed them both.

Great getaway

Amazing property and excellent communication from the owner! We would definitely recommend this property for families. The kids loved hanging out around (and in!) the pond and are already asking when we can go back. It was a great week well spent relaxing and having fun adventures with family.

Wonderful Stay

I go on a trip with the same group of friends 2x per year and this was by far our favorite place we've been. The house and property were amazing, host communicated super well and everything went very smoothly. We are grateful to have stayed here and highly recommend!

Great time in a great house.

Clean, well maintained house with great amenities. Lots to do in area, but lots to do at the house in case outdoor activities are cancelled due to weather. Our kids adored the tree house.

Thanks so much for a great weekend!

Our group of 12 - 6 adults and 6 kids - had more than enough room to hang out apres ski! Beautiful home, and thanks to our host Shannon for quick responses. Huge shout out to the caretaker Ronnie, who helped us out during a car emergency our first night there - very kind and incredibly appreciated (it was close to midnight, too)!!! Loved the house, we would come back in a heartbeat!

Second Time

I have a group of friends that have been going on a yearly ski trip for 7 years now. We stayed at Shannon's house last year and loved it so much we booked it again this year for our trip. The place is so clean and cozy, and Shannon and the caretaker at the property and so friendly, responsive and helpful.

Surpassed our expectations!

As a volunteer fire department, we utilized Heron Pond Hideaway (HPH) for our inaugural leadership summit. Shannon, the owner, communicated timely to our questions prior to making our reservation. Themed with an ADK decor, the entire facility was beautiful and very clean when we arrived. The bathrooms and bedrooms were comfortable for our crew. The kitchen is a chef’s dream and is stocked very well with multiple dishes, serving ware, glass ware, and appliances that allowed us to easily create our meals. While the formal dining room is beautiful, we elected to use the breakfast nook. The great room and family room served us well as meeting rooms for our work sessions. The hot tub, fire pit, pool table, foosball table and TREEHOUSE ….yes a treehouse, all added to our experience when we had some down time. Overall……Heron Pond Hideaway surpassed all our expectations! We highly recommend and look to possibly return in the future!!!

Great getaway

Three families stayed at the property (6 adults, 4 children). Plenty of room for all of us. It’s a cool house with good separation. The pool table and the big kitchen table got a lot of use! The kids loved fishing in the little pond behind the house. We didn’t get to use the treehouse much, but the kids thought it was really cool. The house is certainly remote in a quiet town. Lake George is about ~45 min away, not a bad drive. Restaurant options are limited within ~15 minutes, but there are good ones. Great place to stay to getaway and relax!

Anniversary Weekend

Beautiful location and home. Check in was easy, but 5:00 was too late to check in with hungry children! Plenty of space for us all to spread out. Nice outdoors with pond, basketball court and plenty of places to roam. Our biggest complaint was the sound of the caretakers' truck leaving the property between 5 and 6 each morning. Because we were not allowed to put out garbage after 6, or use the basketball court after 10 because it infringed on the caretakers it seemed to us that this was inconsiderate to the paying guests. It was especially inconvenient that we couldn't shower/bath the first night or until after 10:30 the next morning due to septic problems. We realize septic problems come unexpectedly, but could have been handle better. Hot water was not adequate for 11 guests.

Beautiful house and great communication

We had 11 adults/friends in our group for our yearly reunion. The house was very clean with everything we needed. The bedding and furnishings are high quality and comfortable, we had plenty of space, and everyone had plenty of space so we didn’t feel crowded at all. Even though the caretaker is close by, we didn't see him or feel watched over, which was nice. Shannon was awesome and quick to reply to any questions I had. The house is close to a public beach (about 5 min drive) with bathrooms, food, picnic areas, volleyball, etc. We also went tubing down the Hudson River through Beaver Brook Outfitters, which was about a 20-25 minute drive from the house and a lot of fun. The treehouse is impressive and we enjoyed sitting on both the front and back porches. The pool and foosball tables were great to have and we used them quite a bit. The kitchen was perfect for making meals together. I wouldn’t say the pond is a swimming pond, but we did enjoy seeing the turtle and frogs! Overall a great stay, great host, and I would highly recommend!

Perfect Setting for Summer

We had a great time in our stay! The house is so well set up for a large group with ample seating in all spaces. The kids loved the game room and took full advantage of the pool table and foosball table. We had preteens and teens that found plenty of things to keep them off screens for our stay. The lawns are huge for games like corn hole and frisbee. The Minerva beach was very convenient with a great little snack bar. A big storm knocked out power in the surrounding area for 24 hours while we were there but we didn’t even know thanks to the generator onsite. The host was responded quickly to every question we had. We had a great time and highly recommend this listing.

Celebrating 40 years

Our family of 14 had a wonderful stay at Heron Pond Hideaway. Our grandchildren enjoyed feeding the fish in the pond as well as “Snappy” the turtle of the pond. They enjoyed some fishing as well as a couple of nights of campfires, s’mores, and trivia. We railbiked and tubed just 15 minutes away and spent a day at the Great Escape just 45 minutes away. Our last two days we spent at the house playing indoor and outdoor games and enjoying the two large porches and comfortable chairs. It was a vacation full of lasting memories.

Spacious cabin in the woods

Spent four days here with friends and family while hiking in the area. The pictures look great, but the place looks even better in person. There are plenty of room to spread out amongst the multiple living areas and there is plenty of property to wander around outside. Despite staying here during a record heat wave with the outside temperature in the 90s, the house remained very pleasant in the 70s, despite not having AC. I would definitely return here again the next time I'm in the Adirondacks.

We had a wonderful stay with 6 adults and 4 children under 7 years old. The property was secluded but accessible to shroon lake and hiking trails. It was very clean and comfortable. The pond and treehouse were a huge hit with the kids. We already discussed staying again next year.

Winter wonderland

We stayed at the house for 5 nights with a large group of families and kids from toddlers to teenagers. The house is very beautiful, with lots of nice personal touches, but also very comfortable and spacious. We could all hang out together, but there were also lots of nice nooks and break out areas to keep everyone happy and occupied (pool table and hot tub were a hit, as was the pond, outside fire pit and tree house). Super close to Gore & well set up for ski gear storage. Super accessible but also very private - good place for kids to run around and feel like they are in the middle of wilderness. One of our favorite trips. Thank you Shannon!

Amazing stay

We went on a ski trip with our friends and family. The house is absolutely stunning and has everything you need. The outside view of the pond is beautiful and the tree house was a fun plus. Very close to gore mountain about 15-20 minutes. Every person that came loved the house with no complaints. Thank you so much!

This is a family-owned and run home. It is a fabulous place to bring children - a quiet location with a lot of wildlife to see. We have a large family and have many get-togethers here throughout the year. The kids love playing in the treehouse and swimming in the pond when they aren't catching frogs! In winter, we ski at nearby Gore Mountain, go sledding or step into cross-country skis and don headlamps for after-dinner expeditions through our woods.

We fell in love with this cabin and the land because it reminded us of our childhood when we played and pretended outdoors for hours on end. My favorite thing is the treehouse! I would have LOVED this as a kid! It also has space for everyone in our family to come for family reunions--and we have a big family! Our cabin is also completely private and secluded, but is still very centrally located. There is so much to do within a short drive. Even Lake George and Lake Placid make for great day trips.
