Relax in this beautifully updated mountain retreat just north of Durango. This home offers mountain views and an elevated rustic design. Located minutes from Purgatory Resort, and Electra and Haviland Lakes, it is the perfect year-round base for adventure and relaxation. Explore the San Juan Mountains in spring and summer, hit the slopes in winter, and soak in the fall colors. Whether you're seeking outdoor thrills or peaceful mountain living, this home offers it all.
The space:
Welcome to your modern mountain getaway in the heart of the San Juans—where comfort, style, and functionality come together for an unforgettable stay.
The cozy living room is the perfect place to relax, featuring a large sectional sofa, a pellet wood stove, and a big-screen TV with Roku for all your streaming needs. A portable Sonos speaker sets the mood with your favorite music, and a variety of board games are available for both kids and adults to enjoy.
The fully stocked kitchen has everything you need to cook and entertain: a refrigerator, induction stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher, drip coffee maker, blender, electric kettle, toaster, wine glasses. You'll also find plenty of pots, pans, and utensils to prepare meals with ease.
Upstairs, you'll find two bedrooms: one with a king bed and another with a Full/Twin bunk—ideal for kids or extra guests. These share a full bathroom off the hallway. A small loft space is also accessible via ladder for a cozy reading nook or play area.
Downstairs, the queen bedroom includes a small desk—perfect for remote work—and a private ensuite bathroom. All bedrooms offer ample pillows, closets with hangers, and drawers for convenient storage.
The recently renovated bathrooms feature tub/shower combos, and there's an additional half bath located just off the kitchen. In-floor radiant heating keeps the entire space warm and comfortable.
Step outside to take in the mountain air and views. The main deck features Polywood patio furniture and Adirondack chairs for lounging. A second, smaller deck off the kitchen includes a Blackstone Griddle for outdoor cooking.
Note: Pellet stove is currently not available during the summer season.
The house is just minutes from Purgatory Resort, making it the perfect basecamp for mountain adventures year-round. In the winter, hit the slopes for skiing and snowboarding, or enjoy sledding and a variety of dining options at the resort. When the snow melts, summer fun takes over with activities like the mountain coaster, alpine slide, and scenic chairlift rides.
Outdoor lovers will also appreciate being close to both Electra Lake and Haviland Lake. Pack a picnic, cast a line, or explore the water by paddleboard—rentals are available nearby. For details on day use and access, check the Electra Lake website before you go.
If hiking is on your list, the Elbert Creek Trailhead is just down the road near the Needles Country Store. This is the starting point for the beautiful Castle Rock trail. Parking is limited—look for a few designated spots at the far south end of the lot near the old cattle pens.

Scenic 45 minute drive over Coal Bank and Molas passes to historic Silverton, CO.
Guest access:
Guests will have full access to the entire living area of the home. Please note that the garage, along with a few cabinets and closets, are secured for owner use only. We appreciate your understanding.
Other things to note:
Due to winter weather conditions from November through the end of March, a 4WD or AWD vehicle with snow tires or chains is required to access the property.
You’ll have access to high-speed WiFi, free of charge.
There’s parking available right in front of the house with space for up to three vehicles.
Please note: access to the house is via a set of uneven stone steps, so watch your step.
For everyone’s safety, there are outdoor security cameras monitoring the driveway and the deck entrance.
Your reservation includes a small, non-refundable management fee that includes a Truvi Damage Protection policy for your stay.
