Relax on the oceanfront covered porch and take in the tranquil views at Tale of the Whale. Stroll mere steps along your private walkway to the beach! Spend quality family time together while dining alfresco on the sundeck. The well-equipped kitchen features a four-seat kitchen bar, while the adjacent dining table accommodates six. Watch TV in the living room or peruse the paperback library for your reading pleasure. There's also a collection of games and puzzles. You'll find two well-appointed bedrooms on each floor. Enjoy central heating and air conditioning as well as a private washer/dryer.

A Beautiful Beachfront Property

We loved the view and access of the beach. The house was well appointed and very clean up on check in.

The property was an older beach house which we expected but it could have definitely been cleaner. If you dont have pets don't stay here the carpet in the bedrooms downstairs is very dirty and stained and upstairs there is a hole in the carpet. The walkway to the beach needs a lot of the boards replaced. There were 3 different remotes and we finally had to log in to one of our personal streaming accounts. There definitely needs to be instructions.We had a good time and it met our basic needs especially being oceanfront, the location was great. We love Holden Beach but not sure if we would stay here again.

Beautiful views and access to the beachfront! The house has an open, comfortable layout. Our family has stayed here off and on for at least the past 20 years!

Cozy Beach House

Very comfortable home, steps away from shore! Home has everything you could need and not as expensive as other beachfront homes. Enjoyed every morning on the deck with a cup of coffee, watching the sun rise. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Cute little house with a close walk!

One of the simplest houses we’ve stayed in, but one of the best! It was perfect for our vacation. Lots of kids toys and I noticed pack and plays/toddler mattress in multiple closets. Truly a wonderful addition for people traveling with littles! Only thing I think that needs updated is new couches/chairs in the living room. Everything else was perfect. Thanks for having us!!

A great retreat!

We love the layout of the home. We had four adults, two little kids, and a dog, and the space was good for our group. We love the porch, with a solid table where we had breakfast every morning. The second floor has a large double window where you can see the beautiful ocean, and moonlight on the water! Many personal touches from the family that are charming and homey. The air works well, and indoor washer and dryer are very convenient! Appliances work well. We would definitely stay here again.

Ocean view. Hardly any outside noise can be heard when inside. Sofa and chairs need up grade. Would rent again.

My Tale of the Whale

We enjoyed out time at the house. Absolutely love the location on the beach. House is outdated but very cute. House appeared clean but after the first day there, which was only half a day, the bottom of my feet were black from the dirty floor. The beds were absolutely horrendous. So uncomfortable. My husband had such a bad time with them, that he slept on the floor for the two weeks we were there.

Outdated but functional

This property has so much potential, but it’s obvious the owners don’t want to invest in it. The furniture is way past its prime. The bathrooms and kitchen need major updates and the mattresses are about 10 years past their expiration dates. The property had a problem with ants while we were there. Vacasa called to let us know about the issue 20 minutes before check in time; they did offer to move us to another home but we chose to stay due to the homes location (framily was in the home next door). The location is wonderful and the porch was an excellent place to sit.

Great Beach House!

My family stayed at Tale of the Whale for a week and we had a great time. This home has all you need. Plenty of board games and books. No need to bring any. 4 bedrooms, 2 up and 2 down plenty of room! The kitchen is fully equipped. The view is amazing. A few suggestions and wishes. Would like to have had an outdoor grill. It doesn't have one. And the porch boards are rough, be careful where you step. Would be nice to extend the walkway out closer to the beach. Overall we loved the house and view. Hope to return again!

Take of the Whale August 2024

Great location. Outdoor shower Most of porch new (except plank walk to porch) it is old (weather is not kind). There was two nail heads that were raised (not hard to avoid) wood on last stairs does sag and a large person it could break). Gates are nice with kids on porch. Mattresses were HORRIBLE. Bring an air mattress for each person I recommend until those are replaced! One bed upstairs does have a replaced mattress. Space is great for larger family. Our suburban fit to park underneath one space. Tons of beach boards. AC was great in the house. Plenty of towels which is rare in a rental. No spices/salt/pepper so bring your own. Great price for ocean front, just PLEASE get new mattresses, it would make such a difference!
