October 2016 Stay

The Family Room furniture all needs replacing. Chair and both sofas are very uncomfortable and worn out. We would not return to 505 unless it is replaced. Also , some of the appliances should be replaced and updated.

Great location & easy access to bridge to get off Key

All went well The only issue was a parking place for a 2nd car when a family member came to visit. Office lady wasn’t very helpful. The Beach attendant ended up helping me more. Limited parking was due to maintenance people which shouldn’t have been my problem. Everything else was great.

Good Morning Susan: Thank you for your review, unfortunately, we only guarantee one parking space for each of our 58 units. Visitor parking is on a first come first serve basis and is limited, due to the size of our property grounds. My apologies we did not have additional spaces during your stay. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It was ok. Our rental needs a facelift. The entire property is aged. The $20.00 fee for guests is abominable. When you have four adults staying in the same condo and they have to drive separately it is ridiculous. It is also ridiculous for friends who live in the area have to pay $20.00 for a couple of hours visit.

Best place on earth

Front desk, Justin and the lady, sorry I didn't catch her name, were so friendly and provided great information making the trip even better. We will for sure be back next yr. If the recliner wasn't so difficult to operate, I would have given 5 stars on the furniture. Minor issue but overall great unit. Carpet might be nearing it's end. But really, I'm not complaining. I'm sure it sees alot of traffic and is a challenge to maintain.

Good for last minute booking despite a hiccup or two

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We booked very last minute to extend our stay after staying at a different condominium. The unit was perfectly fine in regards to view and you really can’t beat the location-right on the beach. We enjoy the closeness to the beach, a pool, and even the tennis court. Across the street are many restaurants, bars, shops, ice cream shops, etc. The location couldn’t be any better. The rules on the beach are a bit ridiculous though, especially when traveling with a 10 month old and being told you can’t put up a baby tent, you have to set your chairs in a very specific place (someone has to tell you where on the beach you can set your chairs), you can only get 2 chairs per your unit, etc. The beach rules are absurd and really turned us off for the first few days, especially having 4 people in the unit with only 2 chairs and having a 3 year old and 10 month old and not being able to put up a baby tent for the young kids. The beach rules are really the biggest reason we would question returning, other than that the location was great and units are perfect size. Also, having a washer and dryer is wonderful.

Bed bugs!

Even if we hadn’t had bed bugs this place is outdated and dirty but worst of all the front desk staff needs a lessen in hospitality namely, Allison. Her attitude is absolutely terrible.

It was unfortunate that all the issues you had including bed bugs, that is not the norm in the 40 plus years we have been in business we have only had two cases of bed bugs with yours being one of them. We take preventative measures so this does not happen, however, in this case it failed. Our week in paradise

We had a great time but we did have a few minor issues. Door wall door handle was broken, still usable but should have been noted before we got there. Minimal towels in kitchen but there was a washer and dryer. Coffee pot was a old cheaper model, the button that shuts off the coffee if you pull it out before it's done fell off. The unit was clean but is definitely due for some updating. The beach and location make up for the slight shortcomings we found. Front desk folks were great and security was visible so we felt safe. Overall we had a great time and would do it again in a minute !!

You can purchase and umbrella for 15.00 per day it comes with 2 white chairs. Information ahead is the key to not upsetting your guest. Just a thought.

House of Sun 505

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The last 3 condos we have rented (at other places) have had more items that were shared with us, like beach towels for example. There was only ONE beach towel in the condo. When I asked the front desk about it, they said they do not require their owners to have a certain number of beach towels. Ok this is a beach place but if I have to buy some I will and then they can keep them in there for other users. Pay it forward right? Nope the front desk said they would be discarded after we left.Also, the entry doors to condos are inside with carpeted hallways and it feels old. I was allergic. It seemed our whole family was. When the air conditioning unit came on, it smelled mildewy. Thankfully we were able to open windows.However we loved the rooftop, the beach area is beautiful with some palm trees for shade. Nice pool, nice location within walking distance to restaurants and shops. We had a good time and it was a decent price, thank you.

House of the Sun is one of the best spots on Siesta Key, in our opinion. I was finally able to rent a unit with my husband this year and hope we will also be able to return next year. This unit was a little more dated than others, but all are extremely clean and comfortable. The front desk staff is always excellent! I hate to recommend "House" as the place to stay because I don't want all the units rented before I have a chance to reserve my week or two, but I would definitely recommend it to everyone.

Even the hurricane that swept through couldn't ruin our stay although the constant beeping from the construction crew next to our building made sleeping in difficult.

We have enjoyed staying in 505GS for most of those years but it does need some updating. The recliner doesn’t work properly, the carpets need to be replaced, the chair in the master bedroom needs to be replaced, and we don’t know why they have turned the huge armoire so we can’t watch TV anymore.
