LOCATION

Casa Calico is located in Tamarindo in a quiet residential neighborhood 300 meters walking to the beach, which is the perfect place for your family vacation or a surf trip. Tamarindo is a vibrant beach town with lots of international flavors, plenty of activities and entertainment, and warm water for twelve months of the year. The homeowner lives in a private apartment below the casita with its own separate entrance. You won't even know he's there!

HOLIDAYS

Holidays are exciting, but before you book, please check your dates and only select one of the following when making your holiday reservation. Please contact a reservation agent before booking if your dates are different than the following to find a way to accommodate you. Our holiday dates for 2026 & 2027 are:

EASTER WEEK AND THANKSGIVING
• Thanksgiving (November 23 - November 30, 2026/2027)
• Easter Week 2026 (March 29 - April 5, 2026)
• Easter Week 2027 (March 21 - March, 2027)

CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS
For any reservations arriving between December 19th 2026 to January 3rd 2027, we have a 7 to 10-night minimum requirement. Specific periods may be required. Please contact us before making an online booking during this period.

Nice property convenient location

Clean, modern, well equipped home. Enjoyed cooking there, walking to beach and shops. Private pool was great.

This was a perfect accommodation for our family. We loved it. Very clean and quite, convinulantly located. Everything was in walking distance that we did. And when we wanted to go some where farther we just ordered an uber. Beds were very comfortable.and the house was very clean . We would stay again. The maintanance gentleman were very helpful and full of good information. Gilbert was awesome!!The only thing i didnt like is there is a QR code once you get to the house and it explains all the details for appliance, safe checking out , pool ect. I would just prefer an acually book that i can read through not 50 tabs on a site.Thank you for a wonderful fisrt stay in Tamarindo , Costa Rica. You have a beautiful country. And wonderful people. Pura Vida.

Great place and great location

The place was comfortable and convenient. Very easy to get to places as it was yards from the beach. Nice plunge pool. Felt secure. A few things needed to be addressed but overall great.

Great house for family close to Tamarindo beach

Only a block from the beach, this house works well for a family or multiple couples. Super easy check-in. Property manager/concierge was very responsive to inquiries. Close to restaurants, coffee shops and clubs. Nice pool area for cooling off. Easily store surf boards.

Casa Calico Stay

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Calico! The house was perfect for our family of 5 with plenty of additional space to spare. We loved the private courtyard and pool. We were in walking distance to the beach, shops, and restaurants. The property concierge was wonderful to arrange excursions and help with transportation and recommendations. They were very responsive to any needs we had. I would 100% stay here again!

This location held 2 families of 4 really well. The location was great, concierge great. We lost power once and lost water once but the property managers were quick to address to problem. There was supposed to be a maid service that came once on our trip, and they never did, But it the scheme of things that’s a small issue. Overall I would definitely return to this property

Outstanding experience

Outstanding service from Cris who works with the property company- she was so helpful booking activities and answering our questions. The property was beautiful and having the pool at night and the beach so close during the day was perfect. The house was clean and comfortable. Tamarindo has a small night life that you can hear a few nights a week but we all slept soundly. We loved walking around town (sidewalks are limited at times) and still I would suggest getting a golf cart to grab lunch on a hot day. Of all the vacation houses we’ve tried this one was my favorite. We loved the security, the shaded patio during the day, good AC, and much more. We hope to come back!

Fantastic Location. Walking distance to the beach & town.

Great property & location. Had an issue with an AC unit and the repair people immediately responded. Had an issue with the Dryer and was not repaired & SB replaced. We were unable to use. Can’t hang cloths to dry outside due to the dust. Kitchen not stocked with basic items to cook, ie condiments, spices, aluminum foil/saran wrap, etc. it would have been too expensive to stock the kitchen, so we didn’t cook. Not what we expected for a two week stay.

Perfect location for beach access and surfing!

This is one of three villas located together and have been perfect for our previous trips for several reasons: it's less than a 5 minute walk to the beach, it's on a quieter end of town, and there's always been a secure area for our rental cars. Our 2 prior trips we stayed at the adjoining villa, but this property was available for our dates, so we didn't hesitate to book, knowing the gem we we're getting. Upon arrival, we were surprised to learn that the gated garage where we had planned to park our cars had been turned into a studio for the owner. We were also surprised that the owner was on the property, living below the detached room. We'd met the owner the year before and he's a lovely gentlemen, but we had assigned teenage boys the detached room for noise control in the main house. Knowing we would have to be mindful of the owner below made us uncomfortable. Also, having to park our cars on the street (after running into a tourist in Monteverde who had just had his car broken into and damaged) was very disappointing and is not disclosed on VRBO, which I pointed out to the property manager within 15 minutes of arrival. While we had to re-adjust our expectations, it didn't prevent us from enjoying the property. It was very clean, had a majority of the cookware we needed for meals, a/c units that were so good we actually turned them off in the main house for the majority of the day, and better wi-fi than we've had in the past. The pool was well maintained and a great refresher after a long day surfing. Given our surprises, I would still return to this property because it's so well-maintained and the location can't be beat!
