Great location

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We love this location of this rental on Jekyll island. The ocean views and proximity to driftwood beach is ideal. The condo is always clean when we arrive. We are concerned about all the black mold that increased on the bathroom walls due to the ineffectiveness of the bathroom fan. The sink faucet was also glued back together and was ugly. The furniture is old and we ended up putting 5 pillows under the middle cushions of the couch to make the seating level so we could use it.

View is picture perfect. We loved waking up to the beautiful view of the sunrise. It has very close access to the beach (Beach is your back yard). Condo could use a refresh, but was clean and just the right size for our small family. Condo is in a great location, walking distance to Driftwood Beach. We will be back!

Not as expected

The listing for this property stated newly renovated. That statement is way off. The unit needed a thorough cleaning. Also needed all new furniture. The couch was very uncomfortable as you sank into the bottom of the cushions and needed a cleaning the recliners were dirty. The beds in both bedrooms very squeaky and uncomfortable. All of the furnishings were very well used and beyond the point of being donated to a good cause. The curtains in the master bedroom had either dirt or mold on them. The 1970s bathroom shower head was extremely corroded The unit also had an unpleasant odor. This unit would not be a good place to stay with small children. We are two older adults that will not be staying at Villas by the sea. We worked with Jekyll island realty to rent this unit. Overall they were easy to rent with. When we decided to leave two nights early due to the uncleanliness of the unit they didn’t have much to say. I recommend they needed to go to the unit to see how bad it was. They told me they can’t make owners remodel. Obviously they knew there were issues. Wish we had been warned prior to renting.

Over all experience was ok because of location and friendly staff. For the price of the room a more comfortable bed in the master bedroom should be provided. Some quality sleep is necessary so that you don’t feel groggy and achy during your stay. We had to request cots which consisted of plastic coated foam, but were still more comfortable than the bed. As stated in other reviews the shower curtain needs to be replaced. Other than that the location is very nice, convenient with walking distance to the pool, beach, and driftwood beach. Beautiful ocean view.

One of plastic seats on the porch was cracked and pinched clothes. Bathroom lights were very dim and should be placed with higher watt bulbs. Bed was squeaky. Not many kitchen supplies. Was only given 2 wash clothes.

Nice stay on the water

The cottage and resort are lovely. The salt water pool is nice and the staff is friendly. The cottage itself could use a refresh and a deep cleaning. Lovely views. Be sure to bring your own food as finding dining options on the Island can be challenging. Many restaurant do not stay open as late as the operating hours say online or they don't open at all due to lack of staff showing up on any particular day. Overall it was a decent stay and we were all comfortable enough for a short vacation.

Peaceful Perfection

Great location. Kids had a blast when tide was low on beach. Even though it was spring break it was still not hectic or overcrowded. Construction was actually quiet and only noticeable with parking area. We loved it and would love to come back!

Reviewer Comments: The location was wonderful and the ability to sit outside either downstairs or upstairs and look out at the sea was just what I wanted.The property was clean but the fixtures a little tired and outdated.I appreciated how well equipped the kitchen was and being provided with a scouring sponge and paper towels etc. Lots of nice towels but the bedding wasn't that nice.Late check in could be improved. I was told the keys would be left with the villa office and when they weren't and no one answered the emergency number I panicked. But after a few rings someone picked up and explained there was was key lock at the villa. Better if this had been explained along with the code before my arrival.On the other hand they were understanding when I forgot to return the keys to the office and had to mail them back. Leaving them in the lock box would have been a nice option for absent minded people like me.

Condo issues and check in issues

If the following issues (minor) are fixed, it is a great location, quiet and restful. Easy access to activities, restaurant's and other isles. No. 1 issue - No down stairs bathroom - difficult for handicap person - NOT fixable - just need to be aware when renting. 1. Check in was terrible, as it was a holiday and difficult to call someone for help with lockbox. Instructions from reality company were incomplete. Fixable 2. Needs the carpet in the living room fixed - tripping hazard - fixable 3. Needs new pillows and only blanket was old and full of holes - fixable 4. TV remotes did not work and had to get maintenance to help - fixable - give instructions on how to access and make sure the remotes work. 5. No fly screen on downstairs patio door. Fixable. .

Would no stay at the condo again

The condo was dated, the shower was awful as the shower head was old and hardly any water pressure. Limited beach access and we didn’t have beach chairs. The queen size sheets barely fit the bed and kept coming off as you slept. Would not stay at the location again.
