We enjoyed the time at the beach but there were challenges
When I was looking at the website for a place for my sister and I to get away from the city for a birthday weekend there were a few things that I looked for specifically. For a 2 bedroom house with close proximity to the beach that had TV's in the bedrooms and a good cleaning rating. After walking in and choosing our bedrooms, I noticed black mold all around the air condition vents, especially the ones in the living Room. It was concerning but I did not make an issue of it. We went on about our evening and when I went to bed I quickly realized that the TV in my bedroom did not get all of the channels listed on the ammenities, but only a single channel that gave instruction on using car parts. So I turned off the provided TV and used my laptop instead to stream Netflix. After crawling into bed I started sneezing and itching . I Got up to check the sheets and realized that little black hairs were all over the sheets pillowcases and comforter. I am allergic to dog and cat dander. I had to strip all the linens off the bed and wash them before using them. The next morning I asked my sister about her linens and they were covered in animal hair as well. We had to wash all of her bed linens. When I reported this to the homeowner via email he did not respond or comment but I did get a call from the cleaning service who offered to bring us other sheets. We opted to keep the sheets that we had since we had already gone through the process of washing them to ensure they were clean. I also informed the home owner of the black mold around the vents and that the TV in one bedroom was not working properly. He offered to call Comcast to fix the tv service but stated that I would need to be there when they came out so I would need to call him the next day at a specific time to talk with him and comcast about it. I informed him that 10am would be good. The next morning I called him at 10:00 a.m. ,10:15am and at 10:30 and got no answer from him so we opted not to do this as we had a busy week planned. He did call me back at 2 that day saying he was busy earlier. I later sent an email to the homeowner regarding all of these issues and informed him I definitely wanted to have my cleaning deposit back and anything else that he felt was reasonable compensation for what we dealt with. What I received was my cleaning deposit but no other Acknowledgment or compensation for any of the isseus. In summary I would definitely not rent from him again.
