The Prickly Pear sits on top of a hill with beautiful views of the hill country from a spacious front porch with rockers. This stunning 4, plus loft with 2 twins and pull out trundles , newly renovated Texas rock home offers privacy for large groups and a guest house that will accommodate 4-5 people with its own kitchen. There is an outdoor kitchen with a tv, bar, built in grill and fridge for evening cookouts. Under party lights that sweep over to a large oak tree, there is a gas operated rock fire ring to enjoy on cold nights. For those who like a little competition, a horseshoe pit is on one side of the fully enclosed backyard.
Inside the main house of hardwoods and large shutters,on one side down a hall, are two large bedrooms, each with queen beds and a jack and jill bath between. There is a shower and one vessel sink. On the other side of the hallway is the utility room, is an enormous master bedroom with two queen beds, a 42” high def. tv, a gorgeous bath with jacuzzi tub, separate shower and double sinks.
As you go down the hall from the master, you enter a grand den with a rock fireplace overlooking the backyard. There are numerous sofas and recliners/ chairs with ottomans and a 55” wall mount tv.
Rock pillars separate this area from the lovely granite and stainless steel kitchen, completely outfitted for all your cooking needs. There is a breakfast bar with stools and a breakfast room table that will seat six.
For formal dining, there is also a walnut table and chair set for six in the open dining area nearby and overlooking the front porch.
Upstairs is a loft that is virtually closed to the downstairs other than the opening at top of stairs. This holds two twins that each have a trundle bed which pulls out to accommodate 4 people. There is child’s table/chair set and shelves with puzzles, books, games and blocks for young ones.
Going past this area is a door leading to a secondary upstairs master with a large bathroom attached. There is also a 43” tv wall mounted and a twin size daybed. In the double closets, there is a single bed that can also be put together easily with a box spring and foam topper, should you need an extra .
Downstairs, in addition to these three bathrooms, are two half baths, and a big utility room and plenty of space to fold laundry should you need to wish to do the wash.
Going past the kitchen and breakfast room down the hall is our two car garage which has been converted to a gameroom. It is sheetrocked and painted and has a portable ac to slightly cool it off during summer months. In the gameroom, you will find a table for four with swivel chairs to play cards or games. There is a ping pong table, foosball and table hockey. There is a bocce ball set, badminton /volleyball for the yard, crochet set, bowling for younger children and bean bag toss set. On the shelves, are some cards and games. There is a bicycle for those who can handle the hill! There are some floats and funoodles to have for the river to enjoy, as well! Just return unpunctured, please.
We have ample parking around the horseshoe drive and next to the garage.
In the front yard, we have a hammock under our mature and shady oaks and a swing for kids to play on. There is also a swing for anyone who wants to just take in the views! Enjoy your favorite beverage on the front porch in the evenings watching the deer graze. We have seen entire families with fawns and they are amazingly tame!
The back porch is perfect for breakfast in the mornings, and there is always a breeze being up on the hill.
Did we mention, for an extra nightly fee, the Saguaro Shuteye guest cottage, also for rent, for overflow of guests?
This jewel is 700 sf with a full kitchen, den with tv and pullout sleeper sofa. There is a queen bedroom and full bath with shower/tub combination next to it. Up the stairs, you will find a new queen platform bed, as well. Four to five maximum occupancy for this cottage. Enjoy overlooking the backyard from the front porch rockers!
If you are a golfer, we own the cleared lot next door. It is a great place to practice your drive or just putt around! Aim away from houses, please!
Although this is not a party home nor a venue for weddings, we do have plenty of room to host multiple guests who might be attending a hill country event. Our proximity to Gruene (10 min.) and Canyon Lake make it the perfect spot to unwind from a day on the river, shopping or boating. Take a glass of wine or beer from the number wineries and breweries in the area out to the patio or front porch to finish off the day and take in the views! No tubers going past our backyard to disturb your bit of hill country tranquility!

No teenagers are allowed to occupy the cottage without adult accompaniment. No smoking is ever allowed in the house or cottage. Nor pets, no matter how small!
