Great location and great for a large group. The kitchen was well-stocked, pool table was a nice addition, and having a grocery store within walking distance was such a convenience!

Spacious, clean and beautiful property with many thoughtful touches. We appreciated the pool table, the turntable and classic vinyl, and all the labels on the cabinets and drawers, which helped us find things and put them back where they belonged. Excellent in-town location. Hosts were very responsive and helpful when we had a minor issue.

This is the second time we have stayed at Petunia Cottage and we were thrilled both times. We love having our family reunion there and the cottage us expertly appointed with everything you could need to make a large group of various ages comfortable. Cheri made ever aspect of our reservation, check-in, check-out seemless. Can’t wait for our next reunion!

House and location are terrific …if you need ice stop at Hannafords on way to house…only quirk was 5pm check in with a 9am check out

Excellent Location and House

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Petunia Cottage! The house had so much room and was well equipped to accommodate our large group. The location was ideal, an easy walk anywhere in town and so close to Acadia. We would highly recommend!

Bar Harbor 2024

Great location. Lots of room to spread out and great access to everything. Two washers/dryers were a bonus for our large group. Very enjoyable experience.

Wonderful second stay at Petunia Cottage!

This was our second stay at Petunia Cottage, and it was just as wonderful as the first! Fantastic old house with character and a location that can't be beat. Best part might be the large porch with many rocking chairs ... where we started and ended every day! We're already looking forward to our next visit!

The perfect location!Home away from home! The coolest cottage with space for everyone. We felt like we were living back in the day!!Walking to Bar Island at low tide, rocking on the front porch and eating breakfast at Jordan’s just around the corner…that’s a perfect week to us. Did I mention the best stocked Vrbo home we have ever rented!Grocery next to Jordan’s restaurant was a plus. We only moved our car to hike and bike (free parking in the driveway). Thank you for sharing your home with us. We really loved staying here.

We had an amazing stay at Petunia Cottage. The house accommodated our group of 14 very well. Good bed set up and the living and dining spaces are huge. Location was perfect - short walk to everything in town and just a block to the grocery store. Everyone loved being so close to the Bar Island trail - the kids went down to explore every day. And it was about a mile bike ride to get to the carriage trails (nice to have a garage to store bikes and not worrying about locking up too). Would love to come back!!

Wonderful

This large cottage is in an ideal location in Bar Harbor. Park your car in the driveway and walk to anywhere downtown. Easy and close access to Acadia also. Wonderful communication, Cheri was quick to respond to a minor problem we had.

Great stay

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Petunia Cottage! The cottage is the perfect location to walk to downtown Bar Harbor or to access bar island with a nice view of the island from the porch. We had our large family there (14 people) and it still felt very spacious and quiet. Communication with the hosts was superb even in getting recommendations in advance for the stay. They have a caretaker for the home (Charlie) who is very nice and available if any issues arise. The house has lots of charm with modern updates which makes it perfect for larger families. I would definitely recommend this home to families coming to the area.

My family's stay at the Petunia Cottage was great. The location could not have been better. Just across West Street was the land bridge to Bar Island (where we took our first hike) and the children loved building rock towers and skipping stones. It was a short and easy walk to good restaurants, shops, the Village Green to catch the Island Shuttle, park on the water and the shore path. And only a 10 minute drive to the Hulls Cove Visitor Center in Acadia NP. The spacious home was well furnished, had comfy beds, the most well stocked kitchen I have ever seen with every appliance and a huge island with seating. We enjoyed the pool table and sitting on the lovely front porch watching the passersby. The two washers and dryers were well used! Cheri was very responsive from booking to our arrival and no communication was needed during our stay. She provided a great tip regarding Hannaford's grocery, (also walkable from the house) where you can order lobsters to cook yourself, which we did! Just one FYI, the sun rises very early in the summer and the sky is light at 3:30am. In some of the bedrooms the beautiful small historic windows do not have shades. Bring a sleep mask! The light did not affect the children's sleep at all. This was the perfect home for our anniversary family trip!

The house was as beautiful and convenient as others have mentioned. Ours was a family reunion ages 75yr to 3yrs. We cooked both indoors and out on the grill. Ample outdoor picnic table and porch table for everyone. All the rooms are comfortable and nicely furnished. The kids loved the “kid room” with 3 beds. There were also plenty of quiet spaces for work or just napping.Some favorites: renting e-bikes and riding on the carriage trails, hiking particularly Cadillac & Beehive. Beautiful kid friendly beach at Echo Lake, Reel Pizza movie theatre.
