Great Vacation Rental

Cozy home with a great pool and easy walk to the beach!

We love staying here with our 2 kids and dogs! The house is sampled with only 2 bedrooms and one bath but the owner has done a good making the best of the space. Super easy walk to the beach. We love the backyard space and the front porch! We will definitely stay here again!!!

AMAZING get away.

We loved the location to the beach and in walking distance to main street. Really enjoyed the pool and backyard after a long day at the beach. Very nice inside and has everything you need. We definitely will be back to visit again.

Fantastic House!

Vacation perfection

I loved everything about this place. It was beautifully decorated, comfy with everything you could need. I loved the front porch swing and the huge shower but most of all, I loved the backyard. We were mere steps from the beach but rarely made it because of the perfect pool and yard. Thank you for a magical weekend!

Great place for all the family!

We adore The Sea Urchin! Location was perfect and having the option of the beach or a pool was fantastic. We took our spring break on Folly beach so that we could visit our freshman at CofC. Everyone - including our pups - had a great time! We will be back for sure!

Sea Urchin Veterans

This is our third time to Folly and second time staying at sea urchin. We have already booked for next summer. The house is great, feels like home, and in a great spot close to the beach and just close enough to center street. The owners and Vacasa are very communicative and helpful couldn’t feel better about our stay.

The O group experience

This was our second year at Sea Urchin and this house is still fantastic for our little family! The pool and backyard was pretty large for the size of the house and love the walking distance to the beach. Our daughter had a blast at the pool. We went for July 4th week and I will say it’s so much better to have a home with a pool this size than dealing with the large crowd of people at the beach. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here…you will not be disappointed! The house may be small but the backyard and pool is great!

Perfect Beach Cottage

We had a wonderful week at the Sea Urchin! It is so clean and comfortable and beautifully decorated. The backyard is a paradise and we felt very safe having our dog there with the fenced in yard and enclosed porch. We so loved the pool and the hot tub and the proximity to the beach (and town)! We will definitely be back!

Beautiful Backyard

The pool and backyard really makes the Sea Urchin a 5 star getaway! The house is on the small side but it was just two of us and our pups so it worked out perfect for us. House was clean and nicely decorated. and was just a 2 minute walk to the beach.

Vacation Vibes

One of the best experiences we’ve had with a rental house! Couldn’t be cleaner which is our number 1! The description and pics are exactly the same in person! The backyard is an oasis! The pool and hot tub were amazing!! We spent almost all day everyday out there between meals and some beach play with our pup. It’s very dog friendly house and town. Even has clean up station in the backyard. The social media team (instagram) for the sea urchin is also fabulous. Couldn’t be more helpful and sweet! Gave great suggestions for the area and any info we could possibly need on the house/yard/property itself! I would 10000% recommend this property and would return myself! We had a great time! Our fur baby says thanks for having him and making him feel spoiled and special too!!!

Perfection

Finally the perfect size a house for me, my hubby and pup. We struggle to find a home that’s pet friendly and has a fenced in backyard with 3+ bedrooms we won’t use. This beautiful home has everything we need and more. The screened in porch is a great place to read in the shade and the pool was perfect for sunning and cooling off without the hassle of sand or beach chairs. We can’t wait to go back!

Thanksgiving get away

The property was clean and perfect for our dogs the entire backyard is fenced in which makes it very easy to let the dogs run around without worry ! Footsteps away from a very nice beach and the home is small but cozy with everything you need . I would warn though the local restaurants are not stellar . Food was a tiny issue if you don’t love mediocre food . We did drive a short 20 minute drive to downtown Charleston to get good food and that was perfect for our family ! Rita’s restaurant which is owned by Halls is in town and that’s about the best food and service you will get ! All and all a great rental and pool and hot tub was a amazing treat ! Definitely would book again !

Great house with awesome back yard

This is the perfect house for a couple or a small family. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the listing said there was a heated pool, and apparently that is no longer an option - this basically makes the pool unusable after summer which was disappointing. As of this writing it still says there is pool heat. Other than that though the house is awesome.

Unhappy in Folly.

I was disappointed in the state of the house. I was told that the back yard was fenced in completely. There was a 4 foot tall picket fence that was barely standing. Bungee cords were holding it together in one corner. The floors were gritty with sand and dust when we arrived. There is a weak place in the floor in front of the bathroom door. The door to the second bedroom would not shut. We lost power during a storm and could not even open the windows. They were all painted shut and had no screens. When I reported this to the management company I was told to open the doors. There were no screen doors so this was not an option either. We travel with 2 dogs. I would not recommend this house to anyone with pets or small children. The beach there is lovely and the only reason we stayed the whole week.

Cozy beach house great for small family (just need to fix hot tub)

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sea Urchin. It was great for a small family of four plus a small dog. Quick walk to the beach and neighborhood park. The backyard was a perfect spot for the family to hang out. That all being said, there are two main reasons that I took off two stars. The hot tub was not hot when we got there and after several hours of trying to get it to work and text exchanges with the company I had to reset the breaker panel every time we wanted to heat the hot tub up. And it was not always clear if it was heating up. We would have to start the process an hour or two before we wanted to get in and sometimes wouldn’t know if it was actually heating up (there are no indicators of the heat being on so you’re basically doing trial and error). This is a big deal when the main purpose you select this property (and pay the premium price) is due to the hot tub amenity. Second, the door knob on the bathroom was broken (kept falling off) and my 5 year actually old got stuck in there (door handle fell completely off). Luckily I had pliers in my car and was able to open the door without the knob. Fix these issues and the property becomes 5 stars.

The WIFI & Cable Challenged Location

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: 's a 2.5. WiFi & Cable amenities weren't available the entire stay. WiFi service wasn't provide to the management co. (MC) folks by the owner. MC tried to get a hold of owner for a couple of days w/out success. MC entered the property when we were out at a wedding. It resolved and then found out that the cable service comes w/child protections...that's all well and good but no access code was provide. Cable service restricted us from watching a show on PBS. Recycling bin outside but not inside. Noticed termite damage on the front porch by the side door. Shade umbrella doesn't stand up and had to be propped against the back railing. MC staff indicated that we would compensate us for the WiFi issue, however, they've not reached out to offer anything. (yet). Otherwise nicely decorated and clean.

Very Pleasant Stay

This little house is quite cute, cozy, and clean. My husband and I arrived Thursday and left Sunday. Here are the things that we enjoyed: 1. The location is VERY convenient to the beach access. Just walk a few yards to the corner and then head to the walkway to the beach. It took just a couple of minutes to get there. 2. The house was very clean and nicely furnished. The only meal that we cooked was scrambled eggs one morning (there are too many wonderful places to eat in Folly!). We had everything we needed for that. I could see that if you wanted to cook a full meal, you would probably have everything that you need for that as well. 3. There are some wonderful modern renovations in the house. The bathroom is very modern and pleasant, though the water pressure is just about the same as standing in the rain. 4. The outdoor furniture is comfortable, especially on the screened porch. 5. If you are in good shape, you can easily walk to the center of Folly. We took Uber several times because of the heat during the day, but it was very pleasant and safe walking at night. 6. There are two ceiling fans in the main living area and kitchen which kept the temperature nice and cool. There are ceiling fans in both bedrooms as well. 7. It was dog-friendly. 8. There were more than enough towels of good quality. 9. There are some games and puzzles there which would make for a good way to pass time on a rainy day. 10. The internet service was very good and easy to connect to the wifi. Some suggestions we would make for improvement: 1. As one other reviewer stated, the sheets on the beds are very rough and scratchy. I had brought a soft blanket, so I put it down over the sheets. Spending a little on some better quality sheets would be much appreciated by future travelers, I'm sure. 2. The bed in the master bedroom is quite small and VERY noisy. It squeaks with every movement and when a sleeper rolls over. The mattress sags in toward the middle, which resulted in the two of us migrating toward the middle of the bed during the night. 3. The sofa is more like a futon. For two of us, it was fine, but with kids or two more adults, it would mean that some of the travelers would have to sit at the kitchen table, which would make it difficult to see the TV. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would recommend this lovely house for a pleasant and restful stay.
