3 Bedroom, 2 bath cottage right on Main Street in the Village of Walloon Lake! The house is located across from Hotel Walloon and Walloon Watershed, 300 yards down the sidewalk from the beach on Walloon Lake and the village park and only 200 yards from the Barrel Back restaurant and dockside bar.

We've stayed in this house before, and it was just as wonderful this time as last time. Easy to get to, fantastic amenities, lots of space. Our whole family enjoyed spending time there.

This is our second time staying at The Red Cottage. It’s always very clean, comfortable, and in an excellent location to the Walloon downtown area. The host was very accommodating when we messed up our reservation. Could not ask for a better experience!

Perfect for our family!

Our experience was great! We’ve been vacationing in the area for over a decade and needed space for our family, which now includes significant others. The house is well kept and offers a good amount of space. Easy to get to wonderful location, and nice amenities. Will stay again!

Family ski

Great location, but could not park in desinated area due to snow bank across it was not plowed. Inside clean, big and roomy. Great vaction.

Clean, comfortable and great location for day trips

We chose this location so we could take day trips to explore Michigan. The house was very clean, comfortable and relaxing. We texted the owner with a question and he answered right away. There is a small grocery store and restaurant a short walk away which was a great convenience.

The red cottage is exactly as advertised, and even more. Matt is extremely easy to communicate with should there be any questions or concerns, and that’s a big deal. The cottage was much more comfortable than we even anticipated, and we agree with those who have mentioned that the kitchen is very well stocked. And my husband (who does the cooking) was very pleasantly surprised and happy about that! Oh – and the location is absolutely wonderful!

Great red cottage!

Definitely enjoyed our week in Walloon. The property was clean and one of the best stocked kitchens I’ve ever rented. And the knives were the best! I love to cook so knives are important.

Perfect stay

The house was super clean, dog friendly, and had plenty of space for our family to spread out. It was a great location between Boyne Mountain and Nubs Nob. We had everything we needed to cook & eat and were well stocked with paper goods and bath towels & bedding. The property owner was very responsive up front and to follow up after check out. Perfect little rental for the weekend. We would certainly recommend and definitely stay again!

Ski weekend

The rental was very clean and easy to locate. Matt was very responsive and helpful. Only drawback was the heating situation a little chilly at times.

Thank you for letting me know about the heater. It wasn’t doing its job! My cleaning crew followed up and put the system through its paces unsuccessfully. I called out a repair person to get things fixed by the time the next folks arrive. Update: there was a broken hot water pipe to the radiator under the house. The plumber crawled under and fixed it. Thanks Randy!

Clean and comfortable

Only two areas of concern: Master bath shower needs a new shower head. In the book of directions to guests was a book with disturbing remarks. A person’s name and prostitute, other people with inappropriate details.

Thanks for the heads up. We will replace the shower head and figure out what happened to the instruction book and get that fixed. Follow-up: The notebook that you found was left by a previous guest, a law enforcement officer. They misplaced it and the cleaning team missed it. We fixed the shower head, thanks again for the notice.

Great Place with lots of room

This is great home with lots of room. We brought our 10 month old Bernese Mountain Dog who also would give the property 5 paws ;) We have stayed many times in this area over the years for a long weekends (although I usually book through that other vacation rental site, lol) and this has been the best place so far. The home is located on the main road through Walloon Lake right next to the hotel/lake and post office. The Christmas lights were still up outside the hotel, which I enjoyed looking at when it was dark at night from the living room window. The house is a half hour or less drive to Boyne, Nubs Nob and The Highlands ski areas. Petoskey is close by, and the Wal-mart & Meijer are on the side town closest to this house. There were plenty of towels, washcloths and extra blankets in the house. While I didn't do much cooking while there, the kitchen seemed to be well stocked with all sorts of items one might need to cook with. The kitchen table seats 8 people, which I noted as it seems most tables at rentals are non existent or small. Wi-fi worked great. The home was very clean, and while our puppy was very interested in all the new smells, I didn't have to worry she would find things to eat that she shouldn't. We would definitely stay here again in the future.

Beautiful place for a romantic getaway

Super easy check in process. Very welcoming and cozy. Roomy kitchen. Lots of places to go on foot. The walloon lake is will definitely be on the list of places I need to visit again.

Terrific Place

The property was just what we were looking for. Plenty of space, nicely kept, and quiet. Walloon Lake is beautiful. Nice location between Boyne City and Petoskey.

Golf Get Away!

We had golf plans in Vanderbilt MI at Black Bear. We opted to look for a VRBO instead of a hotel in Gaylord. This was perfect since none of us had been to Walloon Lake. You could walk to dinner and drinks. The place has 2 full baths and for 2 couples that was ideal!

Great place!

Location was great, a short walk to the Walloon beach. About 20 min drive to Petoskey, 10 min to Boyne. House was incredibly clean, comfortable sheets and towels too!

Great Location! Dog friendly!

This location is perfect for a walk or dinner in downtown Walloon. The cottage has all the amenities needed and the owner was responsive. Highly recommend for a week in Walloon lake.
